I have several questions regarding massages at WDW. I have never had a massage but am really trying to save so that in December I can get one while in WDW. We are staying at the Dolphin, but will have vehicle transportation.
Here are my questions:
1.) What are the different types of massages?
2.) How are the different type of massages different?
3.) Which massage would you recommend for a 'first timer'?
4.) Which resort has the best massages?
5.) Who do you call to schedule the massage...is there a 'one number' for all resorts or do you call the resorts individually?
6.) What other 'spa' treatment would you recommend? Just in case I can save a little more money:)

Now I know that there are several on this board who have had massages at WDW..........HELP!!!!!

Amanda, I wish I could help, but I've only had one professional massage in my life. I did get it at the GF and they were wonderful there! Luis and I had done the aromatherapy side by side massage and I loved it. I wish I could help more but I haven't had enough to know what to suggest or not to suggest. I am kind of curious to hear what others think though as I have been debating on whether or not I'll get one this time when I go.

I knew Dan would come through with a link...;)
Thanks Dan!!!
Anyone want to hang out with me & the girls while DW is at her massage???:smooth:

Believe,

I just wanted to say that I had a facial at the GF Spa and it was HEAVENLY!!! I have had massages before, but only in someone's home, not in a professional setting. This was my first facial.

It was 50 minutes for $109, and worth every penny. Part of the facial is a brief neck and shoulder massage, plus it's like they're massaging your face when they're doing the treatment. They also have 25 minutes for $63, but I think 50 minutes is the way to go. (Same goes for massages, I have a price list and descriptions if you'd like more info.)

A 50 minute massage can be anywhere from $103 (Swedish) to $120 (mother-to-be). The aromatherapy massage sounds nice, $118 for 50 minutes. They also have 25, 75 or 80 minute massages.

They have lots of other treatments too, skin care, water therapies & soaks, body wraps and masks, hand and foot, couples, and packages. There are a couple of packages that are reasonably priced and sound pretty good (starting at $209 for a Spa Sampler).

Thanks for the links Dan! I once had those but I couldn't find them anymore (probably lost them back in April).

Shep, while Amdanda's doing her massage, I'll be glad to join you and your two angels :)

I'll have to start a thread..;)
So far I have helenabear, catsrule & DH for the DW-less shep & daughters mini-meet..
:)

Shep, DH says I should join Amanda and get a massage too. I think he just wants to dump me, then you will dump Mandy and Cassie off to Elaine, and you and DH will be off in Corona World.:teeth:

Dan, Thanks for the links. You always come through for me.

shep, helenabear and catsrule....I feel like I am being exiled;) Sounds like you can't wait to get rid of me;)

Um... wait a minute here... dumping the girls with me?? I think they are cute and all, but can you trust them with me? ;)

Amanda, I wouldn't ever want to get rid of you there! Maybe we just ought to get rid of the guys and have some "girl time" :teeth:

Did anyone read the couples massage report that was posted as a link here in the past few days? It was quite a read, and I've never been interested in getting a massage.

Helenabear, shep and I have agreed to give each other one evening to do our own thing. I think he is doing the roller coaster mini-meet. I haven't decided yet....maybe we will have to do a girls mini-meet. Any suggestions?

I had a full body massage last year at the Contemporary , they brought this young lady from the GF for me and let me tell you...I was in Heaven!! It was I believe 55 minutes , I don't know how much it was because dh paid for it in advance, that was my b-day present, but let me tell you that it was well worth it. I came out of the session feeling like a new person!

That's so nice that you guys have given each other free time like that, believe. I'd like to think that Luis would be so kind to me if he were going along ;) I must admit though, I am terrible with coming up with ideas on what to do. Would the girls be joining us too? Or will shep take care of them during that evening?

Mskanga...do you know the type of massage you had? What it a Swedish, aromatherapy....? I know you said full body but I don't see that listed as an option at the Swan/Dolphin.
I plan on doing the full massage which is 55 minutes and can't wait to feel like a new person.

An evening without the girls... wow you guys are being very nice to each other. We'll work on something to do then.

I really wish I could find the folder I saved from my last trip. It had the brochure from GF Spa there and it had the description of what we had done while we were there (I didn't see it listed on the descriptions on the links Dan gave). I can't imagine though that you wouldn't get a full body massage in 55 minutes. I know ours was 50 minutes and I couldn't imagine how they could only work on one part of the body and have it take up the full time. Hopefully someone knows for sure :)
