Marriage: The Trip Report - Update 2/28 - Final Thoughts & Link to Disneyland TR!

Duffy on a stick.... that sounds funny to me lol

My mom wants to buy me something completely useless and fun on our trip. I opted for Duffy hehe Not on a stick lol

It was about 3 minutes into it, I decided to make a run to the bathroom. I consulted my iPhone map and saw there was one just over the bridge, near the International Gateway.

I got this far and said out loud- isn't the bathroom in Morrocco ( the one I forgot was there in Dec.:rolleyes1) closer ???

Well, turns out this bathroom is OUTSIDE the gates. It wasn't close at all! Morocco is much closer! All well, lesson learned.
:rotfl2::rotfl2:
It may be really sad that I can come up with that information quicker than next weeks work schedule.

I love the Nemo ride, even when the ride stops at the end and the song just replays over and over until it starts moving again. :rotfl2:

We got stuck at the VERY end by the starfish, but not close enough to get off. :rotfl2: We got to listen to the starfish go on and on and on and on and on.....

And, yes, there is a Dory stuffed toy (Mark bought two last years for girls at work).

275DHSDory.jpg

I found her at DHS. I guess she got lost. :rotfl:

I agree with you!!! October would have been so much better - for so many reasons! At this rate, perhaps I will have a surprise for October too? I can dream, right???

Thank you!!! I loved putting that ticker on there!!

 Mine is a problem, because I wear several different pairs of sandals and it looks hilarious with some of them! But, all well!

I would have been the exact same way!!! Little fast boats scare me!

Thank you everyone! It was a great day - just simple at mostly at home, but nice.

I just looked at the pictures of the Yacht Club rooms for the first time, they look so comfortable! I really look forward to staying there. We walked through the lobby during our Feb/March trip and were in awe-it's beautiful!

Great advice, thank you Cynthia! I will be sure to tell that to Joe too as he'll be solo parenting Monday-Friday in the parks...I can totally see them not even adventuring out until after nap time even. LOL

That's good to hear that it's not unbearable! I figure it can't be all that much hotter than the first few days of September, right? And we've done that twice. Now that Henry is older too, we'll probably be riding the water rides! :thumbsup2

Disney prices for 2012 (except very early 2012) aren't out yet - but I suspect they are coming soon with this price hike on the tickets and I've already seen the 2012 DDP brochures too...hopefully this means they are about to release all the numbers! People are ready to BOOK! Send me your info whenever you can though, and I'll watch for the opening of the booking windows and run those numbers!

Thank you!!! It was a great day!! My favorite part was sushi for lunch. YUM!!!

NYC does get VERY hot and humid! Last year July here was unreal. And we are outside all the time, so maybe I'll be a bit more adjusted...

I'm SO looking forward to SAB!!!!!

lol that must be interesting Happy belated birthday

I can never ever remember where the bathrooms in World Showcase are when I need them. I remember one time sitting in the America theater, and trying to figure out where the closest bathroom was. I made it to Germany and went there, but I'm pretty sure there are at least 5 other closer bathrooms .

The ones in Morocco are pretty nice, I like those. I also enjoy the ones in Norway and the United Kingdom. :thumbsup2

It was great to see Henry happily colouring away at his Duffy on a stick - I've been planning on trying it out with the girls in August. Do you collect one in each location? Or just add to him as you travel around WS?

The French bakery is a great spot - we had a quiet coffee and croissant one morning last year, just as the WS was opening and it was a lovely, relaxed start to an Epcot day. And we must have eaten well the day before or else I'm sure I'd have been tucking into a chocolate mousse or similar :rotfl:
It might just be added onto the list for next time - although in Disney there's always so much to eat and so little time!!

One of these days I'm going to have to get something from that bakery in France. Yes, I know, it's awful I've never been.....almost as awful as not liking cheese or CHOCOLATE :scared1:

I love Turtle Talk with Crush! We haven't done it for the last trip or two, but it's such a fun show.

Glennbo123®

Such a great picture -- you've got the technique down chick!

Cynthia had me jonesing for that ham and cheese sandwich too, when she wrote about it a while back.

Look the Glennbo FP trademark pic! :rotfl2: The bakery in France is yummy but $30 OOP...ouch! I'll keep that in mind when decided where to eat CS in WS. Looking forward to more SAB pics.

Hurray! Two updates.

We love Turtle Talk and the whole Living Seas area. Lot's of time passes by when we're in there. Henry's little fish is so cute. I guess Henry thought y'all could read animal minds.

I've done lunch in the bakery a couple of time. Of course desert is the best part.

HOLY COW 3 WEEKS!!!!!!! That will be awesome! Where you are staying? Yes, we should DEFINITELY meet up! The 15-19 will be very busy for me, but our other days will be a bit more flexible. Send me a PM when you get a second if you have any sort of schedule set!

I know THREE WEEKS! So excited! BUT don't forget we are flying 9hrs to get there so us English tend to go for 2 or 3 weeks to make the flight worthwhile!!! We're staying in a villa off-site, about 15-mins from Disney I think. There are 9 of us (and at some point we increase to 13!) so a villa was more cost effective!

I'll mail you via FB - I need to go back and check your dates, then I can check our planner and let you know where we plan on being. We have lots of free days too - so if our park days don't match up, we can meet you somewhere I'm sure. We're getting 3-week unlimited Disney passes too, so will be able to go anywhere / hop anywhere when we like!

The Ham & Cheese baguette looks SO tasty! We are big fans of ham and cheese in our family! Often we have caught the train over to France - shopped at the HUGE hypermarket, then gone to the beach for a picnic of ham & cheese baguettes!

Loved the updates! xxx

I laughed at the story about Henry and the talking animals, too funny! And his beverly face is sooo cute

Lunch at the bakery looks really good, and I have to say i agree with you one hundred percent on chocolate, I'm not really that big of a fan of it either.

Can't wait for more:goodvibes

Seeeeeeeriously, every.single.animal. Yesterday he resurrected this by having me talk his new rubber spider. I indulged him for a few minutes, but thankfully it didn't last too long!

My brother and I ate lunch at the bakery on our last trip as well. Loved it! I had the napoleon for desert and I have been craving one ever since then.

Don't feel too bad about the chocolate thing...I don't like it either. I occasionally will eat a brownie or a handful of m&ms but I have to be in the right mood. A few years ago I wouldn't even eat that.

I have yet to try the napoleon, but I hear great things about it! Perhaps in August. :scratchin

I'm glad I'm not alone in the chocolate thing! I thought I would get tomatoes thrown at me! ;) We are a rare breed, aren't we?

For me????
Awww...thanks, Brook, I love it!

We have a couple of Duffys that look like this. So sweet.
Good job, Henry!

I have yet to get to one of those ham sandwiches. Maybe in July? Is the bread what makes it so good? Like at Earl's, I don't think there could be a bad sandwich because of that good bread! I'm with you on the straight chocolate. I'm more of the chocolate chip type or chocolate accent in something than a straight out chocoholic.

Beautiful pictures, as always. No matter how much time I spend in World Showcase, it's really never enough.

I actually DO think of you MeMom when I take those palm tree pictures! :cutie: I know well of your obsession, and I believe it runs as deep as my own!

I do think it's the bread on the ham sandwich - it's like a giant baguette. Kinda crunchy on the outside, soft on the inside. The ham is just right and the cheese is not overpowering.

Hurray for Brook updates!!! :yay:

Welcome to the World of Talking Animals! :rotfl: Chelsea and Connor used to love when we would do that! :goodvibes But you're right -- after awhile, it is hard to come up with things for them to say.

Love Squirt -- good choice on Henry's part, and he looks very pleased with his purchase.

Lunch looks good -- I can see why the bakery is a siren call for Joe! Yummy, yummy, yummy!

The talking animals thing just got to be TOO much - an animal here or there would have been fun...but all of them!?!?! :lmao: All well, it's sweet, right?

Henry was very pleased with his Squirt! I hope we are able to find a Dory in August, but I don't recall ever seeing her.

Great updates Brook! You know Epcot is my fav! Your day sounded absolutely fantastic! A little Future World, a little World Showcase....sometimes when I'm sitting in my apartment in NJ, I dream of days like that! Henry is so cute, as always.

Epcot never fails to give us a good day! A lot of walking and exhaustion, yes, but there is always so much to see and do! I can say I've seen/done almost everything in MK at least once, but not even close with Epcot!

Great updates!:thumbsup2. That Duffy is truly a masterpiece. ::yes::

I was close to trying the bakery on my last trip but the line was out the door and it always seems to move slowly. I believe they have announced intentions to refurb but am not sure when.

I don't have much of a sweet tooth either. But cheese??? You are missing out!:upsidedow

Ahhhhh...I didn't hear about the refurb on the bakery! I think that would be a VERY good thing. It's TEENY in there. 2 slow moving shuffling lines along the cases of goods. Even when the line is inside the store it seems to move slowly!

What a wonderful leisurely day. I always feel so rushed...like I have so little time to get it all in, especially this past trip. We only had 2 park days and I was exhausted in the end. But we had fun.
I've done the mommy makes animals talk too. Claire thinks it's hilarious.

This trip I didn't feel rushed at all in the beginning. I was still thinking I could do it all in 2 weeks.

My mood changes when we get to BLT.

No cheese or chocolate? Those are two of the best foods on earth!

Love turtle talk! The kid questions are so cute! Very brave of Henry to sit on the carpet and raise his hand!

We rarely eat cs in ws because there are so many good ts restaurants there but I think we need to explore those options. The sandwich and desserts look great! Great job on Duffy Henry! My dd still loves the kidcot stops and passport even after so many trips. She would sit there forever!

I know! Cheese & chocolate are some people's main food groups! I'm a weird one.

We haven't gotten to the Passport yet....but maybe on our next big trip (Feb 2012) we will do that. I know Henry would have a ball collecting the stamps--even though he wouldn't truly get it quite yet!

I hope my kids don't outgrow Nemo any time soon... We love to visit him once during each trip. However, we've never seen Crush!!

I love the bakery in France!! I'm a big chocolate fan but had a hard time finishing the mousse... it is very rich!

Oh, I bet your boys would love Crush! The questions are hilarious! Crush is so entertaining! It really is a very cute and fun show!

I love the Nemo ride, even when the ride stops at the end and the song just replays over and over until it starts moving again. :rotfl2:

Great job, Henry! Your artwork is spectacular.

No chocolate or cheese? You really are missing out! I'll give you credit for trying it. :goodvibes

:rotfl: about the ride! I wouldn't mind getting stuck at the end - I'd just happily sing along! Though, that song DOES tend to get stuck in my head...worse than It's a Small World!

My cheese likes are very minimal - fried cheese, cheese burgers, pizza, sometimes on sandwiches (like in this instance, though, I could do without) and string cheese. I try every few years...but so far, I'm still not a fan. I'm thankful though-saves me on a few calories!

Amen sister!

I always think I'm going to buy a few each trip and come back with NONE due to that ugly price tag. I'm a cheapskate by nature and just can't even shake that tendency on vacation!

Great updates, Brook. Lunch in France looks truly yummy (I love ham and cheese sandwiches). Henry did a great job on Duffy:thumbsup2

And, yes, there is a Dory stuffed toy (Mark bought two last years for girls at work).

Have you done lunch there yet Kathy? It really is very good! Such a nice little light lunch!

YAY! about the stuffed Dory!!!! I have a feeling she might be the winner in August!

Duffy on a stick.... that sounds funny to me lol

My mom wants to buy me something completely useless and fun on our trip. I opted for Duffy hehe Not on a stick lol

It makes Duffy sound like fair food, doesn't it? Popcorn, peanuts, Duffy on a stick!

I think Duffy is a great choice for something useless and fun! He's pretty darn cute and sooooo soft.

I got this far and said out loud- isn't the bathroom in Morrocco ( the one I forgot was there in Dec.:rolleyes1) closer ???

:rotfl2::rotfl2:
It may be really sad that I can come up with that information quicker than next weeks work schedule.

We got stuck at the VERY end by the starfish, but not close enough to get off. :rotfl2: We got to listen to the starfish go on and on and on and on and on.....

275DHSDory.jpg

I found her at DHS. I guess she got lost. :rotfl:

 about knowing the Epcot map better than your work schedule! Love it!! This past trip with my friend Sarah, on our first day we were walking through AK, and she said, "So, you know where to go? Without a map?" Oh yes, my dear. :teeth: However, I do still get lost in my own City...

LOVE that Dory, she's so cute and has that perfect clueless look!

lol that must be interesting Happy belated birthday

Thank you!!!! :goodvibes

She's not lost...,she's here on m bed beside me. She says hi!

:rotfl2: Henry just saw the pic Pat posted above and got very excited...we'll see if she finds her way home with us too!

:thumbsup2

The bathrooms in the WS hide a bit! I will NEVER forget the ones in Japan...a 2 staller! TWO! It's basically a closet!

You can just add to your Duffy as you travel around, and the CM working the KidCot station will also stamp a country stamp on Duffy's stick. Henry only added to his Duffy coloring a couple times...then later in the trip got a whole new one. He had a moment of insecurity about his Duffy looking good after he saw a young girl's colored very neatly. :sad1: I told him his was already fantastic, but he insisted...you'll read all about it later in the trip! But, I said all that to say - the girls CAN get new ones, or as many as they want, if they would like!

Ooooh, I like your idea of a coffee and croissant there just as the WS is opening. I'm going to have to log that one in the memory bank for the next time we stay in the Epcot area.

mmmmmmmm...chocolate mousse.....:cloud9:

I know so many people feel that same way!!! I've read dozens of raving reviews of it!

oh and I forgot to say that the bakery is....yummmmmmmmmmmmmmm :)

Yessssssss it is!

One of these days I'm going to have to get something from that bakery in France. Yes, I know, it's awful I've never been.....almost as awful as not liking cheese or CHOCOLATE :scared1:

:rotfl2: yes! You have to try the bakery! It's full of delicious choices! (even for those of us that don't like chocolate! LOL)

I love Turtle Talk with Crush! We haven't done it for the last trip or two, but it's such a fun show.

Such a great picture -- you've got the technique down chick!

Cynthia had me jonesing for that ham and cheese sandwich too, when she wrote about it a while back.

I think I have completely adopted that technique and no longer even think about how to take the FP picture, it's just instinct! And I too really like how it looks!

Look the Glennbo FP trademark pic! :rotfl2: The bakery in France is yummy but $30 OOP...ouch! I'll keep that in mind when decided where to eat CS in WS. Looking forward to more SAB pics.

You like my geek-ed-ness there with the ® ? LOL!

I couldn't believe that price tag either, 3 sandwiches and 3 desserts, $30! It really is not that much food either. If the sandwiches came with chips or something it would be better.

Hurray! Two updates.

We love Turtle Talk and the whole Living Seas area. Lot's of time passes by when we're in there. Henry's little fish is so cute. I guess Henry thought y'all could read animal minds.

I've done lunch in the bakery a couple of time. Of course desert is the best part.

Our time often gets sucked away in the Seas too. This time we skipped the tanks upstairs, but even still - we were probably in there for over an hour.

Loved the updates! xxx

Wow, 9-13 people! It sounds like it's going to be an AWESOME trip. And yes, there are some fantastic deals off-site. We will stay off-site at some point and rent a car for the week to experience it. I think it will be nice experience, we'll also do some of the other Orlando attractions on that trip. I'm looking forward to seeing SeaWorld and Universal sometime! Are you going to do anything offsite?

Sounds good on the plans! I hope to sit down this week and figure ours out too. I'll post here and Facebook you on them.

I know it's normal in your life to be able to "catch a train to France"...but seriously, that just sounds cool from my perspective! I suppose France in Epcot isn't quite the same...!

As we left off, we had made a decision to head out of Epcot and back to the Boardwalk for a nap, then to Stormalong Bay for some more pool time.

1210334108_bVNAB-L.jpg

1210335265_DLUma-L.jpg

We opted for the boat back to the Boardwalk - probably because it was there waiting for passengers when we stepped out. Staying at the Boardwalk twice now has made me a BIG fan of Disney boats. They are so relaxing, it's like an attraction in and of itself!

See you soon SAB

1210344453_cVrmj-L.jpg

See you in August Yacht Club!

1210348047_JUJTR-L.jpg

We were soon rolling down the hallway and were in our room where we promptly laid Henry down and attempted to rest ourselves (I was most likely on the computer DISing!)

However, remember that cup of chocolate mousse Henry had? How many grams of sugar do you think are in there?!

Ya...no nap. It wasn't happenin' no matter how much we tried to bribe him. So, off to SAB!

This time we decided to tackle the lazy river and we rented a tube. If I recall correctly, the tubes are $10/day, or $3/hour. We rented for an hour, and the woman was very Leninist and told us to just return it whenever.

Joe and Henry went around the river first

IMG0074-L.jpg

IMG0076-L.jpg

And then Henry wanted to dig, so Joe kept floating when Henry and I played in the sand.

IMG0077-L.jpg

After Joe went around a few times, I took a turn in the tube while the boys did the sand. Later, Joe and I took turns swimming laps around the lazy river area since it's 7 feet deep. I really enjoyed that, it's not a huge loop, but enough to provide a good swim a couple times around.

Then...guess what we did next?

If you guessed "Dig in the sand." You are correct!

Dig.

Dig.

Dig!

Joe and I would lay on the edge of the water while Henry dumped buckets of water on us....this was incredibly entertaining for quite some time.

Then we dug in the sand a bit more.

And some more.

We still had the tube, so the boys hit the lazy loop again, I decided to really be lazy and hit the lounger for a short NAP.

Yes, this was another good day at SAB! We left the area around 5:30 due to growling stomachs and....I was growing antsy. I needed to get more Epcot!

We peeled Henry away from the sand and before we even left the pool area he was sound asleep.

Back in our room we slowly prettied ourselves up and then wheeled to Epoct. Henry must have woken up in the room, because by the time we got to Epcot he was raring to go!

1210348996_SdVap-L.jpg

He received a Woody sticker at the gates

1239896248_VrJeE-L.jpg

A quick PhotoPass on the bridge

We had Soarin' FPs that were burning a hole in my pocket, so the logical place to eat was

1210350253_pwvew-L.jpg

Sunshine Seasons was a big hit with Henry back in September, so we were hoping for a repeat of a good meal.

1210350985_3bctA-L.jpg

Despite the beauties seen here, there really is only one choice for this family...

1210351947_w3p7W-L.jpg

Mine - Ginger Mongolian Beef with veggies and noodles

1210352886_mD887-L.jpg

Joe's - Spicy Cashew Chicken with rice and noodles

We must have been really hungry because usually we just have Henry share off our plates, but this time he got his own!

1210353934_xVnrV-L.jpg

Henry's - Kids Sweet & Sour Chicken with noodles. He actually requested broccoli. :faint: However, I knew he'd eat one or two piece and waste the rest, while he would gobble the noodles, so I shared my veggies with him instead. It was a Proud Mommy Moment when my 3 year old requested vegetables!

And now for the glorious, wonderful...

1210354723_No6JF-L.jpg

Drool. I love, love, love this dessert.

When we were done eating all our plates and garbage were pushed to the center of the table where Henry spotted a Hidden Mickey

1217395638_7MeqS-L.jpg

It's a bit of a gross picture with all the trash, but...I was still proud! Look at that Mickey with the plates!

And soon it was time to

1210357113_kreL3-L.jpg

Henry was SO EXCITED to soar! And he got a little red card necklace dealy-do, which made him even more excited!

1210361580_eU9VH-L.jpg

Let's fly!

After this ride I think I discovered my favorite Disney sound. The click of the seat belts coming off after this ride. It's funny-they do the announcement of how to get out of the seat belt while everyone is pushing, pushing, pushing on the red button and then suddenly BOOM! we are released and the clicking fills the room. It's the end sound of an awesome ride. I have no idea, but it just strikes me as a fun noise. I'm weird like that.

As we walked out I snagged a geek shot

1210362374_NTVTv-L.jpg

Kinda cool.

And now...it was time to use those Test Track FPs...how would Henry do???

Love the updates. Congrats on another trip. We'll miss you again since we're going in September. lol

I see you started your TR! :hyper: I'll be over!!!

I LOVE September!!! I'm a bit jealous of your trip!!! I think we'll re-adopt our September trips after a couple years when Henry is used to being in school...maybe by 1st grade or so.

That picture of Henry and Joe on the tube is fantastic. What a great afternoon. How will we fit in everything I want to see while there in August?
