March (Exercise) Madness Challenge

I want in, please!! This is just what I need to get my butt motivated...pressure.

I want to lose 12 pounds by Easter so put me in for 2500 minutes.

Yesterday I did a total of 75 minutes: 45 minutes: routine on Fit TV and 35 minutes on TM and some weights.
I feel pretty good today so I am going to shoot for 90 to 120 minutes (I need to spend at least 45 of that on weights and abs). I just hope I stay healthy this month...both kids have had nasty upper respiratory and yucky stuff is going around. Thanks so much for doing this...I'm getting my shoes on now!!
 
My math is off: I did a total of 80 minutes yesterday, not 75 . And I just finished up 105... just got a shower and I feel so much better! So now, my total is 185/2500.
 
Pouring buckets here. Will be walking indoors at work tonight so I will come back, but for now I am 45/675

You can let me know as often as you like - easiest is for you to update in the 'text' as you do in your siggy. I'll update the first post every couple of days usually.

30 mins treadmill
15 mins Cybex weight machines
60 mins weight strength class
 
Please help. I have never exercised and dont have a clue how to start. I only one 12 pound dumb here and dont belong to a gym. Im trying to quit smoking. Im taking Chantix, well actually im starting it back. I want to breathe like a non-smoker, I want to weight a normal weight, but I have no idea how to start of exercising. I live in an apartment complex that is really safe so I could walk. But how do I start off? And will I ever be able to run. I want to be someone who is health concious and healthy. My weight counter says my ideal weight is 200. I cant think any lighter than that because its too overwhelming. I can do this, I just dont know how.:yay:

You can do it trust me! I am doing WW. I also quit smoking 2 weeks ago, using the patch and it is really awesome, no cravings at all! Its like magic LOL!

You can start walking just 10 mins a day, then when your ready go for 15.. etc. taking it slow is key. Don't expect too much from yourself. BUt once you start going, everyday you will feel a lil better and that will get you to keep going. :yay:
 
Ok walked today, well I guess that yesterday now but I am at 90/675
 
I made my 60 minutes tonight. Makes up 30 for missing yesterday. WOOHOO

Welcome,Tulsa! Wanting to do this is a BIG first step!

As MissMissy said, if you're comfortable in your complex to walk, just go take a short walk - to the mail room & back, around the area - 5 min, 10 min, whatever you can. Try to do a tiny bit every day. Try to add a minute or more as you feel you can. If you can join a Weight Loss group like WW, it's a lot of support. You might be able to put up a note at your complex looking for someone who will be a walking buddy with you. Support - especially the kind on here - REALLY helps!!!

For the challenge, it's 3/3 now 28 days left this month, why not commit to 5 minutes a day - or any number you're comfortable with. You CAN do this! I think we've all been where you are, overwhelmed & not knowing where to start!

You might also go to the WISH journals thread & start a journal. It's VERY helpful & a place where you will get TONS of WONDERFUL support!

I exercised 55 minutes yeserday with my DD ~ I've already achieved 90 this month :woohoo:

My DH and I are about to go on a walk for our Saturday morning coffee. When we return, we have to shovel the driveway again. I'm ready for winter to be over! :sad2: Spring ~ where are you?

As the others have said, walking is a great way to start an exercise program for many reasons; inexpensive, no membership, other than shoes, no additional equipment, and you can do it at your pace. Start slow and listen to your body. You will find lots of information, support and inspiration shared among the people right here. There are many walking threads on these boards and you could visit http://www.disneyrunning.com where there is a thread called 'Beginning Walking'.

You can do it!!!

I quit smoking about 3 years ago using the patch. It really worked. For the first week or so, I had to keep busy...I had the cleanest closets in town!!! :)

Start slow...I would suggest the Walk Away the Pounds videos...they are wonderful! Or maybe start walking 10 minutes a day for the first week and add on from there...also start with 3 - 4 days a week.

I just started exercising again so my goal for this month is 500 minutes. Maybe you can start with like 300 minutes.

Just be positive...you can do it!!! :) :) :)
