March 6, 2011 Disney Dream 4 night cruise

My twin 17 year old daughters will be sailing with us, and so I am wondering if there are any others on this thread who will have teens with them.

Right now the trip seems so far away, but it is nice to think about on stressful days :goodvibes

Thanks!!! We have two girls 13 and 10 at sailing. Can't wait to meet some new friends. This is our third Disney Cruise. Booked at the Radisson the night before... anyone else at the radisson?

We've stayed there before and really liked it, but will be at the MCO Hyatt this time.

Thanks for the hurricaine info....very interesting ! Hope you guys are ok, we'll just get alot of rain and maybe strong winds.

Hey Scrapycruiser,

Would you please help me with any info on booking at the MCO Hyatt the night before the cruise? This past April, we took the 6:00am flight out of Pensacola, which means we were up at 3:00am! This time we thought we would fly out the day before, so we could enjoy the first night at sea a little more:woohoo::woohoo::woohoo:

Well we just booked a Hyatt "day room" for $89.00.
It will be somewhere to go and hang out after Mickey:smickey::donald::tinker: and the gang kick us off the ship and before our late flight at 7pm.
They let you have the room from 10:00 until 6:00 pm if anyone else is needing this kind of stopover.
We thought of going to DTD, butjust did not want to have to deal with luggage and stuff.

We like arriving the night before... then we have no worries about something going wrong. The Radisson includes parking with the cost of the room and has a shuttle to the ship. There are some great restaurants at the port we enjoy before the cruse.

Unless your flight gets in late, you may want to consider driving over to port and staying there the night before. You can rent a car (we use Budget) and return it at port.

Now some people like to stay over at Disney the night before. And it is nice to go to Downtown Disney if you have time. But we like staying at Port so we can sleep in and not rush to get to the ship.

This year we won't be doing this because we are flying in on Friday and going to Disney on Saturday. But if we were flying in on Saturday, we would go over to Port as long as our flight got in by 7:00 pm. Later than that, we would probably consider the Hyatt (which is VERY nice, we have stayed there twice and liked it......this will be our 11th cruise, so we have tried different ways of doing this).

We have done both, the Radisson near the pier and the MCO Hyatt. The cost is pretty much the same. If you stay at the Raddison you'll rent a car ; if you stay at the Hyatt ,you'll get bus transfers.

We just went online and booked our MCO Hyatt room. Be sure to note that you'll be doing the Disney cruise the next day.

Since it's early March we chose the Hyatt over the Radisson because we weren't sure if it would be warm enough to swim that evening . If it were late spring or summer we'd probably stay at the Radisson. The pool is wonderful !

Let me know if you need anymore info about the Hyatt & the transfer the next am. :flower3:

We live in Florida, se we will be driving. I hate to pay for parking at the port. For about the same amount we get a room the night before and relax and enjoy the day before the cruise.

Hi Everyone,

Just wanted to let you know that we had a conflict come up with this sailing date and had to switch our cruise to the Magic a couple of weeks later. Enjoy the Dream.

Wondering if there are any other Canadians sailing on this voyage?

:welcome: Batt2fd Family!
We are all excited to be on the new DCL ship!!

Our friends, Big Turkey 12 are from Canada ! :cheer2:

What's everyone doing in Nassau ?
What we'll do depends on the weather. Hate to book a snorkling excursion if the water is cold. I don't suppose the pools at the resorts are heated ?:confused3

Scrappy,
We really want to hit a beach and get our cold Canadian toes (& other parts...:lmao:) into the sand. As a past travel agent I would love to go see Atlantis and all of that amazing resort... but our goal is to get some beach time... Any suggestions on that???

If you've never seen Atlantis then go there. If you want to go on your own it's so easy . Take a taxi to Atlantis. At the hotel you can purchase tickets for the aquarium. It's so cool...underground. Then when you're finished I'd look around the hotel, then head to the beach. I wouldn't eat lunch at Atlantis as it's so expensive ! You could take the taxi back to the ship for lunch OR , 1 idea is go out to Cable Beach to the Wyndham Hotel/ Sheraton. You can get a day pass pretty cheap and they have a great place to get a burger right on the beach. We were there a year ago and I think the pass was $15 / pp and you could use both hotel pools.
Another option is to do the ships' tour to Atlantis, convienient but expensive. OR plan 3... go to Atlantis and afterwards go to the public beach nearby. You could probably walk or get another taxi. Taxi's are cheap in Nassau.

Just some ideas !:flower3:

Awesome suggestions Scrapy! I have some research to do I guess! I do know that we aren't interested in the straw market.
Has Disney sent out the port information packet for this cruise to anyone yet??
Thanks
W

Hey Everyone: Am I on the correct thread-where are all the fellow Louisiana Mardi Gras refugee's? We booked this cruise last Mardi Gras while on board the 7 day that turned into a 6 day cruise (long story)! Anyway, we are 2 adults, 17,(senior-boy), 14 (eighth grade boy), and 12 (seventh grade girl)-all crammed into a 4A somewhere on deck 10-we usually have two SPH rooms-so, we'll see how well we all travel together. Someone let me know if this is not the Mardi Gras Cruise:goodvibes

Did you just book? I thought I saw on the disneycruise.com website they only had Cat. 4s left. I think our ship is almost full!

Nice to see another teen! I have twin daughters who are also 17 (Juniors) and they will probably be in the teen club a lot. I loved it last year on the Wonder. It is nice they have a place for the younger teens to hang out now on the Dream. That is something we missed on when my girls were 14 (we didn't cruise that year because I didn't want them in with the older teens).

Welcome!
