March 5, 2011 - Bushwacker Wild Wild Westerners

Oh Tink! I am SO GLAD that you and your son are okay. SO SCARY! :grouphug:

My goodness, Tink! Hope you feel better soon! I had tried to PM you the other day about something and your box was full. It wasn't anything major.

Take care of yourself!

Hi All,
Just checking in. Now that some medication has kicked in and I can sit up-right.
I have not had time to respond to PM's. My DS and I were in a pretty bad car accident on the weekend. We are doing ok. Kids are better than parents. I will fill you in or Lady Story can too with brief details. I will talk with you soon. I did get my DS on the thread and Kim, the request was sent. You can look on the spread sheet for names. TTYL. Tink

Sorry to hear this:sad2: how scary that had to be, was weather a factor???

Hopefully your injuries are not so bad, that a bushwacker or two won't be able to cure ;)
But in all seriousness, the ejkj family sends well and speedy wishes to you all :flower3:

:hug:Brenda

Just curious as if there are any pitch (cards) players out there???? Thought it might be fun to meet in the promenade lounge one night and play pitch ???

We could have drinks, and then around 11:00, they set up a small table of appetizer right outside the lounge....just an idea:confused3

Russell and I play pitch. I'm not very good...prefer double deck pinochle...but enjoy pitch. 10 point???

Thank the Good Lord above for watching over our Tinker

Happy Monday...

Just wondering if anyone on this thread is from Phila - South Jersey - DE area....

Also - I am sure this is a long shot - but are there any single men (35-45) on this thread? My SiL is a widow, and I would love for her to have someone for her to hang with

I was told that we dont need to bring formal wear, is that correct? Just dont want to get on the ship and find out that we need formal wear...

How often are the characters around for the kids to talk to?

What kind of things do you put in the FEs?

Sorry if all my questions are silly - but I want to make sure I know what to expect - since from what I hear DCL are different then any other cruise line!

You don't NEED formal wear, but you should be prepared. Many people, including our family, wear formal attire on formal night. I wear a cocktail dress and the husband brings his tux (or you can rent one). The kids dress up too. Many men wear a tux or at least a jacket and tie, and most women wear very formal or cocktail dresses. The first year, we were unprepared and felt VERY uncomfortable. So you can either bring formal wear, or opt out and eat at Topsiders Buffet that night because the dining rooms will be full of people in all out black tie attire.

VERY! Each day's navigators will tell you when and where all the characters will be. Of course, there is your day's character breakfast too. There are plenty of opportunities to have autographs and photos with all the characters.

Don't be ridiculous! That is what we are here for - ask away!!! :yay: Someone will be happy to answer.:thumbsup2

Usually they hold back a number of slots for each excursion so people who don't go on line can reserve them once they get on board. When you check in at the port, or as soon as you board, you can go to the designated area (usually Studio Sea or Diversions...but don't hold me to that) and see if you can sign up for the one you want. Good luck!:thumbsup2

Thank you so much for the info. We will just keep our fingers crossed and check when we get on board.

Tinker, big hugs to you and your family. Glad to hear that you are all ok. We will keep you all in our thoughts.:grouphug:

BTW - how did the name "Bushwacker Wild Wild Westerners" come about?:rolleyes1

Well.... on a past cruise, ejkjmom and atinkerbellmom got a little hooked on the Bushwacker drink (it's a yummy creamy cocktail!), and then two years ago, that's what our group was called, and we're continuting to carry on the name. We all do LOVE our buschwackers, sitting on the beach at castaway cay they are especially yummy!:drinking: :lmao:

I told you we are a fun cool group to hang out with!:goodvibes:cool1::cool2:

Ciao for now...
Johnna

So sorry Tinker... you all are in our prayers. I hope you feel better soon. It has been so dangerous on the roads lately. So Much fog this year where I live. I try to avoid any driving I can right now.

Hugs Tinker

Well finally got GTY to a room 8605..... don't know about that room though. Don't understand what kind of Veranda it is going to be. It is at the front of the ship.... fourth room in. I have herd that is the worst part for motion sickness and hubby gets bad motion sickness..... ummmm What to do?

Okay I do not know what pitch is but sounds like a possible plan! We would love to meet others on the ship. It can get boring somtimes on vacation for us when we have nothing to talk about!:rotfl2:

Sorry for this, but what is GTY?

As of the veranda's... IMOO the veranda's are really nice! They are usually small (at least on the last cruise they were). They are big enough for 1 or 2 chairs and a little table. I cant wait until we are out on the ocean and my son is asleep - I can go out there and read or just take in some ocean air!

It also makes the room look a slight bit bigger

I'm with ya! Have no idea what pitch is either and I asked DH (he is in corrections and his inmates play some weird games :scared1:- thiought he might know it) - but he didnt!

Should we bring some extra decks of cards?
