March 5, 2011 - Bushwacker Wild Wild Westerners

Thanks for all of the :welcome: !

Do any of you that have previously been on a DCL do the fish extenders? I found a few great ones on Etsy. Thinking of buying them...

What deck is everyone on? I think we are on 5 (could be 6)....waiting for my parents to get back to me with the deck - but I remember when we booked it I looked and it looked to be a great view!

I am a little nervous  I have to admit about my son being on the ship while we are out and about. He is 4 - and has NO fear about anything....I just keep telling myself that Disney is a GREAT organization and that their personnel is probably super wonderful - even on the ship! Has anyone had anything but wonderful experiences with that staff that handle the kids?

How are the evening shows? Are they cheesy?

Is it worth bringing my laptop to check my email a few times a day? :surfweb:The last cruise we went on you had to buy a block of time and it ran so slow that my minutes got eaten within 2 days...

Well that's all for now.....

I find the shows amazing...I guess it depends on what you feel is cheesy, I have been an avid Disney fan my whole life so if it has the Disney name on it to me it is wonderful. With that being said I have seen a couple Broadway style shows and the Disney ones onboard are just as good in my opinion.:)

Welcome.... We like to meet the "Other Halves" and the "Little Mice". I will tell my son about the thread. He already has an account. I bet you will be able to tell who he is based on his User Name.:lmao: I will catch you all soon. It is late. I just "woke up" and had not been on the boards all Thursday; so needed to check in...;) Guys do not think I am crazy, but my sleep cycle is. I have a crazy job and depending on my call schedule, I may turn in from 7PM until the nice phone rings and I have to get up or I will lay down and not need to make up and thus leaves me WIDE AWAKE at 3AM... I guess I will figure it out one day... Talk to you in True Day-light hours...:hippie:

Sweet sounds good I am trying to get IrishCowboy to add it to his 2011 list of cruises so hopefully more people will see it there as well!!!

We have always enjoyed the shows :thumbsup2!!!!! And we are a family of 4 with 2 teenage daughters 14 and 17. They too have always looked forward to them.

Although, on our last cruise (2yrs ago) we did not go to the Mickey Golden Grammy's as we had seen it 2-3 times before, on prior cruises.

Any of the DS's from 8-10 on Facetime or text.
If so PM me & we can hook them up pre-Canaveral.

Thanks for all of the :welcome: !

Hi! I made my own FE from the directions on that thread. I don't have an embroidery machine so I used T-shirt paint for the Family Name and the individual names. So ours only has 3 pockets, one for DH and I (even though we don't usually participate) and one for each of the kids. I also use a zip tie under the fish so someone doesn't relocate it. It was a big accomplishment to make for me for it to get lost. There are several folks on Ebay that makes them. Somebody's grandma (I forgot her name) is very popular.

When you say "we" do you just mean you and your spouse? I wondered if we were just doing kids. That would be fine. Just curious.

Those pronouns will get you every time, huh?:lmao: I am sorry. Yes, I meant DH and myself. In the last FE I participated in, we got to choose whether the adults were in or not. Also, some folks may make a family gift. I guess we need to ask Amanda what we are doing?

We're on deck 7 - we always get a verandah to enjoy the view, but also to sit out there and enjoy coffee in the morning, or a glass of wine before going to dinner. Plus the husband enjoys a cigar occassionally...

DO NOT WORRY! The cast members are amazing in the kids clubs, and when they are in the clubs they don't do anything water related, or wander around the ship at that age (the older kids go up to the outdoors decks, but not the 4 yr olds) so you will only have to worry when he is with you! :rotfl:

We LOVE the shows. They are amazing quality - consistently rated #1 in the cruise industry. Like ejkjmom said, we have seen them all and unless they change them, we may skip one or two of the productions. But usually the comedians, jugglers, etc. are hysterical! They always get the crowd involved and it's really a lot of fun.

As an addicted-to-my-computer person, I say no. It's really not worth the amount they charge to buy the package and lug your computer around. The only reason we would buy some minutes is to check in for return flights, or such, but we are of the mind that we are on vacation and can really take the opportunity to disconnect from the computer and connect with each other (and our friends).

And I'll email you the spreadsheet sometime this weekend or early next. Thanks for sharing your info. Keep posting!!

So basically I am looking for some cool people that my DH & SiL and I can hang out with maybe one night, etc....

You have TOTALLY come to the right place!! This is the coolest bunch of cruisers I know! :cool1::cool1::cool1::cool1:

As someone else said, we, and a bunch of us who know each other from past cruises, enjoy going to the adult bars and some of the special "club" stuff, so you'll have companions for sure.

Looking forward to getting to know you better!

I have two boys! One is going to turn 12 the 1st day of the cruise and the other is 9 almost 10. They both like to make new friends! We are trying to get all the paperwork worked out for them to join KHanson's new thread just for kids. DS9 is all signed up for the Oceaneer's Lab for the older kids. DS11 going to Ocean Quest (I forgot its new name) for those ages 11-13. I am sure they will be hanging out by the pool and doing some of the Out and About activities (DS9 loves the basketball courts on deck 10). We are going to be on deck 7. After you get to 10 posts, maybe the boys can share their e-mail address with you guys can get to know one another?:dance3:

I sent out the FE list to everyone I had information/e-mails for. Please let me know if you were mistakenly omitted. I look forward to sharing goodies on the cruise!

We just found out that an excursion that we thought we had booked isn't there on our list and now it is full. It is the Dolphin Extreme Swim at 7:15. If anyone has any suggestions of someone outside of Disney that does this, please let me know, or if you are going to cancel this I would love to have it.:worship:

Usually they hold back a number of slots for each excursion so people who don't go on line can reserve them once they get on board. When you check in at the port, or as soon as you board, you can go to the designated area (usually Studio Sea or Diversions...but don't hold me to that) and see if you can sign up for the one you want. Good luck!:thumbsup2

I would keep checking to see if anyone has cancelled. Is the 11:15 also booked? That is the one we are on. Good Luck! I hope you are able to get a spot!

Hey guys IrishCowboy added the kids only thread to his list under March 5th so if your kids are interested send them on over.:cool1:
Thanks

Hi All,
Just checking in. Now that some medication has kicked in and I can sit up-right.
I have not had time to respond to PM's. My DS and I were in a pretty bad car accident on the weekend. We are doing ok. Kids are better than parents. I will fill you in or Lady Story can too with brief details. I will talk with you soon. I did get my DS on the thread and Kim, the request was sent. You can look on the spread sheet for names. TTYL.
