March 5, 2011 - Bushwacker Wild Wild Westerners

Well.... on a past cruise, ejkjmom and atinkerbellmom got a little hooked on the Bushwacker drink (it's a yummy creamy cocktail!)

Does anyone know what's in it? I dont usually drink much - but if it is fruity...and frozen/slush I will defanitly have to try it!

GTY is a Guarantee that you get the cat you booked or better. I booked 8B and Got 8B. Looks like not a bad room....it is on the right side... and I think that is good. 1st cruise so learning as I go :)

I'm with ya! Have no idea what pitch is either and I asked DH (he is in corrections and his inmates play some weird games :scared1:- thiought he might know it) - but he didnt!

Should we bring some extra decks of cards?

You girls are funny!!!!!!! Yes it is a card game.... Out here in western Nebraska it is pretty big.
Guess I just thought everyone would have at least heard of it, maybe not know how to play it.... but at least have heard if it

May have to scratch that idea, and just stick to the drinking LOL!!!!!

Bushwacker...look it up in the dictionary and you will find the
definition YUMMY behind it :lmao:

My DH and I had our first one in St Thomas and it was so good, that when we got back on board, we asked if they made them, and they did, and so in return I got Tinker started on them and so on and on, kinda like pay it forward:lmao:.....I think it was Tinker who was the one that come up with naming our group "The Bushwackers" :confused3 honestly can't remember that part of it....but that is they way it started..just like Johnna said :)

Formal night We have always went through Cruiselineformal.com to rent DH a tux, in fact just did that today:). For us it is worth the extra $$$ to have it in our room when we get there, ..and besides being a farmer in Western Nebraska there isn't much (actually NO) need to own a Tux LOL.... but do keep in mind that not all men are in a tux...some are in nice Jackets with a tie, and that always looks sharp as well...I just like DH in a Tux, cuz like I said ..it's not everyday I get to see him in one;)

Hope everyone is having a good day :)

Hi All,
Just checking in. Now that some medication has kicked in and I can sit up-right.
I have not had time to respond to PM's. My DS and I were in a pretty bad car accident on the weekend. We are doing ok. Kids are better than parents. I will fill you in or Lady Story can too with brief details. I will talk with you soon. I did get my DS on the thread and Kim, the request was sent. You can look on the spread sheet for names. TTYL. Tink

Glad to hear everyone is OK!

Well finally got GTY to a room 8605..... don't know about that room though. Don't understand what kind of Veranda it is going to be. It is at the front of the ship.... fourth room in. I have herd that is the worst part for motion sickness and hubby gets bad motion sickness..... ummmm What to do?

Just got my gty! Looks like my 11a turned into a cat 9! 2644:banana::worship::cool1::dance3::cheer2:

It is really nice to see that the GTY rooms are being assigned that means we are closer yet to our vacations.

I also heard being closer to the front could have a bit more motion. The first night on our last cruise, I was pretty wimpy and put on my sea bands. I told my family that I felt more motion because I was doing all the work unpacking. We are a bit more forward than we have been in the past. I guess I better put the bands on my packing list so I don't forget. :rotfl:

As for the kids thread, my DSs have been trying to get on but are having trouble getting proper authorization. Hopefully, it will be resolved soon.

Ya deffinatly packing the bands I just bought. Has anyone tried the bandaid thing behind the ear for sea sickness? My Doc said that he would percrib if I wanted it...Let me know what you have tried and how it has worked for you.

I bought Dramamine chewables just in case the girls need it. Neither have been bothered by the carousel at the mall, but our youngest has had a little trouble on winding mountain roads when mommy took them too fast! :rolleyes1 Hopefully we will have no issues, though!

We thought everyone would know about Pitch too!!! It must be a mid-west card game as it is very popular here in Missouri too! Lots of pitch tourneys in the area!!!! :goodvibes I think you should bring along the cards, just in case!

Here is a good description and recipe for Bushwackers:

The Bushwacker is a fun, decadent drink that is like a chocolate Pina Colada. We’re not just talking chocolate either. No, this frozen cocktail is full of sweet stuff including delicious dark rum, killer-coffee Kahlua and captivating coconut that mix with the creme de cacao for one of the best blended drinks out there. Some recipes you find for the Bushwacker may call for Pina Colada mix, but just as in that drink I highly recommend avoiding that short cut, it is not worth it.

Bushwacker Recipe
■4 oz cream of coconut
■2 oz Kahlua® coffee liqueur
■1 oz Dark Rum
■1 oz Dark Creme de Cacao
■4 oz milk
Combine ingredients with two cups of ice in a blender. Blend until smooth, and serve up in two 12 oz cups. Raise glass and toast. :drinking1

Thanks for the link for renting a tux, Brenda! I think we'll rent one for Russell this time so I don't have to worry about packing his suit. That will save on having his suit dry cleaned before and after too!!!! Farmers just don't wear suits or tuxes very often! :lmao:

Finally got checked in online today. Had to take a break from my year-end bookkeeping! :surfweb:

Have a good night everyone!!!!!

Your are welcome:)
We have ordered from this place the last several cruises (this is the place Disney recommends) and have always have had good luck....it is usually hanging in our room when we get there (or shortly after).

One year we did have trouble with I think the length of the pants, and all we had to do was make a call and they sent a seamstress right up, she pinned them, and off she went with them, the pants were back in our hands before the end of the day..so Russell might want to try it on before formal night just in case;)
Then... all you do is leave it hanging in your stateroom on the last day... it really is simple..
And yes, like you, I really don't want to pack a suit or even suit jacket...with 3 girls packing, we need ALL the suitcase room we can get:lmao:

I remember you and Russell's formal attire on our last cruise..you both looked so sharp:thumbsup2
if I remember right that was from your son's wedding?? I think you should wear it again :)

I have wore the same dress for formal night the last 2 years, so may leave that one at home this time;) will probably opt for a dress I wore to a family wedding this summer...it is all black, nothing fancy..

UCK!!! to book work:)
Ron has all ours done and it is turned into the accountant. He got things done early this year as he is going in for shoulder surgery tomorrow...he has been babying his shoulder for a couple of years, but it has finally got to the point where he needed to get it done, he has 2 rotatory cuff tears and an impingement, his doctor reassured us that he would be ready for this trip...and we are going to hold him to it!!!!!

I did look it up last night and OMG it sounds sickning sweet - but OHHHHHHHHHHHHHH sooooooooooooooooooo YUM-O!:scared1:

For our first cruise we took bonine. At the time it was still a perscripition - but now you acn buy it over the counter! I think that's what we are going to use again. I might buy the chewables for my DS. I should call the pedi first though and see what I should use....he is only 4!

I will definitely make Russell try the tux on the first day! Now to get his measurements....

I am planning to wear the same dress on formal night. You remembered correctly, it was from our son's wedding. Thanks for the compliment!

We sure hope that Ron's surgery went well today! Russell can totally empathize. Although he didn't tear his rotator cuff, he did dislocate his shoulder...TWICE  and had surgery both times to repair it. The last one was about 4-5 weeks before our 2006 cruise to the Western Caribbean. He got to go so I'm sure Ron will be fine and dandy by our cruise. We'll be praying that all goes well!!!

That's what we did @ the last checkup. I told our ped we were going and this is what ours suggested. I had a terrible time finding the chewables!

Oh my Goodness...Thank heavens you are all ok! How scary!:scared1:

My SiL and DH both get motion sickness:eek:...SiL had the prescription, and she said she still felt sick, didn't have that great of an experience cruising and will probably never do it again...What a shame:sad2:! DH started taking the Dramamine the day before we sailed, and was groggy, lifeless, and just plain cranky:mad: and decided to stop taking it on the second day...his spirits lifted and he felt awesome-never got sick from the motion or otherwise. This time we are going to pack it just in case, but he does not plan on taking it unless he absolutely has too!:rolleyes1

Hey there fellow cruisers!!! I'm organizing a little group brunch in the private room at Palo! We've done this with fellow Disers before and it's the highlight of our trip!!! In fact, that's how the ejkjmom and Story families got to be so close and cruise together again.... and again....and again... :cool1:

Anyway - here is the deal: so far we have 8 (Storys, ejkjmom and husband; atinkerbellmom & husband; Donna and Russell), but for the private room we need at least 4 but no more than 6 more people to join us. For those of you not familiar with Palo - it's the "adult only" restaurant, with AMAZING, and I mean A-M-A-Z-I-N-G food and it costs $20 per person, plus a tip.

We are thinking of doing this on the first sea day - Monday.

So... PM me if you are interested. I can promise you that it will be a great time, and a great way for us to know each other better and become good friends. I'll give you more details when we have the whole group in place. First 4-6 people to reply are in!!:woohoo:

If you have questions, let me know. I am looking forward to getting a good group in place. :woohoo:

Ciao for now... Johnna

Thanks for the rental info! Dale is quite excited that he gets to wear one for formal night! The order is placed. I found a dress a few weeks ago, so that is done. I think that the girls might wear a princess dress that night.

:thumbsup2 You are welcome :)

If I remember right this is your first cruise? So don't know this or not..but they have photographers set up every evening to take pictures of whom ever so wishes (no setting fee), and I must say the pictures are really good..pricey but good;)

Formal night is one of the nights that we usually do like to have a family picture taken (although, I like to have a lot of photos taken through out the week... ...my family, NOT so much LOL)

Another BIG thing for all your 1st timers..... on Formal Night in the lobby before dinner is the Captions Reception which means FREE DRINKS!!!!! Both alcoholic and non, if I remember right they offer two different kinds of drinks, no limit;)
So we always TRY to get down to the lobby early enough to have a couple of drinks before dinner.:thumbsup2
The reception is held right before both the early and late dinning.

They offer wine as well, but I'm thinking that there may be a fee for that??? I"m not for sure though, as we are not wine drinkers, so maybe someone else can chime in on that.
