March 13th 2011 Fiesta time on the Wonder!

We are going to Hollywood all day Friday before the cruise. We are going to do a tour with Starline Tours. They have a hop on and hop off tour that does 4 different areas (loops). We are going to do the Hollywood & Santa Monica area. The Hollywood one stops at Pink's Hot Dogs. That is a must after my oldest DD saw it on the Travel Channel. I like the idea of hoping off of the bus at any point and catching the next bus when it comes by.

I would like to go to San Diego Zoo on Saturday but I think it is too far from where we will be staying. Google says it is 111 miles from Ontario Airport...that is not big deal for us, but we aren't used to the traffic either!

We booked this cruise a little while ago - subscribing to the thread.

As for what to do in the SoCal area, and NOT go to Disneyland - which I am having a hard time imagining myself :confused3
You might try going to the Queen Mary or the Spruce Goose, those are very popular. Or you can try one of the many missions that are in SoCal. Some of them are just beautiful and not too far from the port or Disneyland. There's always Hollywood, but despite how popular it is, I've always found it to be dirty. I'd rather do the mock-up of it at CA Adventure. Although, depending on what's playing, going and seeing the real El Capitan can be cool. We saw Pirates there one year. They had a museum setup downstairs with props from the film. It always changes, so you would have to check to see. The Kodak theater is right across the street, and we were there on a day when they were setting up for one of the awards shows. It was really cool to see all the stuff coming out, and the red carpet. The LA area also has lots of museums, so no matter what your tastes, you can probably find something.

:welcome: Aboard Aurora1959!!! And thanks for the suggestions!! We will not have transportation so we will have to take cabs or tours wherever we go. We were planning to stay in San Pedro near the port, but the reviews for the 5 or 6 hotels in the area are very bad. After seeing hopelea's post about Starline tours, I did a little research today and they run tours from the Anaheim & Buena Park area, and actually pick up @ the DL hotels. That looks like the route we might take.
Hopelea, Starline runs a tour from Anaheim to the San Diego Zoo. This is the list of tours available from Anaheim:

I have siblings. They
are Macy (12) Kasey&Kaleb (9, They are twins) :) Thanks!
-Jennah :D

We have 2 boys that will be on the cruise. Matt (11) and Isaiah (9), who will probably be looking for trouble...I mean friends.

There will be enough of us with vehicles that weekend that you should not have to pay for cabs. Something can be set up!

Never fear.

One of our fellow cruisers booked a GTY Cat 11.....well her room was assigned today! She was booked into a Cat 11. We were hoping that she would get a CAT 11 that sleeps four. She is a party of four, but could only book a Cat 11 GTY that slept 3 so we put one of her DD's in my room...hoping that she would get bumped to a room that sleeps four...well, she didn't.

If anyone has a CAT 11 room that sleeps four and only needs 3 beds...if you would swap once on board we would greatly appreciate it. She is booked into room #6085......

They don't have to change rooms. DW's cousin has 3 kids. On at least 2 occasions, we have booked their youngest in our room but she stays in their room anyway. I guess how this works would really depend on the age of the child though.

The dd's are 17 & 14. Can't sleep with the parents anymore! ;) I think I will suggest to her that they wait until the ship leaves port and then go to GS and see if there are any inside cabins that are available that they could change too! Or, bring an airmattress and blow it up every night!!

I know things will work out for them!

I have two boys and they will b 9 and 11 at the time of the cruise. Maybe they all can hang out.

That would be great! It seems like the last few we've been on there are tons of girls that age (son has a twin sister and she always has 5 or 6 new "best" friends on the cruises) but not so many boys.

Long time no talk gang - I have been away from the boards a while - but still planning on the cruise.

It's 107 here today in TX - so anything to get the mind off the heat is helping us endure!
