I had a blast today! Even the nasty, windy rain didn’t dampen my spirits. I stopped for 8 characters plus the castle and spaceship earth. Excited and nervous for tomorrow! Not sure I will make the meetup. I thought I would get to the starting area early but I’ve been prioritizing sleep and getting into my corral with about 10 minutes before it closes.

The results page says 13,099 finishers today—around 5,000 men and 8,000 women. Not sure how many were swept, but I doubt it was 6,000.

Except that presumably doesn't include all the people whose chips didn't work, which based on this group seems like a fairly large proportion.

Tomorrow is gonna be slow. Like sloowwww. Will probably bail early on the meetup to get more forward in the corral. Plan to try to do intervals until Bear Island Rd, and then play it by ear. Ankles got really cranky on the endless slanted ramps today. I do have a blister in a terrible spot. Will likely slap some Vaseline on it in the morning and hope for the best. I haven’t had one in 3 years, other than tiny ones on the tips of my toes a few times!

There have been random signs spotted by folks here but I think there’s been maybe one weekend where the full list leaked, and I’m not even sure how that happened.

It sounds ridiculous, but putting duct tape over it also works pretty well if you have some! It stays on well

Trying to catch up with the thread, but am pages and pages behind and hoping to get to bed soon, there is a marathon to run tomorrow! But wanted to share that I got lucky and my bib worked today, so here is hoping it does again tomorrow. I never got a different one. TBH I am going slow, and will be slower tomorrow so I am not concerned about my time, but I will want the medals!

Today was pretty tough, my leg held up really well for the 5k and 10k but I felt it a lot today. Makes me a bit anxious for tomorrow, but worse case I am walking to the finish! My daughter ran again with me today and for 10 miles she patiently stuck by me. I repeatedly told her to take off if she wanted. So with a 5k to go she ran off - poof and she was gone! I plugged along and met her in the reunion area. She smiled and shared she passed almost a 100 men over the last mile, she must have been flying! She is done now, but was great running the 3 races with her. Hoping next year (she will be 18) that we can run Dopey together, will be her first and my tenth!

Per RD CM they were prepared for 16,700ish runners to start today.

Not too sure on this new course, but I am a creature of habit. I dropped back to C (we started in wave 2) to run with friends and it was a bottleneck nightmare from the start. There just wasn’t enough areas on the course for runners to spread out. There were multiple areas where it took less effort (and faster) for me to just walk than do that uncomfortably slow run-shuffle.

Those numbers were estimates based on assigned bib numbers. There's always a sizable DNS contingent and then you have to add in the DNFs, both real and imagined, which are going to be much much higher than usual due to the chip issues.

Our corral leader told me that the half (total) had 16,500 based on bibs picked up as of Friday night. She said a few more could have been picked up this morning. And that the full would be less.

Nothing new on race day but damn if I’m not tempted by coffee. Or maybe an IV drip of caffeine.

Just walked by a group hanging out in the Yacht club lobby who are definitely NOT dressed for running!
