Woken up by beeping vehicles at BWV

Just back from a week at BWV and we had a fantastic time.

One issue, though, is this: We were in the standard view rooms that overlook the parking lot and tennis courts and we were woken up every night at around 4-5 am by service vehicles beeping (presumably the beeping is a warning beep when the vehicles use reverse gear).

Has anyone else been disturbed by this? If so, surely we could ask for the beepers to be turned off as I can't see that they serve a real safety purpose in the middle of the night.

Best wishes

Nick

I stayed in a standard view studio at BWV a few summers ago, and didn't have that problem. I was down a little further from the valet area (I was across from the bus stop), but I didn't hear any noise at all from that location. Did you request a room change while you were there, or speak to anyone about your concerns?

We had a room in that area in December. I noticed the beeping noise more aound 8-9 AM. It was by a service road gate when there were laundry carts going to and fro.

We were just there 4/10-17 with a standard view. Did not get awoken by any reverse beeping noises. We were awoken one morning when they were erecting the scaffolding.

I'm sorry you were disturbed--but I doubt they would be willing to turn off the beepers. There is probably a state law that requires such commercial vehicles to have those warning systems in place 24/7.

That happened to us at Old Key West this past February and drove me NUTS! We asked to be moved but they couldn't do it. From now on I will request to be placed away from laundry cart beepers. Not good for light sleepers...and not fun to wake up at 5-6am on vacation!!!

As a result of this I sent an email from within the DVC website.

To my surprise, I was telephoned by someone from DVC yesterday (Sunday!) who apologised for the disturbance and said that he would contact BWV to see if something could be done.

It will be interesting to hear from someone staying in BWV standard view rooms in the future to see if this has been resolved.

Best wishes

FYI, there's no switch on those beepers. They are mounted on the transmission at the shifter. Removing them is probably not going to be an option.

In NC, they are for safety and I don't think they are legally required yet but they do get insurance deducts.

Arguably, they are needed more at night when you can't see as well (the drivers) as you can in daylight.

We had that problem but way at the other end of the building, preferred view 4004/6(?) almost at the end of the loooonnnng hallway. I assumed it was the garbage pick-up for Jellyrolls at around 4/5am. Very annoying.

we were there the same time...(4/16-4/19) in a BWV standard view studio..also had the parking lot view..2nd studio on the right after you make the last turn down the hallway...we were on the 4th floor....one morning I did hear beeping....but didn't hear anything the other days

Last year, we were in a SV right near the entrance and the MAGICAL ExPRESS luggage delivery!! YES, I could hear the beep beep beep every day. And also the luggage being rolled onto the platforms (on and off the truck every hour)

Last week we had a preferred view room around the quiet pool. This was a NICE room- 1st floor and very quiet except for the Lawn mowers outside at exactly 8:30 am 2 days out of 7!!:scared1:

Then on Grad nite (friday and Saturday) was awoken at 12:00 AM with a private showing of fireworks overlooking the water (where fantasmic takes place) and they were LOUD!!! But the fireworks were spectular!!!

But hey!! I was at Disney and if that was the only problem of the week-- I'll take more day of being woken up at Disney by a lawn mower;)

I don't know which building, but it was all the way in the very back and the last building to the right. Our room faced the golf course and there was a little roadway for carts under the window. It was awful.

Travel tip of the day: travel with a white noise machine. It blocks out everything, from beeping trucks, loud fireworks, kids screaming down the hallway at 2 am, and drunken golfers (this last one was at Pinehurst). You'll never regret packing one in your suitcase!!!

you were not hearing a vehicle backing up..

Jim Lewis was taking his normally scheduled stroll around BWV, and was followed by several disgruntled and censored (Disney is a family place:goodvibes) DISers
