Marathon Weekend 2025

It would've been really nice if they'd been consistent about pulling and talking to people about this at the end...

Also, the correct solution to the snack box issue is to just politely accept one, move on, and give me the chips and cheese...
dont give him the chips and cheese...i will literally pay you for it.

this is all i have left for today - im freaking out.

I started in the first wave of E and things were a bit crowded at points (they put a water stop in the Grand Floridian bridge area?!), but overall not too bad and I actually got to run through the castle!

@The Expert i heard the announcers talking about someone running with an umbrella. Was that you?

Also Bare Necessities has replaced Mack the Knife as my ear worm.

I was featured by runDisney on Instagram today! I’m the last photo (Peter— which is me— and Neverland). We were stopped by a CM on the course who asked to take our photo.
Wooo so were me and my sister! Imagine my surprise, scrolling through instagram and my face pops up as the feature photo for the 10K photo dump😱 Our first race (and faces lol) immortalized on their grid. I think we’ve reached the pinnacle too soon, how will we top this?!😅

They had rubber ducky keychains waiting at the bus stop back at Saratoga. I would post a picture, but it's on the other side of the room and I'm not getting up any more than absolutely necessary until it's time to go to AK in a couple hours 😄😄

I have no idea how I'm not going to die tomorrow.

Also, my playlist thinks it's funny again: as soon as I got on that stupid narrow path to MK, it started playing Highway to Hell I don't know how it knows, but it knows...

Someone on the bus yesterday gave DH THREE fake cheeses and a pack of toast from their race boxes because they were disgusted by them. Some people have no taste—I love the fake cheese. 🤣

On Mainstreet USA, I saw a sign that said, “Run like your Guardians boarding group just got called.”
Haha, this was actually me during Springtime last year, but for Tron. My pace for the first 7ish miles was great, so I was planning on taking the last 3 very easy and stopping for all the characters. I somehow managed to get BG 1 for Tron during the race. Had to finish the race, get back to the hotel to change and get my mom who was waiting there for me and get to MK lol.

Don't know that you can. Leave on a high note, per George....

im mostly worried about coast to coast knowing there are 2 runDisneys in operation so i just dont trust they communicate well at all.
My maybe-spicy take here is that they should just give the medals to anyone who signed up for the qualifying races. They screwed up, they can’t require people to keep their own time. Would guess it’s a small percentage of DNS/DNF for this race who might go over to DL to complete the challenge. If they get a medal they didn’t deserve oh well.

I like clever, so I love reading the spectator signs. The more clever and the more they make me laugh, the better.
Golf clap for the Guardians sign (which wouldn't work so well at other venues, but perfect for MW).

I just got back from a 1 mile walk on mostly dry streets, and then scraping ice off the windshields. Time to do something somewhat more productive.

Congrats to everyone who finished this morning. Someone (apologies for not remembering exactly who) had mentioned that this would be their first Half. Way to go! MW was also my first Half, and you couldn't have done it in a better setting. Ditto to everyone else completing their first (of hopefully many) Halfs.
And if you're thinking "one and done", yeah, that's what I thought as well.
Check any number of the signature files on this forum for how well that worked out....

Wow, that wait in the corral sucked. I felt bad for the people who had no ponchos or mylar. They were soaked when the race started. The rain wasn’t that bad. But the wind made it nasty.

I told myself that with the rain and wet course that I wasn’t going to go hard. Just take it easy and save my legs for tomorrow. I never felt like I was really pushing it, but ended up with a PR. I will take it.

All in all I thought the course was pretty good. But I felt like there were more sharp turns than normal. I was waiting for my knee to go one way and my body the other. And yes, I still hate the angled on-ramps.

Just got done stuffing my face with waffles at CBR. Headed to Epcot for Guardians and then headed back early to get some sleep for the 1:45am wake up. One more to go!

Here are my random thoughts on the new course and todays race:

Positives
  • Cone Alley and the walkway weren’t as crowded as I expected. How was that area later in the race?
  • Absolutely LOVED having the Electric Water Pageant staged next to the pathway
  • Great character selection (Robin Hood, Prince John, Sheriff of Nottingham, Hitchhiking Ghosts to name my faves)
  • Seemed like more park time in MK

Not So Great
  • Feels like Epcot is underused. Too much backstage time and not enough “real” park time. How about channeling some of that backstage time into a World Showcase loop?
  • I miss Bob’s Barricades. I mean, Acme Barricades are fine and functional, but they’re missing that personal touch Bob brought to the course.

All in all, I thought the new course was fine, but didn’t knock my socks off. I’ll be interested to see what the marathon is like tomorrow.

On a different note, I’m afraid tomorrow is going to be more of an adventure than I’d hoped. My hamstring certainly does not have a friend in me. It started talking back to me around mile 8-9 today and I dropped to run/walk intervals to minimize the aggravation as much as possible. I’m going to spend today trying to keep it loose and spamming it with Vitamin I. We’ll see what that the chilly morning brings tomorrow, but I’m afraid it’s going to be less a victory lap and more Lightning trying to push Mr The King across the finish line. Ka-Ow!

Soooooo what do I need to know about *possible* blister care? I’ve got a spot just below my big toe that’s either chafed or the verrrrry beginning of a blister.

So fun to run a few miles with @Disney at Heart and @Kerry1957 and @The Expert this morning!

@Naomeri it’s normal to feel awful at this point. Rest, get your legs in a pool (it really helps!) and don’t overdo it today

I'm only doing Safari, FotLK, and FoP, all on LL. I'll think about if I can handle getting partway into a pool (it will have to be in my running shorts because I didn't bother with packing a swimsuit with the weather forecast)
