Marathon Weekend 2017!

In some cases, yes. If you're running the Half, Full, Goofy or Dopey - RunDisney releases corrals that have numbers that correspond with bib numbers so you can see where you're at.

For the 5K/10K, they do NOT release corrals in advance for those - you find those out at the Expo - though a cursory Google Image search (and asking around here!) will give you an idea where you might be compared to last previous years.
Awesome, thanks! Hubby and I are running the full without POT, so are fully expecting the last corral. Still like to know ahead of time!

Make sure you select an Estimated Time of Finish from the drop down! That will be what helps keep you out of the last corral!

Glad to know that does make a difference! Since you need POT for 5:30 and under, we selected 6 hours.

Ok folks, what are all your guesses about the new POT requirements? I am debating on whether I should submit a time or not for the half. My POT puts me at about 3:10, but that was over a year ago and with my current training, I am confident I can get under 3:00. POT is not "required" for me, but in the past, anyone who did not submit a time was put into the last corral. Should I put my goal time as 3:00 and not submit a time (and risk the last corral), or should I put 3:10 and submit a time and hope it bumps me up from the last corral?

I know there are other forums focused primarily on dining options, but I trust everyone here so I figured I'd ask my question and see if anyone had opinions.

We've made reservations for Tusker House for lunch on December 30th. Our group includes 5 kids (7,5,4,3,1) and the reservation was made primarily for the character dining and ability to have a bit of a break in the middle of our day. Any opinions on the food and overall experience? Any insight is appreciated. Thanks!

I've only done breakfast here but do I have a dinner reservation in January. It's a character buffet. If you've done Boma I would compare it to that. You have Donald, daisy, Mickey, and Pluto in Safari gear. The overall experience is very good and it's well themed. They do have some adventurous foods and some non adventurous foods.

It will be our first Disney Marathon weekend (7th disney trip). I'm doing the half and DH is doing Goofy. I have two questions!

1. We are flying in on thursday and plan to visit the expo that afternoon/ evening. Will a lot of booths be sold out of things?
2. We want to do one of the Magic Kingdom tours (probably Marceline to Mainstreet), should we do it on Friday morning or on Monday morning after the races?

Thanks!

I love Tusker House! I've done breakfast and lunch there. Goofy and Daisy were the best as far as character interaction with the child in our party. Goofy realllly hammed it up. The food is very good for a buffet. There are enough bland options to suit anyone who's picky, but also some slightly more adventurous items for the adults who want to try something with an African flair.

1. It depends on what you are looking for. Most items should still be available.

2. Either day should be good for the tour.

I would submit a POT. I believe if you submit a POT you will be at least one ahead of the last. Get it in TODAY!!! Today is the last day for this marathon weekend.

I loved Tusker lunch a few years ago! It is really loud in there and a little chaotic I think, but it doesn't personal bother me. It was a quick serve first so not built with the idea of a buffet, but it works out pretty well. So many good food choices. I'm vegetarian too and there was just so much I could eat right from the buffet. I didn't find the spices as spice heavy as I found Boma's to be (which I do not like Boma's). Characters were great (although I think we got missed by someone & didn't feel like waiting any longer for them) My niece and nephew were with us and got plenty of interaction.

POT is only needed if you are planning on running the half faster than 2:45 for the half. If your estimated time is slower than that you will be placed in the corral based on your estimated time. There is no need for a POT, and it is unlikely that the POT will even be looked at. If you plan on being faster than 2:45 and don't submit a POT you will be placed in the last corral.

QUESTION

For anyone that signed up for the 5K or Dopey - when you pick your 5K shirt size, what are the options?

I transferred to Dopey recently and there was only one shirt size section for me to pick from...in the past there has been 2 (one for the tech shirts and one for the unisex 5K shirt).

Eh? :confused3 Now that they have gone to metal medals, my biggest wish for runDisney is to get women's cut 5K shirts, so I'm hopeful...or wondering if it's an error since runDisney's website still says there's a unisex shirt for the 5K.

I'd put a goal of 2:45 and submit the POT you have. It's your best option and might keep you out of the last corral.

When I registered for Dopey, back on opening day, I only had one shirt size to select. Maybe they are switching to gender specific cuts??? The runDisney site also still says a medallion for the 5K and not a medal.

Very much looking forward to running Dopey in January - my first runDisney!

I have a question about the runDisney MagicBands. Anybody know when they tend to come out (looks like not until January last year)? Are they sold only at the Expo? And if so, any idea how quickly they sell out?

SO and I are both running Dopey, would love to get runDisney magic bands, but have an ADR at Be Our Guest at noon on Expo day. I thought the Expo opened earlier and that we could go there first then to lunch, but now I see it doesn't open until noon. Very unfortunate, since I cannot move that ADR up to later. So now one of us has to skip lunch or else we risk sold out merchandise if we go after lunch. :(

I know some don't sell out as I bought my pink runDisney magic band at the outlet during Princess weekend this year.

Normally I listen to music but have found that on longer runs sometimes the music becomes too much. So I have started listening to some running podcasts. Mostly I run to either The Ginger Runner or Runner of a Certain Age. Both are very funny and full of great tips and race reports. As I have dipped my toe into ultra races I have found The Ginger Runner to be great! I also recommend his YouTube channel, he does some fantastic race videos.

I love The Ginger Runner! I always watch his YouTube shoe reviews. :)
