Marathon Weekend 2016

I believe the rule is if you run a multi-race combination not officially sanctioned, you get to name it after a character, like 'The Waldo' or 'The Baloo'. It also means you own the rights to the 29.3 magnets for cars.

I would whole heartedly support 'The Baloo' for a unofficial challenge name. But it would have to include the drinking of chocolate milk upon finishing the last race!

1. What major accomplishment are you most pleased with achieving in 2015 as it pertains to running?
2. What are your running goals for 2016?

1. Finishing Dopey #2. I am little disappointed in not really pushing myself this past year. I finished all the races i planned to run and was not particularly disappointed in any of them, I just didn't make as many positive strides as i should have.

2. Finishing Dopey #3. Running a sub-2:00 Half. Running a sub-1:50 Half. Preparing for Dopey #4 a little better than I prepared for Dopey #3. Continuing to enjoy this hobby; a notion that would have been laughable to me just five years ago.

First things first. Since its the last day of the month and year its time to post your final numbers!

QOTD:

I think I will stay with the multi question answer format today, so here it goes.

1. What major accomplishment are you most pleased with achieving in 2015 as it pertains to running?
2. What are your running goals for 2016?

I thought I ran more miles this month than I really did, but still very happy with my monthly and yearly outcome.
December: 147.5 miles
2015: 1,636.5 miles

QOTD:
1) I have two things I am really proud of this year. One, My PR's in the Half (1:50:25) and Full (4:05:16) were huge improvements for me. Two, my younger daughters (unsolicited) interest in running with me and the three 5k's we have now run together; and that she want's to do four in 2016, one for each season.
2) My goals for 2016 are to take a bite out of my PR's in the Half and Full and to complete/survive my first Ultra.

I would whole heartedly support 'The Baloo' for a unofficial challenge name. But it would have to include the drinking of chocolate milk upon finishing the last race!
"I'm running the Baloo." I love it! No one will have a clue what I'm talking about which makes it even better.

I still like singly marathon, too, for the deeper meaning of, "I'm running a dang marathon, people!!!"

Oh cool, I've always wanted to do a Ragnar! How was it? It sounds like it would be a lot of fun!

The Ragnar Trail Relay was much more of a challenge, but more enjoyable than a Road Relay race. Loved having the central camp location for the start of the 3 different trails. There were about 180 teams doing it, and it was a pretty big party in the camp location. I will probably do it again this fall.

In comparison, I did Texas Independence Relay a couple of years ago, which was the road relay race. I don't like the fact that Ragnar is coming to Central Texas about two weeks after TIR

Total Mileage for December: 48.91 miles (getting myself over the "Dopey" mark was the goal of this morning's 2 mile run)

Mileage for 2015:
Races: 8.1 miles (a 5K and a 5-miler)
Outdoor Runs: 458.53 miles
Treadmill: 11.95 miles (I really tried to avoid the treadmill this year, and I was fairly successful!)
TOTAL 2015 MILEAGE: 478.58 miles

QOTD:

I think I will stay with the multi question answer format today, so here it goes.

1. What major accomplishment are you most pleased with achieving in 2015 as it pertains to running?
2. What are your running goals for 2016?

ATTQOTD:
1. I think it's a three-way tie:
A) My races - both my first race (the Freezing Frozen 5K in February) and my first solo race (Prospect Park 5 Mile Turkey Trot in November)
B) Running 7 miles for the first time. That was a milestone I hit earlier than I thought I would, and it was a good run and it felt really good to hit that milestone.
C) Finally feeling like a runner (and not just someone who occasionally puts on running clothes and slow jogs in the park)

2. This is a tough one. I've struggled a lot with running over the past month or so, and I've been thinking about giving it up. So I'm really going to have to think about whether or not I want to set goals for 2016. If I do continue running ... my first half marathon is a possibility (but not very likely), and I would like to do a few more local runs, because I did enjoy the one I did on Thanksgiving.

For the ultra crowd yall could run the Rouge Orleans race. Its 126.2 mile on top of the levee from Baton Rouge to NOLA. One of these days I will do it as part of a team.

QOTD:
1. What major accomplishment are you most pleased with achieving in 2015 as it pertains to running?
2. What are your running goals for 2016?

December total - 238.8 miles (PR)
Yearly total - 1916 miles (PR, beat last year's 1,097 miles)

1. Meeting two of my lifetime running goals: 4:00 marathon (3:38) and a 100 minute half-marathon (1:38)
2. Working towards the sub-3 hr, but I'm thinking that's more of a 2017/2018 goal. Hoping to break 3:20 at Chicago.

My year total is just under 1200km although I only started tracking my distance in March so I suspect I have ran a few more kms.

1. I'm mostly proud of my 1.44.01 half marathon pr in April and the fact I've kept to all my training plans this year (except the last through weeks due to injury).

2. Sort my knee out is a priority and then regain some of my speed. Actually that's all second, firstly get me some Dopey medals!!

Wishing you all a happy new year and here's to a happy and injury free 2016!

Taper time? What is taper time?

According to my Garmin, my "Taper" has consisted of a long run followed by three straight 15+-mile days in theme parks, and then a trip to Typhoon Lagoon yesterday, where I "swam" almost 6 miles.

My final pair of new shoes FINALLY arrived today, so I'll be breaking them in tomorrow at EPCOT for NYE. I'll also be renting a locker to store two different pairs of socks, a pair of Chucks, a pair of Reefs and a pair of Oofos ... because, you know, you need four pairs of shoes for a holiday at EPCOT. :guilty:

#WompWomp

Your exactly like me the minute I get within 5 minutes of Disney. I think my trainer hates me and Disney together because he knows the minute I get there he has a better chance of me trying to do an pack swim sometimes then running. But then I walk a rediculous amount also at the parks.

Definitely hitting taper this week. Last run of the year and both my ankle and hip threw a fit at different points in the 6 miler. Checked the wear on my shoes to be sure when I finished. They are fine it's just my body being taper silly.

Oh yeah total mileage was 1051 miles for 2015.

As for the QOTDs:

1. Finishing my first ultra definitely tops my 2015 accomplishments.

2. Finding time to squeeze another 50 mile race between surgeries. Because I really like these long races.

Oh and hopefully break through the sub 5hr barrier sometime in 2016.

A friend recently told me that the guy that did 50 marathons in 50 days, in all 50 states is going to be running Disney with us. Thought is was kinda cool. Any other notable runners participating this year?

QOTD:

I think I will stay with the multi question answer format today, so here it goes.

1. What major accomplishment are you most pleased with achieving in 2015 as it pertains to running?
2. What are your running goals for 2016?
.

1. I am most pleased with going from never running more than a casual 5k to running a half marathon in June and 3 total for 2015.

2. For 2016, I would like to return to full running by March and complete at least 6 halfs, including the Coast to Coast Challenge. I am undecided whether to try for a full marathon after this fall's debacle leading up to next weekend.

I didn't really track my mileage closely - monthly or yearly - but I will for 2016! Maybe I'll even get a fancy watch for Mother's Day!

QOTD:

1. 2015 was a big year for me running-wise: I ran my first 10 miler and my first half marathon, plus signed up for and trained for a marathon. I think turning 40 pushed me out of my 5K/10K rut.
2. 2016 goals: Of course finish my first marathon and then begin training for a local 25K (River Bank Run) that has always been on my bucket list.

Hey! This is my 2nd Disney race but first marathon. Had a few questions about Sunday.

Do all the individuals that bought the cheer squad platinum package need to pick them up at the expo? I bought one for my husband, older child, dad and disabled mother. Do they all (including two under 4) need to go to the expo?

Also... The finish line is in the Epcot parking lot? So I'm assuming they don't need park tickets?

Thanks!!!!

First things first. Since its the last day of the month and year its time to post your final numbers!
I'm sitting at an even 100 for Dec. and still have 4 miles planned tonight... I kinda don't want to count them because 100 is such a nice, round number, lol!

WEATHER UPDATE:
Not enough has changed to list everything out. Its either going to be hot (weather channel) or it will be nice (accuweather). A third option would consist of a hurricane followed by 2' of snow in a 4 hour window starting at 5:30AM marathon morning.
:rotfl2: I'm looking at both now and they're falling within a few degrees of one another marathon Sunday. Both agree on lots of clouds, though, which would be good!

QOTD:

1. What major accomplishment are you most pleased with achieving in 2015 as it pertains to running?
2. What are your running goals for 2016?

1. Getting up to 22+ miles without a flare-up of ITBS (knock on wood)! This is HUGE, as it's a chronic issue for me.
2. Finish the WDW marathon next week. Anything else is gravy. :)

So excited to run the half in a week, I didn't get my milage to where it needed to be but you know wha I think I can make at least ten running then maybe some walking :)
