Marathon Weekend 2016

Just glanced at the forecast for marathon day and accuweather and weather channel have near identical forecast. The good news the models are starting to agree, the bad news... The low is 60 or 62 :(

QOTD:

I think I will stay with the multi question answer format today, so here it goes.

1. What major accomplishment are you most pleased with achieving in 2015 as it pertains to running?
2. What are your running goals for 2016?

1. Finishing the Comrades up run and getting my back to back medal. The hardest and most challenging race I've done. I felt like quitting 10 miles in.
2. Finish the Medoc marathon upright. I'm not really focused on running in 2016, more geared towards my Ironman, but I'd like to think I can waddle 26 miles while drinking wine and still party at the end.

1. Not getting hurt.:crutches:
2. Not to get hurt.

I know, no creativity points for me! :rolleyes1

No creativity points, but still very important. Getting to the start line injury free is more than half the battle.

Dec. mileage: 272 miles
Yearly mileage: 2473 miles

QOTD:
1) 2015 will be tough to beat. a) PRs at 10k, half, and full distances b) mileage PRs for year and 11 of 12 months
2) set a marathon PR in a week. Stay healthy

Happy New Year

Oh wow your questions have really got the forum busy these last few days well done!!

I missed the last one too so here it goes

1) Hug my Dad and Sister and probably cry
2) Drink all the alcohol (I'm not limiting myself to beer)
3) Eat all the food

Next questions

1) Finishing my first marathon
2) I've no major goals other than Dopey itself, I'd like to run a half marathon a set a new PR of around 2hrs.

ONE MORE SLEEP TILL DISNEY!

First off, happy new year - wishing much health and happiness to all! :)

1. I set a goal on January 1 to run 15 races (I have a very demanding, travel-centric job), and I finished my 15th Thanksgiving weekend. Did not race at all in June, August, or December, so pretty happy with that! My second half marathon ever was in January, and then I completed 4 more. Two 10Ks, six 5Ks, and a couple 2-milers which totally count because they were in summer in Florida.

2. In 2016 I'm going to focus on the half marathon distance. Because I've been training for Dopey and running various distance races, I feel like my 2015 training was all over the place and didn't allow me to improve in any of them. So I've picked the half marathon to work on in 2016 since I'm currently scheduled for 3 rD halfs. My non-running resolution is to devote more time to my poor guitar that has been collecting dust. Music soothes the savage beast and all that.

Happy to New Year to all and stay safe.

Milage 1751 for the year.

I'm in a pretty similar boat.

My biggest accomplishment in 2015 was breaking 1:40 for a half.

For 2016, I'd really like to qualify for Boston which likely means a 3:11 full for me.

Comrades is a bucket list race, and if anyone reading this hasn't heard of it do yourselves a favour and look it up. Bart Yasso hand-picked Comrades to be his final race, which speaks volumes. And you did it back-to-back years? Awesome.
Which Ironman are you doing? Dubai? Bahrain? Somewhere in Europe? You can literally find a race in every corner of the world...

Welcome!! I will also be in corral I! My bib is 44xx and I'll be wearing an Incredibles tank top and a tutu. Good luck fellow Michigander!

Good luck to you too! I'm not sure yet what I'll be wearing but I'll look for you!

December Mileage 119
Yearly Total 1046 (I had a goal of 1000 this year still hard to believe I actually did it)

1. What major accomplishment are you most pleased with achieving in 2015 as it pertains to running?
2. What are your running goals for 2016?

1. I am most pleased with running a race every month and sometimes two (total of 15)
2. Finish The Marathon and Challenge myself with new adventures (already signed up for Battlefrog and have a 50k that I am eyeing)

also for anyone curious about the new NB RunDisney shoes the virtual queue is supposed to open Wednesday morning at 6 am eastern

in addition heres a funny for everyone...

I know I'm being stupid, but I'm really starting to get annoyed about this lack of merchandise preview thing. I know Disney is not obligated to show us anything, but we've gotten used to seeing it a few weeks before the races, and it's something I look forward to, whether or not I'm doing a race.
We're now less than a week out, and no preview. Which actually has real world implications for me, because we're packing now and if there's a shirt I like in the merch preview, I might buy it to wear on the trip, meaning I don't have to pack as much clothing. (And yes, I know that I shouldn't depend on buying something because things sell out ... but I always try to bring an extra outfit so that I'm safe if things don't go as planned)

Anyway ... I know I'm being whiny, but I'm kinda pissed.

I'm with you. For some reason the last few races rD has not been releasing merch previews more than a couple of days out. I also don't understand the sudden lock down on releasing photos of the official race shirts; I feel like that used to be part of the week before the race fun/build up, and not the release of the shirt designs only at the Expo ends up being lost in the shuffle of all the other race and expo excitement. Very strange.

Also, I can't believe that NB hasn't released the new shoe designs yet. Hoping we get some sort of additional preview over the weekend, but I'm not holding my breath.

It is very strange, and coupled with the apparent Dooney snafu makes me wonder what's happening at rD HQ.

On the other hand, if this is an attempt to curb eBay scalpers, I am 100% supportive. Those people really irritate me. Especially after my PHM magnet was stolen off my car (why would anyone do that? And they left other rD race magnets).

First things first. Since its the last day of the month and year its time to post your final numbers! So go ahead and get that last run in, the year is almost over! If you don't run today, you will have to wait till next year. (This sounds a lot funnier in my head than it actually is...)

I haven't run yet today, but will put what I have for now and update later.
December Total = 115.26
2015 Total = 1,122.84

I have to many excuses for 2015 to explain the above.

WEATHER UPDATE:
Not enough has changed to list everything out. Its either going to be hot (weather channel) or it will be nice (accuweather). A third option would consist of a hurricane followed by 2' of snow in a 4 hour window starting at 5:30AM marathon morning.

ATTQOTD:
1. I think my PR from a mid October half marathon is my biggest running accomplishment of the year.
2. I calling 2016 the year of PR's! My goal is to PR in the following race distance and hopeful time to hit by years end.
5k - Sub 20:00
10k - Sub 41:00
10M - Sub 1:07:00
13.1M - Sub 1:30:00
26.2M - Sub 3:11:00

Some of these goals are much closer than others, and some I may not get in 2016. But I do believe a PR in each based on times listed in my Sig below will be broken by this time next year. Hopefully the full marathon time will be the first to change next weekend!

Happy to New Year to all and stay safe.

First my mileage. I'm not posting my monthly mileage because I am ashamed of it. I didn't strictly track my yearly but I added up my RunKeeper miles and estimated my treadmill mileage. I did roughly 800 for the year. Overall not too bad considering I took about 6 weeks off because of my foot.

1. My major accomplishment was that I kept this going after last year's ToT. That it wasn't a fad. That I worked hard and didn't give up even when I was injured (which turned out to be a mistake). But in the past I would have quit when things got tough. But I trained with Plantar Fascitis and did a 1/2 marathon that was nothing but hills and still managed just over 2:00.

2. My 2016 goals are plentiful:
-Going into my second full year of this running thing I am setting a goal of at least 1273 miles for the year. (The amount of miles from my house to the Grand Floridian (my favorite resort).
- Lose 20 lbs, this should help my speed
- Get into the 7's for min per mile pace.
- Would love to do another Disney race but some personal stuff might make the marathon trip my last trip to Disney for a long time.
- focus on cross training. I need to strengthen my core to help improve my pace

Happy New Year everyone. 8 days from now I will be home.
