Marathon Weekend 2016

I'm ready to see merch.

Not much of a merch guy, but I am hoping to see the race shirts pretty soon.

Considering the record with the last couple of Disney races I've done. I'm half expecting both the week of. I know both were posted several weeks earlier last year but I am in a bit of a pessimistic mood right now.

I'm not optimistic about race shirts until the weekend of - rD pretty much shut down the leakage of race shirts at Disneyland Half and W&D (and possibly Avengers, but I wasn't paying attention to that race weekend). Like so far as to threaten volunteers with revocation of park tickets and things if they took pictures of race things ahead of time.

Oh well, I guess we only get the excitement of seeing them for the first time once regardless of whether it's a couple weeks early or when we pick them up at the expo. Kind of crazy that they are so protective, they leak pretty much everything else from race weekend themselves. Races are just around the corner, so I can wait.

I have already registered for Triathlon Expo NY and going to run the full in 2016, and work hard on it now a days.I suppose my dh will do the 5k. I can't wait! I'm satisfied to look others are already planning that a long way beforehand additionally, my circle of relatives thinks it is kinda loopy to plot races up to now earlier.....

Why do they say its 1.2 miles from Mexico to Canada? The 5K course map in the event guide barely makes it .80 miles! If you started at the fork and went completely around back to the fork, you might get closer to 1 mile.

As a Canadian I can assure you that it is more than 1.2 miles from Mexico to Canada...try closer to 1200 miles!

I think that hasn't started usually until closer to registration (which for APs isn't until late Jan). So no.

My magic bands were tracked as "delivered to front door" on Monday but we never got them. I waited and waited for a neighbor to drop them off (our mail is really really bad at delivering us all the wrong packages.) But nothing. I even creepily drove down our street staring at front porches looking for a disney-ish box. So I called Disney today and they are re-sending our bands in next few days so hopefully it works out. I have this weird image of someone eviley wearing all my bands and cackling. Of course now they will show up today since I did that.

In other news, my husband who is not running the races but being my cheerleader, started running this Fall and he wants to hit 100 miles on his Nike+ app by the end of the year. So we are both going to keep kicking each other's backsides to get out the door all the way through the new year!

Question for you...you've stayed in Bay Lake Tower before right? I am doing online check-in and I see room request options. Do you have any tips on room requests? We have standard view so we know a view of the MK is unlikely unless something really good happens.

Yup, stayed there back in October. We were Standard view (studio) as well, which gave us a view of the pool and Bay Lake out back. The only request I made was a higher floor, and I believe we were on 5 or 6, so we received a mid-level. The room was nice and we had no complaints...pretty view from the balcony and the best tip I can give you is to check out the Top of the World Lounge if you are a DVC member...amazing views from up there, especially if there are fireworks at MK!

Just something to pass the time. I know it's not worth the paper is written on, but I enjoy watching things develop. The cold front headed your way is going to make its way through Baton Rouge, LA this evening. Currently 71 and 91% RH. Saturday morning will be 34!
