While preparing for my pre-cruise stay in the Cape Canaveral area, I spent a lot of time reading and researching Shirley's incredible post Helpful Information For You. I then started wondering how I was ever going to find my way around. I decided that I needed to create a customized map (I love maps). When I was done, I thought maybe some of you here might find it useful. Please feel free to use it however you see fit.

I think this is a pretty good representation of the hotels, restaurants and shopping listed by Shirley (and one or two additions). It's probably more useful for helping you find the places she writes about than it is as a map on its own.

Disclaimer: I can't guarantee the accuracy of this map - use it at your own risk. I haven't been to the area in almost 20 years, so I can't claim any first-hand knowledge of this place at all. Please let me know if you find any glaring errors.

Great Idea, and Great Job!!!:thumbsup2

Thanks for it. I will be printing it out..:cool1: :cool1: :cool1:

Wow! Thank you for the map! Looking forward to cruising (I think we are on the same cruise)

If you like, here is something to add to your map - local orange groves.

There are two not far off the beaten path:
.. 1) Policicchio Groves - a few miles north of the Beachline on SR 3.
.. 2) Crisafulli Groves - a couple of blocks south of Policicchio, on SR 3.

If you are planning to visit Kennedy Space Center, both of these groves are on the way.

-----

PS: I don't recommend citrus the morning of your cruise. Perhaps too much acid. ;)

Oops, just a few typo's on the map:
Thai Thai Restaurant
Resort on Cocoa Beach
Zachary's Restaurant

Remove A1A next to SR 528 (the Beachline). Same road, but SR 528 runs East/West and A1A runs North/South.

In case someone is trying to program their GPS. :-)

Otherwise, great job!!

Thanks everyone for the comments. I'll work on a few corrections. An update coming soon.

Thanks Shirey. But I need to thank you for all the work you did on your post. Excellent information.

Yep, I saw you on our cruise meet thread. It's getting close. See you soon.

Just thank you so much bigAWL for doing such a great job - it took a lot of time, a lot of studing, a lot of everything that I imagine you were seeing dots in your dreams ;-) to bring it to such a success. I put the link on the helpful board so it will keep on going when we aren't around. I really believe it makes folks coming here, feel just a little safer and secure.

Ok, I finally updated the map with a few suggested changes. Hope it helps some people. Unfortunately, I won't get to use it very much. I waited too long to make my cocoa beach hotel reservations (just couldn't decide where to stay). But now I find out that the space shuttle launch is scheduled for the day I wanted to stay there (May 31), and now all the rooms are booked for miles around it seems.

Oh, well. I guess that means one more night at WDW instead (we're staying at Shades of Green for 6 nights (now 7) before our 4-day Wonder cruise). Oh, the hardship!

FANTASTIC map!

And, thanks to Shirley for the link from her thread!

While I'm purusing this map and sending it to my sister.....

Will she have any tolls when driving from Cocoa Beach to the Kennedy Space Center?

Thanks!

Thanks!.

There is no tolls at all here in Brevard County - its only once you are in Orlando that the tolls start.
ENJOY!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Very nice...I copy and pasted it to a microsoft publisher doc, resized and printed. Thanks!
