Make sure you have a clean record before you cruise

Nice they let her have her cruise before arresting her. If she showed up on the list, I'm surprised they didn't grab her before they set sail.

I think they wanted to make sure it was her before they hauled her away. However, you take the chance that she will use the cruise as a chance to flee the country to escape the law!

I wonder if they made her take off her Mickey Mouse ears b/4 they snapped the mug shot? :rotfl:

Maybe its very misleading and encorrect and should have said somthing like *all cruise lines*

Oh good grief.

I don't see what was misleading or "encorrect" about it, (she was arrested, and she was on a Disney cruise) but if I were posting on an ALL CRUISE LINE board, I sure will title it that way.

Just my opinion but since it was obviosuly a situation that could happen on all lines, the way it was posted implys it was DCL fault. It should have been posted as possible on all line.. Thus is was misleading and as misleading, thus incorrect.

Why wouldn't they have checked this when they issued the passport? Seems to me like you wouldn't want to issue a passport to someone with outstanding warrants of any type?

You can commit a crime AFTER you have a passport?

I believe a passport is just identification. They do have the right to pull it if they don't want you leaving the country but I think for your average citizen even if they have some unpaid speeding tickets they have the right to get a passport. Think of it like getting an ID from the DMV. They CAN remove your license for driving related issues but if you had a warrant like the above person you still have a right to get a license unless they specifically take that right away.

Do we know she was using a passport? Could be just a DL and BC.

When the cruise line summits it final list of passingers, Homeland does a terror list check and during the process at some point a check for all outstanding warrants...............I guess in this case it took a few days and they got her getting off the ship.

I think its silly to spend all that police manpower and court time over $85.00, but it happened and should have been taken care of back in the day.

I beleive there were some issues awhile ago in that Canada will refuse people entry, even for traffic tickets. Some passinger heading to the Wonder missed their cruises.

In the OP's news video (link in Post #1), the reporter states that one better not have an outstanding unpaid traffic ticket.

My million dollar question is if they waited for her to get back at what point did they figure out she had a warrant? If it was after they sailed what's that say about DHS ability to prevent someone from boarding a ship who could do harm?(obviously not this person but in general. )

This!
Crime committed 22 years ago, passport valid for 10 yrs.
Exactly!

How embarrassing, especially for her innocent children. :(

This is exactly what I was thinking, I thought the purpose of cruise lines submitting the manifest was so Homeland Security could check it over before the ship sailed. Hopefully they just waited until the ship returned because she was NOT on the watch list.
