Main St. Candy store vs. Goofy's Candy Co.

Not sure we'll make it to Downtown Disney--which I'm pretty sure that's where Goofy's is, but it's the candy store I hear the most talk about. Is there very much difference in it and the candy store on Main St. (can't remember if it's beside the Main St. Bakery or a little further down)? Do they offer relatively the same things?

I'd say the reason Goofy's is discussed most often is due to the "make your own" treats. It was a great deal when you could use a snack credit for these without limitations. Now that there are limits on what you can get for a snack credit, the popularity of Goofy's is declining. I can't remember everything from both stores, but it seemed to me they had most of the same things, outside of the make your own treats which aren't at the MK store.

The make your own treats are extremely yummy, but I don't know that I'd go out of my way to get one.

Yes, quite a bit of a difference. In addition to having a larger selection of stuff, Goofy's has the counter to customize your treats/desserts - thinks like cookies, pretzels, rice crispie treats with all kinds of toppings just as you want.

The one on Main St is still decent - both the counter offering and the packaged stuff. But I think the Main St shop is kind of a junior shop compared to Goofy's now.

I haven't been there since the changes were made. I've only read about them here on the DIS boards. Apparently there has been a lot of inconsistencies about what is and isn't included. I can't remember all the details. Hopefully someone who has been there since the changes can post the details, or you might be able to find some of the information in the "confirmed snacks" sticky thread at the top of this forum. I scanned the first post to try to find the info for you and all I could find was that the "make your own" treats had been removed from the confirmed list due to all the inconsistencies.

I think Main St Confectionary has a pretty good selection. It is still enough to take up plenty of your time trying to decide what to get! Goofy's has a wider selection and as the previous poster noted, the make your own treats. It depends on what you want, but if you can't get to Goofy's then MSC is a pretty good second as far as alternative choices go.
