We're driving down to WDW from PA, which is a 16+ hour drive. We were thinking about mailing most of our luggage to and from the resort, like the bulk of our clothes & a few other things. Have any of you done this? Can you answer some questions?

Around how much did it cost? What would happen if the packages beat us down there?

Not sure why you would want to risk losing your clothes in the USPS system.

Is your trunk space too small? Maybe a better option would be to get a carrier for the roof of your car?

I did read a thread recently from someone who said that they almost always shipped most of their things to the resorts and carried with them only the basics in a carry on (they flew, I think). They put the arrival date and res number on the box and claimed it at check in. Maybe if you do a search you can find it.

I stayed at AKL last month for a trade show in Orlando and had our booth shipped via DHL directly to the resort. The front desk called me when it arrived and delivered it to my room without a problem.

Yes, our trunk is pretty small. We drive a Grand Am and I haven't been able to find any kind of roof rack for our car. Even just one of those small cloth carriers would help a lot!

Thanks, I'll try to do a search for that!

I was thinking of going with either DHL or UPS. We've been getting a lot of packages from DHL and they seem to be pretty reliable.

I wouldn't trust my luggage to UPS or USPS. I have had my cases lost long enough that they ended up refunding my shipping costs. Just don't send everything.

We always ship our boxes(luggage) prior to arriving at a WDW resort. Our luggage always arrives before us and guest services always have it ready for us to pick up when arriving. I only do this when flying so I don't have any checked baggage to pick up at the airport. I have had luggage lost too many times to count but have never had a problem with luggage sent.Whenever we buy souveneirs we also get them shipped free of charge back home. When flying with small ones it makes everything so much easier. I have shipped car seats, strollers, clothes, food items ahead of time and have never had a problem. HTHs :flower:

Who do you use? I've used FedEx (ground) on ski trips - they have been o.k. - I would love to find another option. Did you use UPS? Did you take your stuff to the UPS office - or do you have an business account w/ pick-up?
How expensive was it?
Thanks!

We've shipped a large box of "extra stuff" for several years. Warning on Snailmail bulk -- depends a bit on where you live. Anything east of Mississippi seems OK -- goes in a few days; west of that & it takes 10 days or more. Mark "hold-for-arrival" & your name on box (obviously address to WDW resort you'll be arriving at). We've shipped back from biz center at CR (no Snailmail service offered, only UPS/Fedex).

We have used both Fed Ex and UPS depending on which direction my dh was driving that day. Both are very good IMO. :flower:
