Magicians & Jugglers & a Clown Slide, OH MY! We're going to the BWI... A Nov 2010 PTR

Teri-- when I get my hair done- with highlights, cut and tip it is right around $200. Which is why it doesn't get done as much as it needs. But my hair is long so that makes a difference.
My old hairdresser- loved him, wish he hadn't moved-- called me Rapunzel b/c my hair was so long and it would take two bottles of solution stuff to highlight it with.
He was all too happy when I went to him and said "Cut it to my chin". It was off my head in about two seconds.:rotfl2: He wore a gunslingers belt around his waist with about a million pairs of scissors and I didn't even sit down-- he just grabbed it and wham. gone. He said he had to do it quick b/c I'd change my mind.:lmao:

$200???!!! :faint: I guess I should jump on that $100 deal!

My hair is pretty short, but it is thick (Please, Lord, let my DS take after my hair and not DH's :rotfl2:) and sometimes they charge me extra if they have to mix up more. Not always, but sometimes.

That must have been traumatic having your hair cut off so drastically! I guess when you decide to do it, you just have to go for it! Isn't it so inconsiderate for our hairdressers to move and leave us in a bind? Once we find someone we like, they should have to sign a contract or something saying they can't leave, don't you think? ;)

Wow, that was quick! I submited my info on the Big River Grille online site and my "welcome" email from them was in my inbox! I got the free appetizer offer, too! (Free food, YAY!)

Oh, and as far as highlighting goes, I am super lucky because I have been going to my girlfriend for over 15 years now (we met because she was dating my husband's best friend) and she not only does a fantastic job with my hair and both my kids' haircuts (my daughter has INSANELY thick, curly long hair), but I only pay $90 for cut and highlight plus tip (she pulls it thru the cap).

On another topic, my favorite t-shirt I got at Disney was a "peace, love, mickey" design - the symbols for each, not the words - with glitter (I'm not a big glitter fan, but it was subtle) on a light purple shirt. I bought it a size too big, but I LOVED it. Then I think a zipper got caught on it near the shoulder in the spin cycle of the wash, and tore a big hole. I tried sewing it, but it was too big.:sad2: So, what I have decided to try and do is to cut out the graphics and fuse them (using "stich witchery" which I love for hemming pants) onto another t-shirt. I even bought some silvery metallic fabric paint in case I need to outline the pieces. I hope it works!

Yep - that email from BRG comes right away!! Have you been there to eat before or will this be your first time there?

I hope you can get your shirt all worked out! :wizard:

WOW you ladies pay a lot for your highlights!! :scared1: I honestly don't know what they run here. Could be that high I guess. It's been a very long time since I worked in a beauty salon.

Thanks for the Squid Roe link JO. I didn't know what she was talking about either Shawna!

Teri -- Ideal Disney weather??? NOVEMBER FLORIDA WEATHER!!! :goodvibes It was seriously close to perfect last year. It was right around 78-80 each day (except one day, which was only 65) and sunny. :cloud9: We did have some very high winds at times because that tropical storm was coming by. So I could do without the winds for sure! :faint:

So anywhere from about 76-84 would be perfect. And lots of sunshine!! :yay:

That does sound like the perfect Disney weather! I am so funny about temps. I get cold very easily and I get hot very easily. So 76-84 would be ideal for me, too!

I hope you get a repeat of last year's weather, minus the winds! :wizard:

We eat at BRG just about every trip, since BWV is our home resort. Sometimes we just get takeout to eat by the pool (love the ceasar salad with grilled chicken!) but DH and I are both beer drinkers, so we like dining in, too!

Oh, and I just found another t-shirt for our trip! It is my one and only Boardwalk t-shirt (purple, my favorite color, in case you couldn't tell from my font choice). I'll let you know how my recreated t-shirt comes out. I may have to get a photobucket account so I can post pictures, because the mickey head tie-dye t-shirts we made last weekend came out GREAT!

Good morning PTR friends  I hope everyone is enjoying the nice weekend! It is supposed to be fairly nice here, for this time of year.

I'm happy to report no crazy Disney dreams last night! But, I did wake up at 6:15am (which is what time we get up for school during the week) and my mind started wondering and worrying and thinking about everything Disney!!! :faint: I think it's safe to say that I may not get another good night's sleep before the trip.

This morning I have been thinking about all of our fun Disney trips and thought I'd share some of my favorite memories with you. And hope that you will share yours as well!

Of course there are all the great memories of first times. Our first time at Disney was very special. The first time DS11 was tall enough to RNRC was pretty awesome! And the first time DS9 was tall enough for Soarin & TT was great, it meant we could all enjoy them together and they have become our favorite family rides!! :cloud9:

Celebrating DS9's 4th birthday at the Crystal Palace is a great memory and one none of us will ever forget.

Another fond memory of ours was one evening we spent on the Jamaica Beach at CBR. It was January 2009 and we had got back to the resort after watching Spectro & Wishes at MK (they are pretty early in January) and decided to head out to the beach to watch IllumiNations. The kids were running around playing on the playground and playing with the ducks and DH & I got to relax on the hammock and watch the fireworks. A very fun way to end the day!

DS11 finally conquering his fear of the TOT is a pretty funny memory. He has always wanted to ride it but doesn't care for scary things. Finally last November I bribed him with $5 to ride it and he loved it!! As we were dropping he was yelling -- "I can't believe I am getting paid for this!!" :rotfl:

And of course last November seeing the Osborne Lights! It was very crowded (the only crowds we ran into the whole week), but everyone was so nice and happy to be there. The atmosphere was so wonderful! We enjoyed seeing the lights and dancing to the music.

I have a similar one to your ToT story. On our honeymoon, I made the mistake of taking Logan on ToT before RnRC. He HATED ToT. Part of the problem was his seatbelt wouldn't stay buckled or something, so he was afraid he would fly out.
Well...we had FPs for RnRC, and he wanted nothing to do with it. He finally agreed to wait in line with me, but was grumpy the entire time. He rode it, and LOVED it. It's his favorite ride now.

Then there's when we went to 1900 Park Fare for dinner. One of the stepsisters asked me where I met my "Prince." I told her how Logan and I met watching for a tornado. She yelled at the top of her lungs "IN A TORNADO!" Everyone in the restaurant turned to look...

That's all I got right now...

YAY for finding another shirt! :yay:

I wish I had a similar experience with my DH and RNRC!! He rode it once with DS11 and didn't care for it. DS9 is now finally tall enough to ride it and says he is going to ride it, but we shall see about that. . . He also said he was going to ride EE when he hit 44" and never has. . .

Those step-sisters are 1900 PF are hilarious!! They asked where we were from and when we said PA they asked if we were from the part that makes chocolate or the part that steals!! Then DS11 (9 then) enjoyed a nice dance with one of them!

:lmao: I wonder if they have to pass comedy test. I know I wouldn't be able to come up with that kind of stuff so quickly.

Hey Drakes!! Remember me?!!! I wondered where you went!! I haven't seen you in a while!!!! Glad you are still around!!!!!! You should come over to the Snowbird board and chat for a while!!!

Hi Shawna, busy with "life" . I am a bad diser :(
Hoping to make it here more often

Shelley, All caught up on your report. I love all your tops, beautiful patterns and colours... but I do have to ask you, HOW do your feet not hurt in those shoes? My feet would be full of blisters after 30 minutes walking around the house in them, let alone a full day in the parks.

Dh and I were chatting this week about WDW trip (snowbirds Jan 2011) and we even priced out the cost. We are hesitant as we have alot of plans for our savings.

Reading your plans really makes me want to go... but I can't complain I went to WDW this year and DLR Paris this summer. But it has been 2 years for my mom and DH, so they are itchin!

I remember the crazy disney dreams, usually missing tickets, lost passport, or doing nothing all week. It's part of the experience, try to enjoy them as it looks like you are all planned and ready to go.

:)

I love your "favorite Disney" memories post. I remember when your oldest yelled "I can't believe I'm getting paid for this!". I actually told somebody about it the other day and they go so tickled.

I know, they are such good actresses!

The shoes  Actually I only where the real high uncomfortable ones if we are just going to dinner in the evening! I usually stick to my comfy flip flops during the day!

I hope you are able to make your Jan 2011 trip happen!! :wizard:
