Magicians & Jugglers & a Clown Slide, OH MY! We're going to the BWI... A Nov 2010 PTR

Getting lots of Disney stuff done this week!

Hair is highlighted.
Got some more packing done.
Made parking arrangements at the offsite parking lot we park at near the airport.
Signed up for Big River Grille emails, therefore received and printed a coupon for a free appetizer.
Received the MVMCP tix in the mail today - thanks Sheila!
And am now going to order the other 2 MVMCP tix!

No need for kennel arrangements this time. My mom and her significant other (hehe :rotfl: - that always sounds funny to me, but I can't call him her boyfriend, they are in their late 50's!) are coming to stay with the house and dog while we are gone. They have an apartment, so it will be a nice change of scenery for them!

I know I said it last year but I'll say it again...I LOVE that Mickey wreath!!!!

As far as Jo and her 'Naner dudes- I sure hope they are behaving for her today and there's no 'Naner shenanigans going on. Wouldn't want to see those fellers getting mixed up with the wrong crowd and find themselves sliced on a piece of bread alongside warm PB or something. :scared1:

I'll say it again, too. I love that Mickey wreath! And I don't blame Shelly for keeping it inside!

'Naner shenanigans......would it be easier to say shenanergans?

yay, souvenirs!!:goodvibes

that word always looks so weird to me. I always spell it wrong- but that's nothing new. There's a reason Drs and Nurses have horrific handwriting....:rolleyes1

I just love that shirt that you almost got last yr! I didn't see that on my May trip? I hope they still have it. I'm sure they do- I got the coffee mug with main Street USA on it with Walt and MM. The funny thing is that it says on the Bottom of the pic- "Magic Kingdom Walt Disney World" and it isn't--- it's Disneyland. Sleeping Beauty castle is at the end of Main Street and everything. Plus- Walt was never in the MK once it was finished. So IDK who did the mug- but it was wrong!:rotfl:

You got great stuff last trip! I do like to always have the sprinkles too. What is that red thingy that had MM's head on it? Is it for toast? That's neat!

how did you get your wreath home--? and good night-- the snowglobes?? you are an excellent packer!!! Everything I get always gets crushed.:rolleyes1 Yes, I do throw it all in the suitcase at the last minute. How'd you know???

I hate to leave so it just gets tossed in.

My kids love saving $$ too for vacation. Drew just cashed all of his money in for an I-Touch and now he says he's gonna save for the vacation next yr.

His goal is $500. He'll probably hit it too- the kid can pinch a penny till it stands up and slaps you.

I hope your boys get good stuff--- I bet you'll come home with Legos!!!:3dglasses

ps----- Sea-- Did you go inside Squid Roe? I saw things there that I wish I'd had a bottle of bleach for my brain.

The tab? :rolleyes1:rolleyes1 Let's just say it was a Going Away Party given to Mark by his coworkers from his old job.;)

What is it about the word souvenir? I always think I've mispelled it, too! (or is it misspelled?) And vacuum, that's another one. Is it 2 c's or 2 u's? :teacher:

I love all the souvenirs you bought, and the ones you didn't buy, too. ;) I think you should buy that cute top if you can find it this trip. ::yes::

It sounds like you are on top of everything! Aren't you famous for not procrastinating? I think I remember reading that somewhere. ;)

Maybe I need a trip planned to make me schedule a highlighting. I need it badly! They say you should do it every 6-8 weeks. I did mine at the beginning of May. :sad2: Oh.......I thought you said every 6-8 months! That'll be my excuse when I go back.

Oh, one more thing: Watch what you say about being in your 50's.....old people may be reading! :rotfl2:

Hey Shelly - I'm one of those missing readers!! I'm trying to keep up - but work's been INSANE!

Anywho - great souvenirs!! As you might remember, I have the same Mickey wreath. It is an inside wreath at my house!

You've gotten a lot done to get ready!! Woo hoo!!! You are getting so close!!

Shenanergans! :banana::rotfl2:

Yep, that's me -- famous for NOT procrastinating!! :hyper:

Funny, I always have trouble with the word vacuum too! :confused3

Don't feel bad, it's been about 6 months since I did my highlights too! And I do them myself (I used to be a hairstylist)! :upsidedow

Oh, one more thing: Watch what you say about being in your 50's.....old people may be reading! :rotfl2:

Now, I didn't say my mom was old. Just too old to use the term boyfriend!!

Old people may be reading :lmao::rotfl2:

Well hello there! Another long lost PTR reader!

I forgot you have that wreath too. Yep, it's best to keep it inside where we know it is safe and sound. ::yes::

Yes - we are so close!!! 15 DAYS tomorrow!! I can even start looking at the extended forecast! :cool1:

Oh, you are so lucky to be able to do your own hair! Do you do the paint-on kind or pull through the cap kind? I called today to make an appointment, but when I asked how much the highlights were, I was told they start at $100 or so. It was $105 or $115, I don't remember exactly. By the time I picked the phone up off the floor it was too late to ask them to repeat.

So my other alternative is the beauty school. I think I told you about my last experience there - 6 hours!

So there has to be something in the middle. I just don't know where or who to go to, which leaves me in the state I'm in now. ;)

$100+ :scared1:

Wow! I know it isn't cheap, but that seems really high.

I alternate. Sometimes I pull through the cap, other times I just paint it on. I just painted it on this time and didn't over-do it. Last time it was way too much.

I do remember your beauty school experience now that you mention it. :rotfl:

Isn't that crazy? And that didn't even include the cut. :faint:

I thought I was officially a beauty school dropout, because I vowed to never go back after that. But they say time heals all wounds, and the word 'cheap' heals too. So I think I'm going to give them another shot. This time I'm not getting my hair cut there. That took unbelievably long, too. Poor guy, I felt sorry for him. I may be crazy, but I'm also a penny-pincher!

Highlights>>>I get foil and it's around $70...depending on whos doing it...a really more upscale place around here starts at $120:scared1: and yes,...I said starts..you have to add in for a haircut to go with it,,,then if you add lowlights it's even more. I looooove my hairdresser!! She's awesome and doesn't charge an arm and a leg!!! Shelly...def NOT a procrastinator....I am usually not either...but our weather is reeeeeaally messing me up this year...it's gonna be nearly 90 again today:scared1: Geez...can we pleeeeeeaz get some fall here?
And I gooooootta know..JO, Sea...what is Squid Row?I have nooo clue!

Shawna, I wish I had a good hair stylist that I could stick with. I'd pay $75-$100 for highlights and a cut, but when it starts at $100+ for just the highlights, I think that's nuts! I'm sure there's someone out there who fits the bill, but finding them is another story. And you know us girls and our hair - we're very particular when it comes to that!

What part of Texas do you live in? We must be getting the same weather here in Louisiana (Baton Rouge). A couple of weeks ago we had a little teaser of fall, but we're back to near 90, too. :sad2: Plus, we need some rain here! My DH told me that the weather is supposed to be getting a lot cooler next week (low in 40's).

I'll ask both you and Shelly: What would your ideal weather be like in Disney?

Teri-- when I get my hair done- with highlights, cut and tip it is right around $200. Which is why it doesn't get done as much as it needs. But my hair is long so that makes a difference.
My old hairdresser- loved him, wish he hadn't moved-- called me Rapunzel b/c my hair was so long and it would take two bottles of solution stuff to highlight it with.
He was all too happy when I went to him and said "Cut it to my chin". It was off my head in about two seconds.:rotfl2: He wore a gunslingers belt around his waist with about a million pairs of scissors and I didn't even sit down-- he just grabbed it and wham. gone. He said he had to do it quick b/c I'd change my mind.:lmao:

Shelly- Hey I resemble that remark :rotfl2:

Somehow I missed reading your PTR yesterday and come on and find I am 3 pages behind, talk about being chatty

Happy to hear the tickets came I wondered how long it would take, you just never know with the Post Office (don't tell my DH I said that):rotfl:

I love the wreath, I know I saw it someplace just not sure where. When it comes to Disney ornaments I am sorta a nut, I am not sure how many I have but must be 100+ easy, I even have a Minnie angel tree topper whose wings flap and I have two 2ft Mickey and Minnie animated figures and and.........lol

Love the snowglobes, I get nervous bringing back anything breakable, so have never bought a snowglobe while down there but I have seen a few on ebay I have been tempted to buy.

You make mickey toast, I make or use to make mickey waffles, one year I did buy a mickey waffle maker.

Love that shirt too, and I have done the same thing so many times passed up buying something then regreted not buying it later. I do hate that they are doing away with the resort specific merchandize, I always bought a shirt from where ever we stayed , except for last year at OKW I meant to head back to the shop and forgot :sad2:

You sure are getting a lot done but then you have no choice tomorrow will be only 2 weeks :yay:

:cheer2::cheer2::banana: 15 DAYS!!! :banana::cheer2::cheer2:

And -- the crazy Disney dreams have officially begun. :upsidedow Very late this year. Usually they start a few month prior to the trip. Last night I dreamed that we got to the BWI and they put us on the first floor (which I don't want), the room was dark, old & woodsy/rustic, and the patio door opened to a dirty old pool. I was so mad. I woke in a cold sweat at 5:30am! :scared1: I was still upset even after I woke up and realized that it was only a dream!!!

:rotfl2:

Wonder what's next??? :confused3

:cool1: Congrats on 15 Days Shelly! :cool1:

Gee, I didn't remember that you had "crazy Disney dreams". That was a pretty nasty one. Dirty pool - yuck! Maybe you need to put on your Disney Parks music CD before you go to sleep and maybe you will have nicer dreams. :goodvibes

Thanks Sea! Good idea!

It's usually something like - we got there and forgot our luggage, or it is our last day and we didn't do anything the whole week, or I forgot to take pics all week. :confused3 It's crazy stuff!!

WOW you ladies pay a lot for your highlights!! :scared1: I honestly don't know what they run here. Could be that high I guess. It's been a very long time since I worked in a beauty salon.

Thanks for the Squid Roe link JO. I didn't know what she was talking about either Shawna!

Teri -- Ideal Disney weather??? NOVEMBER FLORIDA WEATHER!!! :goodvibes It was seriously close to perfect last year. It was right around 78-80 each day (except one day, which was only 65) and sunny. :cloud9: We did have some very high winds at times because that tropical storm was coming by. So I could do without the winds for sure! :faint:

So anywhere from about 76-84 would be perfect. And lots of sunshine!! :yay:

Old person reading :rotfl2:

Yep, the tickets got here safe and sound. :goodvibes And I was even home when the mail lady came!

Wow that's a lot of Disney ornaments! :santa:

Mickey waffles at home would be great! :cloud9:

I hate that they are doing away with the resort merchandise too. I hope they are still at least selling something with the resort name on it. Even a magnet would be good!
