Magicians & Jugglers & a Clown Slide, OH MY! We're going to the BWI... A Nov 2010 PTR

That Dole Whip looks heavenly! :cloud9:

Hope the adults are kinder when they toss out the cracker jacks at Casey's Corner this time. :sad2:

That pic of DS when he was 5 is absolutely adorable. Those chubby little baby face cheeks!

Oh yum, food.
:)

You guys are too thin to be eating all the time. popcorn:: Thank the Lord for high metabolism.:goodvibes

I have been to many on your list-- Excluding of course the buffets--:rolleyes1
Of course, we know how you and I are on restaurants. If you like it, I won't.:lmao:
Well, 'cept Big River Grille.:goodvibes

That's okay--- we're still buds.

What do you like to get at Sci Fi? When we went on our honeymoon, many many eons ago- I ordered this hot dog there called the Moondoggie.
I don't even like or eat hotdogs. WTH was I doing ordering a hotdog, much less one named a Moondoggie?
The worst part was that it was so large it was.... obscene.:rolleyes1
Way to start off a marriage.
:lmao::rotfl: Perhaps you were subconsciously expecting Gidget's costar to bring it to the table for you.
I know we haven't talked about airfare yet and are in the middle of a good food convo here, but did everyone see the news about the Southwest/AirTran "merger"? It seems to me it's less of a merger and more of Southwest swallowing AirTran. :sad2:

I got that email this morning and I'm not happy. I used to get great rates with SW from PIT to MCO. But not in the past several years. Ever since the other airlines started charging baggage fees, it seems that SW has jacked their rates so that they are able to say that they don't charge baggage fees. AT rates are much lower for us even after paying baggage fees, plus they offer better (and more) flight times. And as of right now SW and AT are the only ones that fly non-stop to MCO from here.

Well whatever you decide, you know my thoughts on driving. :scared1: If they keep raising prices I'll never get my way and convince DH to fly. :headache:

First I have to say that I love the picture of your DS4 with his cupcake! :lovestruc That is truly the face of an angel! :littleangel:

Of the places you have been to in MK, we have been to CP dinner and Cosmic Ray's. I think we may have been to Pecos Bill's a long time ago, but I couldn't tell you what we had or if we liked it. We liked CP, but I think today I might not want to return. I have become more leery of buffets in my old age!

I had read that Cosmic Ray's was a good value on the Dining Plan. Ribs for counter service? Sounds good to me! I don't even remember what I got, but it wasn't ribs. ;) I know my DH and DS had chicken and ribs and I'm sure they were pretty satisfied. I'm not much of a meat eater, definitely not a hot dog eater, and unless ribs are super tender I don't like eating meat off a bone. I should have stuck to salads and cheese fries!

I think next time we go, we'll eat a big breakfast each morning and then have a late lunch/early supper. I can always find something I love at breakfast!

I probably sound like a weird, finicky eater, but I'm really not! The one good thing about Louisiana is the food, and seafood is the thing I love the most! But we never seem to find our good local cooking when we're on vacation.

And I'm embarrassed to say I've never had a Dole Whip! That looks like something I would love!

:welcome:

Wow that's going to be an awesome and long trip for you!! :goodvibes Where are you staying?
I know but one only turns 30 on the 30th once! Plus we just celebrated our 5th wedding anniversary so we kinda rolled the trip we had assumed we would take for that in to this and Huzzah I get 2 weeks! We are staying at POP. We decided we would rather have DxDDP then a hotel upgrade (My DH's favorite part is eating in all the restaurants)

Hope the adults are kinder when they toss out the cracker jacks at Casey's Corner this time. :sad2:

Me too!

Thanks guys! :goodvibes I just love that picture too! That was our very first day in MK ever and his birthday. It was so awesome!

I don't know if Cosmic Ray's has ribs or not. :confused3 I don't really like ribs so I guess I didn't pay attention! All I remember is the crowded-ness (I know, not a word :rotfl:) of the place. :faint: And MK wasn't even crowded that night!

:scared1: You've never had a Dole Whip??? Well you better get one. And right away. ;)

Well that will be a nice double celebration for you guys! :goodvibes Two weeks at Disney sounds pretty wonderful to me. :cloud9:

I thought I was having another blonde moment there! Because I'm surely not the Disney food expert! ;) But I went to Allears.net to look at the menu, and there is a BBQ rib meal. But really, how good can counter service ribs be? There is one restaurant here where I will eat baby back ribs. But other than that, it's not worth the trouble and mess!

No, I've never had a Dole Whip. :guilty: I never even heard of them until the Dis! If only I could get one right away! :sad1:

Impressive list of places you have eaten, makes me want to sit down and try, I emphasis the word TRY to recall where all we have dined at in WDW

I am curious as to why you have Garden Grill on the never again List? It use to be one of our favorite places to eat but that was before they turned it into a charactor meal so I have wondered if the food is still as good as years ago. We tried to eat there last year but since we had no ADR there was nothing available on our epcot day, we had to eat at that food court downstairs at the land YUK!

WCC is on our list of never again , we dined there when we stayed at WL Breakfast and Dinner but it was just too loud for us, DH is not a big fan of trying to eat while kids parade around the room making noise :rotfl2:

You have to eat at Cindy's Castle ! I dragged my DS's and DH there for dinner and breakfast. Our first trip was dinner when DH tried to order a beer with his meal, We still laugh when we think about the waiter looking at DH all serious like saying " Sir, there is no beer in the Magic Kingdom" it was one of those priceless moments as was the pics of Cinderella kissing my DS's they were 9 and 20 that first year
It is different now from what I have read with a picture package and other princesses besides Cindy and they give girls a wand and boys a sword(Adults get them too, if you ask nice) Yes I considered making an ADR there and who knows if I happen upon a cancellation for the right time I still might, I have only checked a few times since it is sorta expensive.

Where the HECK have I been????? Did I even know about this PTR? Where's the smilie smacking it's head?

I have to go and read!!

I'LL BE BACK!!

/
Oh I did hear about the SW buyout of Trans Air, my first thought was they will be cutting flights and raising prices. I have never flown either we have so many options to choose from in this area but I feel your worry since those are the only airlines that servicie the Pittsburgh area

Looooove that picture of your baby!! Oh my word!!! Did you kiss those little cheeks every single day!!!???
Moondoggie---I too immediately thought of Gidget!!!! (oh Kim...are we twins?!!)..We have been to Tony's several times and it has always been great..but this time we are going to the Plaza for our TS dinner!!

I see that now! Hmm. . . yeah, I doubt they are very good. But then I wouldn't think that good ribs are very good. :rotfl: They are just too much work or something. :confused3

I wish you could get a dole whip right away too. :sad1:

Well, thank you! :goodvibes Actually you just made me think of one I forgot. :upsidedow Sunshine Seasons food court in the Land at Epcot. We didn't care for it much. :confused3 Most people love it.

Yes, WCC is VERY loud. And to top it off all of our food was gross.

We had the best time at the Garden Grill. The CM's were so nice, we were chosen as family of the day, the characters were great. But the food is definitely lacking there. Very dry and plain.

I would love to eat at CRT! :lovestruc But of course none of the boys are interested. I did make them go to 1900 PF one time and the kids really enjoyed the step-sisters!

Where the HECK have I been????? Did I even know about this PTR? Where's the smilie smacking it's head?

I have to go and read!!

I'LL BE BACK!!

I don't know where the heck you have been! I thought you forgot all about me. :sad1:

:lmao:

So glad you're here now! :cool1:

We have other choices here. But they are United and American and airlines like that, that are twice the price of Air Tran and have no non-stops flights to Orlando.

Thanks Shawna! :goodvibes Yes I did kiss those cheeks everyday! ::yes:: Still do! :rotfl:

We've never been to Tony's. :confused3 I've looked at the menu a few times and nothings really ever grabbed me. . . Will this be your first time at the Plaza? You are going to love it! Looking at the pics I posted of it today it kind of made me wish we were going there again. . .

Okay I'm all caught up. First - I could never forget about you - I just never seemed to notice that you had started a PTR. I'm glad it was just this month!!
All your DTD pictures are great - I spied a lot of items that I have purchased!!

I'll jump in on the cute boys bandwagon - They really have grown up - more older looking now than cute little boys. But your youngest just gets me with that smile!

FOOD - Yup, I'm all over that topic!
MK - we have had lunch at Plaza - and enjoyed it plenty. We tried to get Tony's once, and couldn't get in (Dec. 09), Love Crystal Palace. This last trip we went to Cindy's castle for breakfast! Just fabulous!!! A little different with girls vs. boys, but still fun and it's beautiful in there!
We like Columbia Harbour House for CS. Good sandwiches and it's nice and cool (go sit upstairs).
Never tried Pecos Bills (at least not in the last 3 trips).
Never tried Liberty Tree Tavern
Cosmic Rays - I totally agree with the different lines. Usually DH will go in and get a bunch of the same thing rather than splitting up. So I don't want to waste my credits in there if I can't go get what I want.
Casey's - I like the fries and cheese too! Kids like corn dog nuggets. I will eat one.
We have LOVED the Bakery!! Those breakfast rolls and pastries are HUGE. You could get two for a family of four. It was a great use of snack credits.

I am in the same boat with at least one picky eater, and when she turns 10 (in March) there will be no dining plan for us. We joke that we could do it and switch her meals with DD7's meals since DD7 will eat more "adult" foods.

I did want to comment on how great it is to stay at an Epcot resort. We were at BC and LOVED the location. There is lots to do there and easy access to two parks!
I think you should go explore AKL while you're at AK too. It's beautiful in a completely different way. Plus you could go to Mara and try zebra domes!
This trip we skipped AK but did go to AKL for dinner at Boma and we happy we did. Even picky eater DD loved it!
Epcot - passports are available at most of the gift shops. We bought them right inside the IG at that gift shop. This was a couple trips ago. They were not too expensive - for sure less than $20.

Okay - I'm going to sub this thread so I don't lose you.

Oh my, your PTR is impressive!:worship:

I'm all caught up now. I love BWI - you're making me second guess our choice of resorts, LOL! Ah well, we're working our way around the resorts, so we'll have to stay put and live vicariously through your TR;). We'll be there right at the same time!

Well, as far as airlines.Continental is the only one we ever mess with! plus,we have flyer miles with them!!! It's the only one that offers Non-Stop to Orlando for us..SW and all the others are at least one stop,,...and always more $$$---really weird.....so, we just stick with Cont.
I still kiss my kids a million times a day! LOL...the older one went thru the stage of 'eeeww..MOM!!' But, now he kisses me just as much as ever!! Loooove kids kissy cheeks!!!!! We did the Plaza before, but always for lunch...never dinner.....which reminds me-I need to go ahead and start looking thru all the menus just in case one of the kids rebel!!! LOL

I love talking about Disney food!!! YUMMMY!! I think you have some great choices for your upcoming trip!!

At first I was excited about AirTran being merged (or swallowed) by SW, but the more I think about it I'm not sure if the changes that will come is going to be worth it or not...time will tell!!

Glad you are all caught up Sheree! :goodvibes

Yes, the boys are looking more and more like young men than little boys anymore. Where does the time go???

I had thought about getting a salad or something from CHH when they boys eat at Casey's. . . I guess we'll see how the day is going and how inconvenient it would be to get food from 2 different places. . .

I've never been interested in Liberty Tree Tavern for some reason. :confused3 Probably because I know they kids would hate it!

I think that's exactly what we are going to do on our AK day - go to AKL and eat at Mara! Now tell me about these Zebra Domes. . . What exactly are they??? popcorn::

I noticed on your PTR that we have the same exact dates. I'm sure we will cross paths at some point!

I have never found anything even close to being good with Continental! I just looked now and the best they have is nearly $400 RT PP with a 5 1/2 hour layover. :faint: It's funny how some airlines are so good in one area of the country and not in others. . . :confused3

I love talking about Disney food!!! YUMMMY!! I think you have some great choices for your upcoming trip!!

Thanks Jen! Hopefully I will get to Epcot food today! :goodvibes

Yes, is will be interesting to see exactly what happens with the merger . .
.

Let's talk about Epcot dining!

Places we have eaten:
Garden Grill
Coral Reef
LeCellier
Boulangerie Patiserie
Electric Umbrella
Sunshine Seasons

(Sorry, some of these were back before I was a professional DISer and didn't take food pics! :scared1::rotfl:)

We did lunch at the Garden Grill once. We had an 11:00 ADR and were the first ones there and were chosen as the Family of the Day! Which entailed getting a free appetizer, having all the characters come to our table at once for a picture, and getting free Glow Cubes! The kids were thrilled. The characters we wonderful and it was neat how the restaurant slowly rotated. The downside – the food was pretty much awful. Very plain and dry and just not good. And we were in there for nearly an hour and a half. Service was VERY slow. It took forever! In the end they gave us 4 fastpasses good for any ride at Epcot good for that day. I never knew if that was for being the Family of the Day or if it was because service was so slow!

100_1562.jpg

We had dinner once a the Coral Reef. It was for our 9th anniversary. The food was pretty good and so was the service. We had a table down on the main level, but not right next to the tank. This was back when they did the diver signs (I don't think they do it anymore) and I had them hold up a Happy Anniversary sign for DH!

100_1623.jpg

We have had dinner at LeCellier 3 times. The first 2 times we loved it and everything was awesome! I especially love the campfire smores dessert! Each time I ordered the same meal – New York Strip Steak well done, with Yukon Gold Potatoes. Last year I ordered the same and we waited and waited for quite sometime. We heard people at the table next to us complaining about their meals, but figured they were just complainers because everything we had ever gotten from there had always been so good! Well, turns our that they probably had a justifiable complaint. When we finally got our meals my steak was rare. Remember I asked for it well done? I don't like to even see pink in my steak and this things was nearly still alive. It was gross. I am not one to send things back, but this had to go back. So I had to wait forever for our waiter to even come back to the table to see how things were. Then he took it back, came back out with it 10+ minutes later and it still was not close to being well done. We had been there forever and the kids were at the Kids Club and I wasn't waiting any longer. So I ate around the edges that were done and thought I at least had my potatoes. But, nope! :sad2: I bit into one of them and they weren't done either, they were hard. Needless to say it was a very bad experience and we are not in a hurry to get back there anytime soon. I am sure it was a fluke, but it turned me away from the place, for awhile anyway.

Boulangerie Patisserie is a little CS place in the back of France. We stopped there for lunch on our very first trip and were unimpressed. But we decided to give it another try in January 2009 and I'm glad we did, we loved it! DH and I had sandwiches and the kids had croissants. And the little pastries and desserts were very good too!

Electric Umbrella is your basic WDW fast food. The food is decent, but not great. We like how it is so big and open in there and we enjoyed sitting upstairs by the window looking out into Epcot while we ate.

Sunshine Seasons is a food court type place in the downstairs of the Land. We stopped in there once for a quick lunch. I didn't care for it at all. I remember there not being too many things there to choose from that would even eat. A little too funky for me I guess! And there was absolutely nothing for DS8 (he probably 5 when we were there). I think DH thought it was okay.

Last November after having breakfast at Kona Cafe and heading to Epcot afterwards, we were not quite ready to eat again around lunch time. Around 2-3:00 in the afternoon we started to get a little hungry, but still not hungry enough for a meal. So we stopped at the Fife and Drum Tavern snack stand near the American Adventure. We grabbed some quick snacks and really enjoyed them!

So that is our Epcot dining experience! Our dining plans for Epcot this time – We have an ADR at San Angel Inn. . . We had one last year too, but canceled. This is one of those places that gets so many mixed reviews that we decided not to chance it. But doing so has always left me wondering, so we are going to just do it this time!! Wish us luck! :wizard: I had thought about trying the new Italian restaurant, Via Napoli, but really just wanted to get pizza there and didn't know when and couldn't see making an ADR for pizza 6 months out. So I guess we will just get pizza on the BW if we want pizza! So SAI is our only ADR at Epcot. As for CS, we have no definite plans. Being so close and leaving 3-4 days open for Epcot I'm sure we will have at least 2 CS meals there. . . Any suggestions?

And I definitely plan to stop and get a Kaki Gori!! We always say we are going to but always forget. This time it will happen! :thumbsup2

I have no suggestions but am making a list from all of yours!

Never been to Boulangerie Patisserie but after seeing that table full of sweets it looks like a great place to spend some snack credits! :thumbsup2

:lmao: Little known fact about me...I was given the nickname Gidget by a guy friend in high school because I was the petite tomboyish one. Thankfully no one calls me that anymore. ;)

Ok now that you have made me very hungry looking at all the lucious food pics, I will have to go make something for lunch but first I had to post my comments.

I already mentioned about Garden Grill and there food was excellent before they were a charactor restaurant, sorry to hear they have gone down hill.

I have gone to Coral Reef twice, never sat near the tanks either, first time I loved the food the last time not so much but that was on my solo trip with a freind 5 years ago so maybe it was an off night.

Trying Le Cellier for the first time this year, I hope they are good DH has wanted to eat there for years and years , but I am not a steak person so we always went someplace else.

Tried Biergarten for the first time last year and can not wait to go there again this trip, you truely feel like you stepped right into a little Germany town , plus I love buffets , I am one who loves a bite of this and a bite of that plus there is free entertainment.

Can I say I detested eating in the Sunshine Seasons in the Land last year ? It was loud and crowded took forever to find a seat after standing in line forever and the food was just Yuk. We won't be going back there again or I should say I won't be.

Yorkshire County Fish Shop in UK is good as Is Rose and Crown but a lot cheaper.

We had pastries once from someplace in France might have been where you mentioned not sure but they were to die for.

I have a ressie for Via Napoli for the night Epcot is open till midnight since we are only doing 2 lunches then plan on grazing the F & W Festival the rest of the day I made a late ressie there 9:30pm.
I do have a ressie for R & C that I am holding onto for Illuminations for now Just in case the Illuminations Cruise thing falls through for some reason.

Have you looked at the Menus for the F & W Fest yet? I started a list of what I want to try not finished yet but have these so far.......

Argentina-nothing interests me
Australia-grilled lamb chop with roasted Potatoe salad and Lamingto(sponge cake with choc sauce)
