Hi all : )

We have a split stay coming up (6 nights WL / 1 night CS) with our last night at Coronado Springs. We've taken ME from MCO to the resort but never used it to return to MCO so I'm not sure how the reurn trip works. Does the resort provide us with a scheduled bus time to depart? If we're at the resort for just one night will this be a problem? I want to be aware of any potential issues so I can head them off.
I remember a thread that talked about a similiar situation (one night stay) but can't find it now. I remember something about the resort assigning the bus time 24 hours in advance...

Appreciate any info you all may think will be helpful!

Lisa

There are so many complaints on this board about return trips to MCO using ME I'd be weary of using it. But if you don't mind a bus being a few minutes late althoughh it still gets you to the AP on time to make your flight then you should be fine using ME :).

My split stay wasn't only one night at the second stop but I had no problem. WDW doesn't really recognize "split stays" - they see it as two separate stays. As such, I received two DME packages (one for the first stay and one for the second) and just didn't use half of each one.

The only trick I see for you is that the letter telling me when my bus was scheduled for was delivered the morning before departure day (i.e the morning you'd be checking into CSR). I suspect (though I have no proof) that you'd get this when you check in. If they don't offer one, I'd just ask the person checking you in.

Good tip - I'll make sure we're assigned a bus when we check in. I did give our flight info when I booked the room so they do have it on file.

Thanks for the replies!

I have used DME to the aiport over a dozen times and never had an issue :)

With a split say make sure you have the inbound info on your first reservation and the outbound on your second. When you check in to CSR they "should" already have your outbound information as it is scheduled 24 hours in advance. If not call the DME via the direct line on your wdw resort phone at some point the departure info will be delivered to your room. Your pick up will be approx 3 hours prior to your airline departure time.

With a splt stay - esp one night prior to departure - you do have to be a bit more proactive to be sure you have the info on the trip to the airport but we have never had any problems.

In all situations you need your Magical Express confirmation back to the airport by the morning of the day before the day you will ride the DME bus.

For a one night final portion of a split stay it might be necessary to report to the final resort on its check in day in the morning to fetch that paper and/or make last minute changes or corrections prior to heading off to the parks.

And make sure that the paper has the correct resort as the pickup point particularly if you succeeded in fetching it at the previous resort.

I wouldn't go as far as to waste park time to be sure your next resort has the correct DME paperwork. I just don't think that is necessary since the room won't be ready until at least 3 and WL will transfer any bags to CSR while the OP enjoys a last day in the parks. When the OP checks in at CSR simply ask the CM if they have the DME information, most of the time they will. If not a quick call will fix the error, the DME rep can give the OP all the informatoin they need for the next day's pick up and it is likely the paperwork will also be delivered in plenty of time.

I do this a lot...and have yet to have an issue. That's not to say that 'stuff' can't happen...it does. It's just not all that frequent.
The issue that you have is this....you will be checking into CSR the day before you depart from WDW. And this is the day that they would be leaving your departure notice in your room...but, your room may not be ready until mid-afternoon.
So....I would be sure to make my return trip to MCO, via DME, prior to getting to WDW. Then, when you checkin at CSR, be sure to ask if they show you as using DME the next day. You can be pretty sure that you will be given a pick up time of about 3 hrs prior to your flight time...so plan accordingly.

You may very well get two DME packets...one for your arrival to your first resort, and then a second one for CSR. As long as you get the one for CSR, you should be okay. It should have your departure info listed on it. THen, just double check when you checkin at CSR...just to be sure.

Thanks everyone!

I'll be proactive as advised and i'm sure we'll be ok ... i hope;)

I appreciate the replies

Lisa :)
