Magical Express Not-so-Magical at the GF, December 11th

yes, I'd never try to "get anything in return" due to this problem. We made our flight, no harm. We weren't impressed with how Magical Express handled it, but we didn't expect anything more than the taxi ride we did receive.

I do think we aren't willing to risk Disney without a car again, but that's just us.

ok, I did find our Magical Express paperwork. The bus was scheduled for 11:25, not 11:35am. we walked out of room just before 11. I guess a 5 minute walk or so? the bus pulled up about 5 minutes after we arrived and it was there for a good 10-15 minutes. I didn't notice any families other than our 3 trying to get on the bus and being told we couldn't. The bus arrived pretty darn full. The party that bumped us had maybe 8 -10 people? a lot. We were a party of 4. the other two parties had 2 people each, I believe. no other kids except our two.

so I guess the bus was a few minutes early? I'm not sure. but not by much, and there weren't other people waiting for an earlier bus, or they would have been there before us. Just the one very large family with a gazillion bags.

anyway the GF was good to us even if Magical Express didn't work out. I wasn't going to delay the bus and all passengers by arguing with the driver, I handled with the GF once the promised overflow bus was a no show.

glad I wasn't on a bus with a puking child. all those poor passengers.

That makes sense. I'm glad the GF people handled it properly - I'm sure it was stressful!

Something else interesting to note in the original poster who got this nice person booted from ME....they had thread started about departure morning reservations at O'Hana. Wonder IF they went there....and were late getting back??? Here is thread. Can't say that was it but just something to add to this sad case for this nice person who followed rules!

I think I know what the problem was. There was a thread a couple weeks ago about someone staying at the GF on Dec 11 who missed their bus because they didn't arrive early enough to check their luggage. They managed to get on the next bus and bumped someone else. I think we just found out who they bumped.

I have no idea how to put in a link but the thread title was something like "Magical Express did not get us home" (which wasn't true).

If, indeed, the OP of this thread was a "bumpee", then the OP should be grateful they weren't shoved on the bus with the late and puking family that posted on the other thread! :scared1:

WOW!....her kids didn't even get sick at Disney. They were sick before they went....this all goes back to the original posters who cause this person to miss ME.

http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?p=39318492#post39318492

So in a nutshell...that OP had sick kids before Disney. She didn't read her ME documents about checking bags early. She went to O'Hana before leaving on ME. Exposed everyone at Disney the week she was there to her kids illness...then blames everyone else for her issues. 'ME didn't get her home" when she was at fault, exposes plane passengers to her kids illness, and then blames Mickey for her kids getting sick. AMAZING!!! Sorry I am done with this now but that OP has lots of nerve posting and whining when a little searching shows exactly the steps that happened.

Mind you, it's been some time ago, but here's what happened to us:

We were almost an hour early checking in...I'd grabbed sandwiches at the ASMO food court and we decided to check in and sit outside and eat while waiting.

The bellmen took our luggage, pointed to the ME bay, and we went to sit at benches near it. Well, our scheduled time passed, no ME. We waited and waited. I had arranged a time over 3 hours prior to our flight, so I wasn't too stressed.

Eventually a bus marked "Disney Cruise Lines" pulled up in the circle...by the front door to movies. The driver got off and on. Finally, he got off again and yelled down the building at me, asking if we were waiting for ME.

I said yes, and he gestured to us to come. Then he berated me for not getting on the bus in a timely manner. Really? The bus wasn't marked ME, it didn't park in the ME bay, and nobody ever warned me...until then...that they can use ANY bus...ME, Disney Cruise, or even the Mears busses. And, they can park wherever they want. And they can show up whenever they want.

It didnt' make me very happy. Next time I can afford a trip I will be the annoying tourist who asks 7000 repetitious questions...because the written directions for using ME were completely useless!!!

Believe me, I *am* grateful. no way to know for certain if that other family from the disboards is the one who bumped us, as I have no idea what time her incident occurred.

We were bumped by a large party of 8-10 people who had all of their suitcases with them and were complaining about "lines". the GF handled it well, even though Magical Express didn't

and I am DARN glad I wasn't on the bus with a puking child. I have kids and know illness can sneak up, but this family seems to have known what they were exposing others to.

Whether this relates to that poster or not (and it just sounds too similar IMHO) I think you have a legitamite complaint to make to Mears and Disney. I am glad GF handled it well but the ME people should knpw what happen.

I remember that thread as well :rolleyes1, but We don't know for sure that she was the direct cause for this :tiptoe:

Oh, admit it. There's TOO much similarity for it to be another party!!!

Interesting that the OP that caused all the drama - NOT to be confused with dawnmommy! - ignored some excellent advice from her own breakfast reservation thread, about checking in for her flight before breakfast, and instead and despite having used Magical Express multiple times, misunderstood "be ready and waiting for the bus fifteen minutes before departure" (true) with "check your luggage fifteen minutes before..." :rotfl:

You know, this is the second thread in a week's time where someone hauls their vomiting child onto an ME bus.

Honestly, can't the driver keep people from boarding the bus when they are so sick? It seems we can't count on people to have common sense, so why can't Disney tell guests that if they are throwing up they need to find another way to get to the airport, if they don't have enough brains to stay put for a few days?:confused3

Put another plus in the towncar column.

This isn't a 2nd thread about that - it's a reference to the previous thread - it seems that the OP of this thread crossed paths with the OP of that other thread but didn't know it until people here pointed out the connection.

No, there is different poster who was staying at POR. She was mad when her room wasn't ready at check in, and the whole trip was downhill from there. Turns out she also had a sick kid before leaving home, and the little one even threw up on the bus to Chef Mickeys. But they still went to dinner.

I thought at first they were the same too, but I went and found the trip report again. Different families.

Can't. Magical Express has one obligation, to be there (or furnish a surrogate).

Adding to the sadness of leaving Disney, guests caught up in the bus and plane rush can feel like refugees*.

Hmmm. New idea. A rack with surgical face masks for ill persons to wear while on buses or on rides. I have seen such a rack at the door in some hospitals. Is there still a rack with air sickness bags at the boarding area in Mission Space?

* Who remembers (or is old enough to remember) those news clips where Vietnamese folks were swarming and climbing on the last departing U.S. war helicopters and army convoys in a desperate quest to flee their country and become illegal aliens in ours?

Have to ask...what the heck does the bolded part of your post have to do with anything?? Not even remotely Disney related.

Also....DME has no obligation to transport a guest(s) who have missed their assigned bus. The bus driver in question here, who took on a large family, with sick members, that had missed their bus due to their own lack of information/knowledge, is in the wrong. He should have boarded those who were assigned to his bus first. Then, if there was any remaining room, he could have boarded those who had missed their bus. A driver should never, ever bump a guest who is there, ontime, for a guest who has arrived late for their bus and missed it. Period.

Oh! Sorry - didn't think it was such an epidemic, but apparently you are right! I even contributed to that thread, but some days all the griping ones run together!

HA! I thought I was the only one that shook my head when I read that...... say what? lol

Seriously?

Alluding to possible, un-Disneylike, behavior that could happen at the DME platform when buses are overloaded, and one thread here on The DIS some months ago documents some behavior that came close.

Although adding levity was the main intent.

Because war memories always lighten things up.
