Hi I have been to Disney many times but it is the first staying on resort so a whole new experience! Just booked magical express but would you recommend collecting luggage first and then getting the coach or get it collected for us?
Opinions welcome x

Good question because it could take up to four hours for the luggage to meet us in our resort room and after 12 hours travelling it might be nice to have it earlier......

We always take it with us on the coach. It's no real hassle. It goes under the coach then if you need help ME always drops off near bell services at the resorts and they will get you to your room.

I do not want to be waiting four hours for my case - I will most likely be unpacked, had a snack and drink and be in bed by then!

It is also 4 hours for your resort check in not ME check in and being as we don't get the luggage tags to automatically route the bags I am guessing it would be on the upper end of that.

First time we used ME back in 2005 our luggage was delivered at 2.00 am, well when I say delivered I just ignored the knock on the door and picked it up in the morning. From memory I think we expected that as I packed night clothes in our hand luggage.

We used it this May and just took our luggage on the coach so we could unpack as soon as we got to our room.

I have never used ME but members of our party who we were meeting at the resort did. They waited for hours for their luggage and said they would always take their own luggage in future.

The last thing you want on travel day is a knock at your room door at 1am to deliver your bags.

We do the same. Always take it with us. I want to be able to shower, change and go out/go to bed when we want to on our arrival night, not sit around waiting for luggage. We have been delayed a few times on arrival and only got to the resort at 10 pm one night. We were tired and desperately in need of a shower. There was no way I would have wanted to wait up on the upper end of 4 hours for our toothbrushes and clean clothes. If we did an indirect overnight layover and arrived before noon, then I may rather opt for having ME deliver it, but as Tracy says, it's no hassle and I think you lose more time than you save on international flights getting ME to collect and deliver it

I've also seen luggage left unattended at the resorts waiting for Bell Services to stow it/deliver it and I'm not really comfortable with that

We took it with us :) it's little hassle and good to know where it is. It then got taken to our room as we checked in. All nice and easy!

Do you have to book ME? We normally have a car so we've not used this service before.
We've booked a complete package direct with WDW Travel Company this time and would like to use the ME service.
Thanks

If you've booked flight inclusive they have probably added it for you already - it will show on your invoice.

If not just give them a call and they will add it as it does need to be pre-booked.

Thank you everyone, I will collect my luggage before.
You don't need to book magical express if you have an inclusive package. My sister has done it all in with WDW and it was automatically booked as they have your flight details. We booked our flights seprerate so needed to book ours. X

Looked on my invoice and found this so I guess it's all booked. Thanks.

"Disney's Magical Express

Your free return transfers on Disney's Magical Express have been added to your booking. Detailed information about what to do and what to expect from this service will be sent together with your other travel documents before you travel. If you do not require free transfers you do not need to inform Disney. "

my children use magical express when they go to WDW without us (when we go, we always we rent a car)..
they always collect their luggage and take it with them to the bus....that way they have their luggage when they check in and don't have to wait for it to arrive later..

Sorry to high jack

Can you use ME if you have booked a holiday through Virgin holidays?

We have booked to have a car but only their standard car (included in holiday) DH is going to collect the car but not sure if it will be big enough for all of us plus bags and push chair so me and DD were going to get ME whilst DH drives back.

are you staying in a disney resort?

Yeah SSR x

then it seems to me you should be able to use ME...
is it indicated on your reservation?

if not, can you call and add it?

although, even without it on the reservation, one year my mom walked up to the ME desk in the airport and said she had reservations (in our room) at OKW..
there wasn't a problem, they put her right on the next bus to OKW..
and at OKW they drove her in a golf cart out to our room....very cool...
