I want everyone to know that I will arrange the total number of Candy Exchangers into groups that will be between 6-11, so do not worry if we have 30 people or more signing up. I'll have the information regarding cabin numbers and try to arrange groups by floors at least.

Hello Everyone!

We’re almost at the 7-month mark in the countdown to our cruise! Woohoo!! :cool1:

There’s been quite a bit of interest in signing up for the Fish Extender Exchange :) but so far only 2 cruisers have sent me their information and are officially signed up:
Shawnadb
Maple Det
and me, Deb T.

For anyone who may be new to Fish Extender Exchanges, here's my best explanation:

Beside every cabin door is a large silver fish:fish: with an indentation in the back (mail slot) for cruise personnel to leave information, invitations, etc. DISboarders have taken the silver fish one step further... by creating hanging pockets (much like cloth letter holders) to hang from the fish - thus the name, "Fish Extender". Fish Extenders (FEs) can be made of practically anything (cloth, plastic, paper gift bags, etc.), as long as they have at least one pocket that can hold surprises. A Google Image search of “fish extenders” will show dozens of unique styles!

Each "Cruise Meets" thread organizes their own little gift exchange. Some exchanges are set up with a lot of requirements, but I like to make it as easy and fun as possible. I always leave it up to the giver to decide what to give and when to pass it out during the cruise. Some people decide to give one surprise per family, some people like to give a little gift to each person in the cabin.

There are several DIS Boards threads that discuss ideas for FE gifts. Some gifts are from Dollar Stores, some are handmade, and some are bought in bulk from websites that sell trinkets like the Oriental Trading Company. Often, they are stickers, candy, glow sticks, lanyards, luggage tags, magnets, mugs, frames, etc., with themes such as pirates, beach, cruise, tropical, hometown, holiday, etc. The main idea is just to have fun finding little goodies in your FE throughout the cruise. Kids LOVE running back to their cabin to see if anything's been left in their FE. As an adult, I have to admit that I really love it, too!!!

I want everyone to feel comfortable with the number of cabins you’ll be exchanging with. I’ve participated in exchanges that had only 4 cabins participating on a 3-night cruise, all the way up to over 80 participating cabins on the longer cruises! Currently, it looks like there are 7 cruisers who want to join in on the fun and I expect that number will grow quite a bit! So, I’ll break the groups down to a choice of 10 in your FE group, 20 in your FE group, or “Sky’s the Limit” for those of us who believe the more the merrier!

The deadline to join this Fish Extender Exchange will be Saturday, April 15, 2017 to give everyone time to get their FE gifts prepared and packed. I will send all participants a Private Message (PM) through the DIS Boards on Sunday, April 16, with your FE group information. You'll need to print that final list of participants and pack it with your gifts so you'll know where to deliver them once you're on board the ship.

To join the FE Exchange, please send me (Deb T.) a “Private Message” with the following information:
*Your Cabin Number
*Names of everyone in your cabin
*Ages of children
*Any allergy considerations
*The size of the FE group you want to be in: “No more than 10,” “No more than 20,” or “Sky’s the Limit.”

To send me a “Private Message”:
Click on my name (Deb T.) in the little box on the top left
Click on “Start a Conversation”
Enter a “Conversation Title”
Under the row of icons, type your message
To send, Click “Start a Conversation” under your message

(FYI: If you are new to the DIS Boards, you will need to have made at least ten posts on DIS Forums before you can send a Private Message.)

Can't wait for our cruise!!!! :boat:

Great explanation of fish extenders, Deb! We participated in fish extenders on the WBPC this past May and are really looking forward to it again...and I may have convinced my sister-in-law to play along, too!

I just booked today, I am traveling solo. I did the EBTA in 2010 with my kids, did BTB with the Mediterranean. It was the best vacation I've ever had, I hope this one is just as magical.

:welcome:

On our 2010 EBTA, people on the DisBoards self organized a cabin tour. We got to see just about every type of cabin on the ship. Is anyone interested in that?
I was on the EBTA in 2010 also and did the cabin tour - it was great!

Hi, Tom and I are traveling home from a nice weekend in TN. We're enjoying some delicious dark chocolate almond clusters that I recently received in our DVC Member Cruise candy exchange.

We are first time Disney (yep, no WDW, not even Disney Land)
And we've never been on a cruise (except for 7 day Nile River Cruise for our honeymoon)...crossed-fingers that we don't get seasick, but I'm sure those Mickey Mouse Popsicles will cure us of any misery.

We haven't made it back to Europe since we had our little girl 3 yrs ago. I heard so many good things about DCL, and was drawn to the EBTA itinerary (Bonus: Only one long haul flight home with the little one). I'm especially excited about Amsterdam. I work for a Dutch company and spent 2 weeks there, fell in love with the city and super excited to show my husband the museums and cafes...not coffee shops ;)

We've invited my parents to come with us. They could not afford a Disney trip when I was growing up and they worked all their lives, so this is to thank them for being such awesome parents and awesome grandparents!

I'm counting down to our sail date, but its going to be a fun 7 months building up the excitement with my fellow travellers.

Oh and I just booked our flights Copenhagen to Toronto for 339 CDN (taxes in)...that's like practically FREE in USD with the current Exchane rate. It's with WOW (stopover in Iceland). Checked bags are another $70-90. We tend to pack light. The same flight was 659 CDN when I checked last week, so I jumped on it.

:welcome: To the Disboards and to this cruise meet!!

Wow, a Nile River Cruise for your honeymoon! That's certainly special, and then booking this trip as your introduction to Disney, Wow!

Bobbi:)

Thanks! Husband is a fan of antiquities, and I'm a fan of Agatha Christie (movies...not books). I'm still learning how to post/navigate the boards so pls correct me if I make any mistakes.

You are doing fine!
Read as much of the thread as you can and see if we're offering anything that's interesting to you, or give us a new idea!
I have been to Amsterdam once, a stop on a cruise. It was special going to the house where Anne Frank lived.
Bobbi

For those who've done transatlantics before, do you find reservations, excursions, spa, etc fill up as fast as some of the other popular itineraries? As first-timers, we'll be in the last group booking window. I won't necessarily be disappointed about Palo/Remy, but would be sad to be shut out of character breakfasts.

I will be on the cruise also together with my wife and friends from Florida. We live in the Netherlands in a town just 6 miles from the centre of Amsterdam. When there are any questions about the interesting spots in Amsterdam, I am happy to answer your questions the next months.
