Magical EBTA 2016

Hi Lynn,

We are so excited about this cruise. My DS and Bruce's DS will be joining us, to make it even more fun. Unfortunately, we will be flying in from Syracuse the morning of the cruise so no fun time at WDW this cruise. Our daughter's graduation is the day before the cruise departs. Hopefully all planes will connect, and we will make it.

Bobbi, we will be in Main dining on this cruise.

Looking forward to learning about each port and sailing with old friends and making new ones! :cool1:

Do you know when Disney will have the Port Excursion descriptions on the cruise site for review? They don't have anything right now to review. I like doing my planning way in advance so I can change my mind a few hundred times - otherwise I am going to have to assign this to Jennifer to review.
I tried to convince them to switch to early dining - sorry no such luck! You would have thought I asked them to give up food! for goodness sake - I think 2nd seating is too late anyway - but that does not seem to matter! I am trying to figure out what alcohol tasting to sign up for - Champagne for sure - maybe Choc (not sure on that one) and we are debating Mixology - Do you know what that one covers? Jennifer would like to do the Mojito one - I could take or leave that one - I would like the wine one - she could take or leave that one - so we will be going back and forth on these for a few days. We should just sign up for all of them and say the heck with it!
I hope you are doing well - Tell Tom I said HI! Your trip sounds WONDERFUL - Please let me know all about it! I love Vancouver - it is a beautiful city!
Lynn

You are planners extraordinaire! I waited until after the Member Cruise to plan this Hawaiian trip's excursions! I'm sure someone here will know more about mixology than I do.

I must be the only one who did not enjoy the chocolate tastings. All I could think of was the liquid tasted oily. Tom & I did wine tasting, did not like the choices, but Tom really liked the tequila tasting. He would do that again.

We are in Vancouver now, will do sightseeing tomorrow!

Lynn,
I have moved from second seating to main on board the ship. When you get onboard ask one of the people at the door where to go to request a change. We ended up in a short line in the Royal Palace restaurant, and they had no trouble moving us. Hope it works for you! :thumbsup2 Meg

P.S. I have already been online looking for excursions too. What can I say. It's an addiction. :confused3

Well, we have begun looking at air for our return to USA after our stay in Paris. Thanks to the Dis, we know Icelandic air has a comfort economy class and they allow an overnight stay in Reykjavik. We definitely want to do that, since it saves us the price of a cruise to Iceland!:)

Once we get home, we will know if our home base is Ohio or NJ, then we'll get the tickets.

Lynn, have you seen this thread about Champagne tasting? I'm interested, Tom is not.

Vancouver was beautiful yesterday!

image.jpg image.jpg image.jpg image.jpg

First the "growing roof" at the Convention Center. There's lots of growing roofs in Norway!
Then the lighthouse at Stanley Park.
We saw seals basking in the sun!
We ate at the Teahouse in Stanley Park. This was the view from the nearby point.

Getting ready for breakfast now, then heading to the cruise port!

Meg
The Main seating is not from Disney - it is my family - they don't want Main seating - only me! I would eat early - they won't! I wish they would as 8:30 seems to late for me! Oh well - I have to live with them so late dining for me! I just grab a slice of pizza late afternoon to hold me over! I just hate eating and then going to bed!

Bobbi
I am going to do the Champagne tasting - you should do it too - you can join me and Jennifer! I think it sounds like fun!
Vancouver is a beautiful city isn't it? I did enjoy it when we were there in 2013 - lovely pics you attached! Let me know how your trip goes! I hope you have a great time!

I may be flying Icelandic also as they have the best price so far. Fairly descent reviews too!
Lynn

Once we know for sure where we will be living, we will be buying air from Icelandic. We will learn more about the no charge for overnighting in Iceland!

Does anyone here have knowledge about going to see the WWII memorials? We have the book as I said before, and a tour company is mentioned that will meet people at the train from Paris, but I want to know if it is best to overnight near the sites. We would prefer to stay in Paris and do a 1 day trip from there.

Is anyone else planning to go to Disneyland Paris?

Yes, I will join the Champagne tasting.....I would really like that!

Bobbi

Bobbi,

How is your trip to Hawaii? I am dying to hear how it went. We were so tempted to go on that cruise!

Best Regards,

Meg

It has been wonderful! Some pictures...volcano as seen from helicopter. Nancy and Bill were on board!

We are also booked on this cruise and it will be our 4th with DCL. It will be myself, DH, DS 11, and my DMIL (her 2nd DCL cruise). We are looking forward to the sea days, and plan to fly home through Iceland also. We just finished a 7 night Eastern Carribean on the Fantasy and had a great time.

:wave2:Hi MissingFigment,

Welcome to our EBTA thread. I am so jealous of your trip on the Fantasy. I have always wanted to go, but the trips I've wanted to go on never resulted in the Fantasy. We're just getting organized, and everyone is researching ports. More to come soon.

Meg

Welcome! The Fantasy is the one ship I have not sailed yet! They are next on my hit list - of course after this upcoming BTB cruise I am under strict orders to Not book anything - so I will have some trouble getting that one booked! Must win lottery! That would smooth things over!

How is everyone's plans coming along? I have not had any chance to do any planning - I found out Fri my home mortgage was sold - well I looked up the Company and the company looked UGLY! So I am refinancing my mortgage. I really didn't want to - but the new Company had over 300 complaints in 2 months! Not one single good review! Just didn't sound like something I wanted to deal with! So I have been taking care of that and not my planning! Would much rather be doing the planning. I have work events the next two nights - so this week is shot. I really hope to wrap up my airfare this week-end. I would really like to get something booked..
Let me know how your plans are coming along. I also need to get going on my Fish Extender.

Bobbi
How was your Cruise? I can't wait to hear about it!!!!!!!

Lynn

Hi folks, I've lost a bit the connection - the email notification never seems to work :). :welcome:to all! I have updated the roll call.

The bad news are, we cancelled this cruise :guilty:. It would have been a pleasure to meet you all.
The good thing is, we booked the WBTA 2016 - it fit better in time, is cheaper and has the Azores as port of call.

We wish you a wonderful time on board. Bring the Magic safely to Europe :flower1:.

Sad to miss meeting you! I noticed the stop in the Azores, and it is a good one. Enjoy!

Howdy! How is everyone doing? Hope all is well! I booked my return airfare from London this week - I am flying WestJet - They are out of Canada. I was going to go with Icelandic - but WestJet had sale -so they won! Now I am Not going to look again as I don't want to know if any other carrier offers a flight lower than what I booked! I feel like I got a good price so I am happy!
So I was cleaning my house almost two weeks ago getting ready for the appraisal - as some of you know I am short- I was stretched across my kitchen counter to reach the corner to clean and felt and heard this pop - man did it hurt - and kept on hurting - well come to find out - I broke my ribs! How crazy is that? My Dr said that is a very common way to break your ribs - leaning across something - so word to the wise - DON'T DO IT - these darn things hurt like the devil - nonstop and they make doing everything painful - breathing , coughing, moving, sitting. sleeping - you name it - it is like someone took a hammer to my ribs! I won't do that again! That stupid corner can stay dirty!!! And I have to get another root canal done - Jeez - I feel like I am falling apart!! I hate when all this stupid stuff hits all at once.
Now for something different - I was outside last night and had a Fox in my yard - cute little guy with a big fluffy red tail! Something new to add to my list of critters seen in my yard! Just fyi - I don't live in the country - I live in a populated area..
I hope everyone is having a great Week-end - Let me know how your planning is coming along!
Lynn

Lynn, so sorry to read about your hurt. Hugs!

Cape May has bad winds and tidal flooding but we lucked out that the hurricane headed east, not to the east coast. Our huge tree has swayed in the wind, but it is still upright. One tree has fallen, that's down the block.

In suburban Dayton, we have seen a red fox. Here in Cape May, I have seen a skunk.

We loved the trip to Aulani so much that I am willing to forego a Member Cruise so we can get to Aulani again in January or February 2017.

Bobbi,

So glad you loved Aulani. I think it is one of the most beautiful hotels I have ever stayed in. Meg

Hey Bobbi
What is the word on your house? I sure hope it is good news! Horrible weather the east is getting - I sure hope they get a break soon! Just terrible seeing that on TV - I feel so sorry for them.
Not much going on here - I can't really do much - which is kind of nice - I bought some charms I have been sewing on my Fish Extender - so that is keeping me busy. Need to get back to my research on London. Have you booked your airfare? Are you going to Disneyland Paris?
