Disney Animation Studios Orlando is on the verge of being shut down (see http://jimhillmedia.com/main/index.htm, Jan 5).

If this in fact happens, the attraction "Magic of Disney Animation" will almost certainly close very quickly. OK so this is a relatively minor consequence of closing down a studio that has produced hits such as Mulan, Lilo & Stitch, and Brother Bear. But if you're there this week, be sure to visit this attraction.

Well seeing that they just revamped the Animation attraction, I don't really think that they will shut it down (the attraction I mean). I have heard good reviews and it sounds like it is now closer to the DCA animation attraction(which I loved).

I have heard that rummor, but I doubt they would close down the attraction since they just did a redo on it (a redo that, from what I heard, suspiciously does not emphesize the working studio nearly as much as the old one. Hmmm...). I think they'll probably keep what they have of it and maybe just do something with the old studio should it really close, maybe put a ride in there themed to animation or something.

We just went through this at Christmas and loved it. The preshow with Muzhu is great IMO! Also at the end of the tour you have the opportunity to go through the Animation Academy and take a 10 minute class. The first time DH went through it he drew Goofy. When we all went through it together we drew Mickey and had a different animator teaching us than DH had the first time. The class can accomodate up to 50 people. You each have your own paper, pencil and drawing board. You get to take your picture with you. It was really neat.

I went through the tour in early December and found it to be quite depressing!! Just seeing all of those EMPTY animators desks and unused equipment was enough to make my stomach churn!!

They have known about this layoff, that's why they changed the tour!! So that they wouldn't have to show you animators at work.

When we took the tour during Mousefest 2003, we were a large group. Unfortunately, there were a few "regular" guests along, so when the person working the attraction asked any questions, you could see us all looking at each other grimacing. There was so much we wanted to ask, but we agreed ahead of time to keep our mouths shut if there were regular guests.
