Magic Christmas Cruise 2010 (Dec 18th - 29th) - PART II

I have over a week to read through - I'm so behind! I thought you all would find this interesting:

Tune in to ABC’s Good Morning America tomorrow, Friday, Nov. 5, to see the world premiere of an actual rider on the AquaDuck, the industry’s first and only shipboard water coaster. Several brief Disney Dream segments are scheduled to appear during the program, beginning at 7:30 a.m. The reports will include live and taped segments from the ship at the Meyer Werft shipyard in Papenburg, Germany. Among the segments is a 90-second piece documenting the making of the Disney Dream, including interviews with leaders from Disney Cruise Line and Walt Disney Imagineering.

.

DVR will be set. I cannot wait to watch it after school tomorrow with a glass of iced tea. Fabulous way to start the weekend:-)

Just booked Country Inn and suites for the night before the cruise!:cool1:

Asked for a room on the 4th floor with a view of the ship and the 10am shuttle to port.
Anyone else staying here also?
What time is everyone planning on getting to the port?
I cannot wait to wake up and see the Magic, am considering setting an alarm to watch her dock.:goodvibes

I ordered our Magical Christmas cruise T shirts today from Cafe Press. On Tuesday I got an email from Groupon and it was 50%off of Cafe Press coupons, so it was just the perfect time! I've never used a Groupon before, but this was something I REALLY wanted!

I like Cafe Press because we could order whatever T shirt we wanted with the design on them......I got an aqua shirt, Chuck got one with blue sleeves, and I got Patrick a long sleeved blue one....Perfect
!:cheer2:

If only 12 splitters will that be enough? Will the 12 splitters only get 12 FE's? Nevermind. I TRUST... Just tell me what to do when.

See you ar CI&S. They told me I could not reserve a shuttle until I checked in in person. I'd like that 10AM shuttle, too :3dglasses

Ooooooooo, Tron - that's right! Just think we are saving about $30 each movie by seeing it on the cruise (for a fam of three, no snacks). A bargain!:lmao:

Hopefully Melissa has this already figured out and we are just talking in circles.:goodvibes

:lmao:Yes you are I had to quit reading all the many attempted explinations because it was messing with my head :rotfl:
A couple people hit on how I was gonna do it. This may be a bad idea but I will attempt to explain what I am doing. I am actually making 3 lists it's just as easy as 2 and will be more user friendly for the non-splitters. List one will be everyone. This will be used by those wanting to give to everyone. List 2 will have all of the non-splitting people plus half of those who want a split-list. List 3 will again have all the non-splitters and the remaining half of the splitters.
This will assure that everyone is recieving from the same # of people that they are giving to. Right now with only 12 "small fish list" people the split list will have on it 50 non-splitters and 6 splitters a piece for a total of 56 cabins. This is why I need to hear from those wishing to have a "small fish list" The more people wanting to split the smaller their list will be. Make sense? I will keep the option open thru the weekend due to earlier feedback of people only checking the boards on the weekend. So PLEASE speak up before Sunday night or you will be put on the non-splittling list. Everyone wants to get their projects finished/underway and I think that's a fair amount of time to get me your preference. Final lists available Monday asap.

Here are the people I have down for the small fish platter:rotfl2:

We are at CI&S too:thumbsup2. I thought we had to wait until checking in to get a shuttle time as well:confused3 Would love to get the 10am but I will just be happy to get to port whenever I can :woohoo:

Sorry to have misled you, we do have to wait to book on the 10am shuttle. The lady said it would be fine for the 10 am and we should just book on at check in.

We will see if this adds or subtracts from the confusion.
If we are operating under the assumption that gifts given should match gifts received, then the following description may help clarify.

Choice 1 (tinkmischief, 3 PrincessMommy, .. explanation)
Group A (People that don't want to split)
Group B (People that do want to split)

Divide Group B in half (Group B1 and Group B2)

Group A gives/receives gifts to/from Group A, B1, and B2
Group B1 gives/receives gifts to/from Group A and B1
Group B2 gives/receives gifts to/from Group A and B2

If we assume Group A is ~40 cabins and Group B is ~20 cabins (best guess based on current votes), then Group A will give and receive ~60 gifts. Group B will give and receive ~50 gifts. This decreases the count for Group B, but not by very much.

Choice 2 (Discruiser explanation
Group A (People that don't want to split)
Group B (People that do want to slit)

Group A gives/receives gifts to/from Group A and B
Group B ONLY gives/receives gifts to/from Group A

If we assume Group A is ~40 cabins and Group B is ~20 cabins (best guess based on current votes), then Group A will give and receive ~60 gifts. Group B will give and receive ~40 gifts. This decreases the count for Group B by a little bit more and probably makes more sense than Choice 1.

While my wife is going to say that I am talking like an engineer, hopefully this is a little bit easier for people to understand.

Given this scenario as an example, how many gifts will the 12 splitters be required to give?

:banana::cheer2::cool1:
I knew you would have it all figured out so I am going to sit back and wait for my list. Just kidding - let me know if you need any help with anything.

Now, I have another question. Are we just going to wait until the DIS meet on the 19th to see if there are any cabin corrections or will you have the lists posted outside your door? I know, I know, another thing to worry about.:upsidedow

I was planning on using Google documents so people could see & update real time once the lists are up and final. I will also have some available in my fish extender for anyone needing them :)

Tinkmischief,
I might swap to "big fish" if that won't cause any problems. I'm going to group my FE things tomorrow. I've got 30 or so homemade FE gifts but don't have time to make that many more due to drying, kiln firing, etc but I might have enough other things to fill out 30 more. I will let you know by deadline if it's okay to switch lists.
My eyes glaze over when I start reading explanations--too much like a math reading problem for me. So, I'll just do what you tell me. Do you need my stateroom number now?

You can remove ucancallmetink and ucancallmetinks grandparents from the small fishy list, too.

As best I can gather, the small fishy list has too few people to make it worthwhile. SO...we've decided to swim with the big fish...

Ok so I am going to stop trying to understand the FE.:rolleyes1
When its decided what will happen I am more than happy to go along with either decision.:goodvibes

Quick question
Does anyone have a good idea of how to keep the connecting doors open. We had connecting doors on the Baltic cruise and no matter what we tried we couldnt find anything to keep them open:confused3
Colette

To answer your question, I've never tried it, but read in many places on the DISboards that people have used elastic cords. The kind you use to tie stuff down in the bed of a truck. They said they just wrapped and tied them around the handles to keep them open.

Sounds great to me! Thanks again for doing all this!:flower3:

Time to take a break from the fishies! :lmao:

Any word on the Secret Santa trades? :confused3

We're going to the DTD shopping thing at 5am Saturday and I was hoping to get some things there for it. Are there any other adults signed up for it or just the kiddos? If it's just kiddos then we'll drop out- and I won't have to worry about getting anything for it on Saturday!

Just wondering?

5am... is there such a thing?!?

We just booked a few weeks ago and we're very excited! I tried to join the facebook group at least a week ago but I'm still awaiting an acceptance. What do I need to do? It will be me-Lisa, DH Vince, DS Nick (14) and DD Jillian (10)

Welcome Mrs. Nesbit!! Glad to have you aboard.

I do not want to weigh in too much on the fish extender math- but I worry that many are confused. Short list will be about 38 cabins and long list 60 cabins.

A few dropping out of the short list seem to think that there will only be 12 rooms. There are still more than 30 rooms- closer to 40 if I am doing the math right.:confused3
