Magic Bands 101

Does anyone know what the cost is to upgrade to the Magic bands from the Card? I tried to search this thread, but can't find the answer…so sorry if it was already answered. Also I'm staying off the resort, and just reading through this thread, its not available to us because of that, has that changed?

It is not yet available for off site guests, sorry.
 
Ok, good to know. I was excited to try them, but *shrug* We'll just use the cards. LOL Maybe for our next trip (if there is one)
 
I'm sure my question(s) had already been answered, but a search didn't bring it up.

1. When I started online check-in(didn't complete it yet) I noticed that my mom's last name had been changed to my married name. Will that cause issues once we're there?

2. I know I can link my credit card to my, and my dd's bands, but my mom will need her own credit card linked. I didn't see a way to do that online?
 

1). It shouldn't cause problems but with MDE you just never know :(

2). When you check-in, you can designate separate cards for different people. Some people have said it worked great and some have said not so much. YMMV.
 
We just had ours show up on our MDE so I put in for the customization. I have up till July to finalize or change any of the bands I wish to change. Our trip is in Aug/Sept and no they will not ship to Canada at this time sadly. I am quite interested in the possabilities for these for future trips I love fun new technology like this.
 
I have a question about split stays and the DDP. We will be staying 3 nights at BC and plan on getting the regular DDP, then we are moving over to VWL for 8 nights and have already purchased the DxDP for that part of the stay. How will this work with the MBs? Will all of the credits be on one MB since they technically interchange with each other or will we have to use the first set of bands for our regular DDP and then make sure we use the second set for the DxDP? Thank you to anyone who can help me with this.

Recommended to use 1st set with 1st reservation, since DP good through midnight of checkout day. It was confusion with starting new set, on checkin day (2nd reservation) & DP starting then, but you could still have credits left from 1st stay. So use 2nd set for 2nd reservation.

My thoughts, if credits already used by checkout of 1st reservation, then it wouldn't matter.

Hopefully, I'll find the thread or someone with this situation will reply since MB testing has been going on for awhile/linger since saw post over Christmas.

Thank you so much for the information, that is exactly what I was looking for. I was planning on using our first set of MBs for our first reservation and then after we check out of BC, not worry about them anymore. Then when we get to VWL, I would pull out those MBs and we would just use those for that duration of the stay. You are right, it would be confusing if I tried to use one set for both stays. Luckily we already customized our MBs for the different reservations...one reservation has one set of colors while the second reservation have different colors.

Received an email with tracking info, and it does not indicate that it has even been picked up, just that the info was received on Thursday; my last customization day was Wednesday. And there it sits:(.

Is this a concern? We may have to hit the parks first and then check in due to our FP reservation times, so I might not be able to pick them up when we get there. Should I be calling WDW to check on it? It seemed for awhile people where getting them within two days of closing. Not sure if it might be the SB crunch:confused3?

At this point, I wouldn't be concerned. Online shipping info sometimes takes a little bit to catch up with reality. For comparison, I got my Magic Bands shipping email the same day they were scheduled to arrive.
 
I have read most of these pages. My question is this. I will have 2 rooms on my reservations. Will the bands work on both rooms? Thanks.
 
My Magic Band shipment in January was via UPS.

My Magic Band shipments in September (3 different Resorts) and January were also UPS.

Mine reads US Main Parcel Post. My friend who is going with us just got hers today so I checked again and it is finally in MD, only about an hour away from us. They obviously didn't bother to scan at pick up or departure from wherever it originated from.

USPS is less expensive than UPS, isn't it? Maybe they are trying some cost savings measures, especially since they have to send out so many, and keep on sending duplicates to people with split stays.
 
Both our trip in December and the one next month they were shipped Via USPS.
