Magic band W/current hotel discount promotion

I have a packaged booked through an agent. I was told that because it already has some sort of discount (Family Magic, does that sound right?), that I cannot also get the special Christmas magic bands. This goes against what I was told on the phone by Disney the other day? Who is correct? My agent thought I should get it, now she is saying we can't without losing the discount we currently have...
