Mad As Rabbits: A Disneyland pre-trip report.

First of all :D You guys are going to be coming from a little bit north of where I am. It's nice to know we aren't the only ones making that drive (which I know we aren't, but hey - it's vindication).

For us the thought of where we were going to stay came down to how much extra mney we would like to save for fun things to do inside the park, and not just on the hotel. My last 3 trips have been at either GCH or DH, and for me with how little time I spent in the hotel, it wasn't really worth it. It was plust to be so cose to DTD and the park, but with how little sleep I get there anyways, getting up a little earlier to make a slightly longer trek is no problem by me. But you do have a point on the added evening hours spent in the hotel in the winter. I love pro-con lists, you could start one.

A pro con list sounds like a great idea. I think I will do that while I wait in line with my 14 year old daughter for the Jonas Brothers movie today. Yipee fun times ahead for me!:rotfl: :rotfl:

Kody!!!!! My name is Courtney and your mother has informed me that you are a Kevin Jonas fan! OMG, me TOO! (Except I'm 6 years older than you! Wooo!!)

Yay for Kevin!!! :lovestruc :lovestruc

I only saw them for the first time back in August at Warped Tour, but it was awesome. Would love to see them again. Dying to see Cobra Starship again.

Check out the Park Vue Inn - you can get connecting rooms so you get 4 queens and 2 full bathrooms. This will be especially helpful if your Mom does join you.

Park Vue is so close to the parks that it is no big deal to hang out in DTD for down time/evening time. Very close walk - just as close as Disneyland Hotel or Paradise Pier.

My family lives in Cottonwood and always drives straight through. They leave very early - 5 ish? - and arrive early afternoon. I think this would leave you better rested than driving all night and trying to check in somewhere at 4 or 5 a.m.

Go for the 5 day passes!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Cottonwood? Oh my gosh what a small world. When I was growing up I spent many summers in Red Bluff.:goodvibes I will check out Park Vue. Thank you.

I am sure that feels like forever ago to you. After all you are getting so aged of course.

it feels like it... Jason is 2 months old today.. well technically yesterday now that its after midnught

It's only about 8 hours so that's not as bad. The thing is we usually leave when Scotty gets off work and he is tired so I drive instead of him. But I am not as nice as I used to be. I got used to letting him drive when I wasn't able to drive. I was spoiled.

thought I'd throw in my 2 cents! We drive from Vallejo and here's how we do it. For me, making the drive early in the morning when I am fresh from sleep (even 6 hours) is WAY easier than doing it at night when I have just come off a full day of activity and packing!

SO... We pack the day before (Friday usually) and get the car packed, then I set the alarm for 4am. I get ready, get the kids up and hit the road by 500am. The kids get dressed but take their pillows/blankets in the car so they can finish their night of sleep. After a good infusion of caffeine, I am ready to go! With no traffic to deal with (except on the LA side), we usually do the drive in under seven hours, including stops. Now that has us going down 680 to 580 to I-5, which we discovered was almost a full hour shorter than taking the "shortcut" from Suisun through Rio Vista to Stockton! And if you figure you are 10 minute from me, that's probably the quickest way for you too!

We get to Anaheim early or mid afternoon, with enough time to hit the park if we choose, or to just 'chill' in downtown Disney or the pool.

Just thought I'd share! Happy planning!!
