Mad As Rabbits: A Disneyland pre-trip report.

I am trying to decide if we are getting four or five day park hoppers. We normally only do four days in the park and just leave in the morning to go hime but I am thinking about staying the day in the park before driving home. Different and fun.

Is the price difference like it is with WDW... just a few bucks to add the 5th day? If that is the case then go for the 5th day!! Even if you don't spend the whole day it would be worth it, imo. :thumbsup2

Yeah that was my thought. The price is like $5 a ticket. What normally concerns me is how tired I might be driving back. I figure this time I am not going to worry about it.

Now it is the time to decide where to stay. I know that it is months until we go but I want to lock in our room or rooms depending on where we stay. This is where Disboards comes in real handy. I think I have narrowed it down to either the Park Place Inn or the Carousel Inn. I would appreciate the opinion of anybody that has stayed at either one. I want to stay off property but I still want to be as close. Now I know a lot of people love Hojo's and I am considering them but the other two are my main choices. So I am kind of at a stand still. As wonderful as my husband is he just gives me the what ever you decide will be alright BS. So help!:rotfl:

Do you have a link or any pics of either hotel?

We would love to see:goodvibes

My main concern with going for the five is I usually don't want to drive home afterward. But my DH has actually started doing part of the driving too.

For the last few trips we have stopped on the way down to sleep. We stop and then I lay in bed and I cannot sleep. I usually fall asleep an hour before it is time to go so I am even more tired than I was to begin with. So, I think I am going to make our reservations for November 29 and let them know we are gonna be really late and drive all the way through. Does anybody have any thoughts on this?

I'm not the best one to give advice on this because we did about 19 hours straight in the car driving to WDW, then went to Magic Kingdom. We didn't stop to sleep overnight. Just a quick nap at a rest area (yeah, that's safe - But my husband was with us, so it was okay). It was a bit much, so we stopped at a hotel on the ride home. I'm definitely getting too old to do that. I always want to be rested when we get there from now on. I don't know how you're going to do that if you're "too excited to sleep" in a hotel. Just my 2 cents.

It's only about 8 hours so that's not as bad. The thing is we usually leave when Scotty gets off work and he is tired so I drive instead of him. But I am not as nice as I used to be. I got used to letting him drive when I wasn't able to drive. I was spoiled.

What time does he get off? Any chance of you getting a nap during the day?

He gets off at around 7:15, I tried that last trip and was somewhat successful but I got so sick on the trip down we had to stop anyway. I do know that if I decide to stop on the trip down we will not stay where we did last time. There were bugs in the girls bed, they found it in the morning when they got up. I honestly didn't know I think they may have told me but I was so freaking sick I wasn't aware of much.

Oh Lord! With bathroom breaks, and if you stop to eat, you might not get there until 4 or 5 a.m. I wouldn't chance it. You won't recover for at least a couple of days after a night with no sleep.

Oh thats with bathroom and eating breaks. And Michele just needs to walk around and stretch her leg breaks. You know what I mean?

Okay now that the family stress is over with I can get down to really planning this shindig! I really think that we could afford the DLH or PP if I really budgeted it. But you know I can save so much money by staying off-site. And also if we take my Mom the price goes way up at the resort. We go from five to six people. That is a huge difference in price at the resort. Now am I gonna be a nice daughter or......:scared1:

If there's that big of a price difference, I guess I'd have to ask myself how much time do I really plan on spending in the hotel? If its a shower & a bed, save your money by going across the street & use the money for something else. :upsidedow

I know. But my thought always goes back to the fact that the park closes so early in the begining of December. There will be the evening hours spent in the room. And if we stay on property we can hangout a little easier in DTD. There is always something going on there.

Oh that's true..... so make a list of positives for both & go for the one that has more ?? Not sure what to suggest here.... trying to help, but can't make that decision for what would be best for all of you...... :confused3 You'll figure it out & make it work!!
