Mac vs. PC Laptops

I just found a great article for Mac idiots like me, in regards to installing Parallels and running Windows. I'm downloading it and installing Windows on my computer today, so hopefully it'll work!

ETA: I just downloaded the software and noticed that this article was dated April '06. The software has obviously changed since it was written and is even easier to install.

I really do love mine. Right now I'm loading Windows onto the Mac and working on my husband's Dell XPS.

His is the top-of-the-line Dell, but I much refer my Mac. It didn't take me long to fall in love with it!

Which one did you order?

This is great!

Parallels is super easy to install. The only thing I had to do was insert my Windows CD and it did everything else.

Once XP was loaded, all I had to do was set up my network connection.

Right now I'm looking at IE running in a window to the left of my screen, and Safari running in a window to my right!

Piece of cake!

I'm noticing no slow-down of my computer either.

I guess I should consider myself lucky that we have a few Apple stores here in Houston. It was so nice to be able to walk in and order a computer and walk out less than 15 minutes later.

I think I've had hamburgers take longer than that!

I do need to order a carrying case for mine though. It being the 17", it's too big for my briefcase now. I want to go take a few Procare classes, but I don't want to walk through the mall carrying my laptop in my hands.

It only cost about 2,555 for the computer,case,office, and protection plan which really isn't bad.

Computer arrived here yesterday and I'm so digging it. I love the little remote for it.

AM_I_THERE_YET have you looked on apple's website for cases. I found a 17inch on there when I ordered mine and it's a slip and it's so nice.

I looked, but I haven't ordered one yet. And of course, I have my first Procare classes tomorrow afternoon. So, guess who will be schlepping it through the mall? Yep. Me.

Aren't you loving it? Mine has developed a squeaky space bar that is irritating me a little bit, but I'm sure there is a fix for that; I just need to bring it in. Other than that, I love it!

I have a question that maybe (hopefully) someone can answer for me, regarding storing photos.

When I hooked up my camera, it instantly sent my pictures to iPhoto. For the life of me, I can't figure out how to get them into a folder.

I need to be able to create folders for certain companies, and then put sub-folders under those, and store my pictures in those sub-folder, like how you could under the desktop on a PC.

I'm usually pretty good about figured out computers, but that has me a little stumped.

I need to get on Apple's site to see if they have any online tutorials.

You can make separate albums for each photo, however they are already in folders. If you go to your HD and then pictures, then iPhoto library they are all in photos under originals.

what I do with my work photos that I don't import to iPhoto is use a MY STUFF folder which I created on my desktop. I drag what ever I need into subfolders there.

It doesn't say, so I'm sure there isn't one - but does it have a handle on top? I like that, but it would nice to be able to carry it, hanging down too. YKWIM?

the one I have doesn't just it's case a sleeve really.

I am absolutely loving owning a Mac!

We had some issues with both of our computers (actually my Mac was the issue, but it was knocking our PC's down as well) being knocked off of the internet this week. Our signal was repeatedly lost.

It ended up being a compatibility issue with our Lynksis router. It's an issue that Lynksis is aware of, and apparently they've issued new firmware for it, but the problems are still plaguing Mac users.

Anyway, I had to call tech support to try to pinpoint the issue. Awesome guys! It was so nice to get such awesome tech support, and even better than that, I could understand them!

We went tonight and purchased the Airport Extreme router, and I called them so that they could walk me through the set-up, and again, a wonderful tech guy helped me. Everyone from the Apple Store, to tech support has been down-to-Earth and very knowledgeable.

I just wanted to say thanks to all who encouraged me to go with a Mac. I'm so glad I did. I'm a little poorer as a result, but hey... I'll go to the poor-house in style!

We had that problem since last week but we called the internet provider and it's not done it since Monday.

I love Apple, they go above and beyond call of duty. I had an issue with something with an Itunes and they were so nice about it.
