lunch vs. dinner at WCC

Currently on our arrival day in September I have two ADRs booked at different times at WCC, and will cancel one once I finalize my plans. I have a lunch ADR at 2:15pm which is shortly after we arrive. Once we finish, we can spend the rest of the afternoon/evening at MK and not have to watch the clock to make a dinner ADR. We would miss the 3pm parade. The second ADR I have is a 6:30 one. We'd have to leave MK after arriving later to begin with, and we'd miss the MSEP which I'd like to see. If we miss the MSEP that night, we are going to try to get back there to see it on our DHS day if we don't have to cut too much time out of DHS.

While I prefer the lunch ADR time, the lunch menu is much less and of course the skillet is not as good as the dinner one. My boyfriend LOVES BBQ and it's the only ADR on our whole trip that offers BBQ so I really wanted him to be able to get all his favorites in the dinner skillet.

So which would you do? Give up some good food for the sake of not having to rush around, or go with the food and alter the touring plans?

Personally I would skip any TS on the first evening, especially if you have park admission for your first day. What if your flights are delayed? The last thing you want to do is be rushing to a meal on your first day. Travel days always mess up eating schedules, so pack plenty of plane/park friendly snacks for your first day. I would personally drop bags at the hotel and head straight to the parks for Disney magic, then grab lunch and/or snacks in the parks when everyone is hungry. Since you would be eating in the parks you won't have to waste 2 plus hours going back to the hotel to eat and return for a dinner TS.

We always choose the lunch over the dinner time. It's just a personal preference as we also hate to leave the park in the evening.

My family always tries to plan a late TS dinner on our first night because it seems like a really nice way to start a trip. In your case, if your boyfriend really wants/likes BBQ and the dinner at WCC is the only chance he'll have and if you have another opportunity to go see MSEP later in the trip, I would go have dinner at WCC.

Alternatively, depending on when your going, you could try to see if you can get an earlier ADR for dinner (WCC typically opens for dinner around 5 pm). Dpending on when MSEP is, you might be able to have dinner and see the parade.
