Luggage??

If we take a rental car to the resort. Will our luggage make it to the resort? Do we need to check in with ME? DM is not registered as she is only traveling with us and being picked up at the resort. Thanks in advance.

Not sure that I understand your situation, but your luggage can't go on ME without someone traveling on the bus as well.

Magical Express is officially defined as not being a baggage only service, or in other words, if you don't take the bus, you are actually not a DME guest. Should you change your mind about using DME at the very last minute, go to the DME welcoming area to get instructions on what to do about your baggage.

Meanwhile, to speed delivery to the rooms, yellow tagged baggage removed from planes at Orlando Int'l Airport is whisked off to the resorts without matching up with guests beforehand. OT: If you are traveling to Orlando on non-Disney business and don't remove old DME tags, your baggage will likely be misdirected -- to Disney.

Worth noting but obscure due to its rarity is that Disney cannot cover baggage claims against the airline as might be made by non-DME guests at the resort.

Generally speaking, all issues relating to DME and luggage only need to go to that one thread.
I am making an exception here only because of the 'mother' issue. With DME luggage delivery, you may not see your luggage for up to 4 hrs after you checkin at the resort. So...if your mother is going to need those bags, at some point in the first 5 hrs or so, she may want to just get them herself, at baggage claim.

No biggie. There was a huge issue with threads regarding using DME for luggage only...and some got pretty heated. So, I decided to just put them all in one spot.
Just goes to show that the vast majority of people don't look at the stickies...
