We are returning to WDW in July. I made reservations for both the HOOP-DEE-DO MUSICAL REVIEW AND THE ALOHA DINNER SHOWS. We have been to hdd before, but would like some thoughts on the luau.

I enjoyed it when we went in September. If you drink enough beer you can certainly get your money's worth ;) ::yes::

Actully it was my first Luau and I loved the food, drinks and entertainment. It was a great atmosphere, and a great way to sample the Polynesian if you are not staying there.:D

We just went last night....I thought it was great although I had WAY too much to drink....

We did it for the fist time in October and really enjoyed it. Although we'd like to do it again on a future trip, it's not something we'll do each time we go. I think it's definitely something worth doing at least once. :)

We make reservations at the Luau every time we visit WDW. We're going again in June. My wife and I like it better than the Hoop-Dee-Doo, but that's just a matter of personal taste and opinion (btw - we're going to the Hoop-Dee-Doo also in June). We do like 'em both, but we like to save the Luau for last (very near the end of our vacation) since we like it better.

The only thing I feel that lets the Luau down is the price for kids. $24 each for 2 kids who eat a couple of fries is a bit steep, although I realise we are paying for entertainment, I still feel it is overpriced for the kids. As adults we felt that we got our monies worth from the $49 cost. Shame that the Disney Club closed as that gave a small discount.

We loved it alot, although it is something that we only need to experience occasionally. We like variety..:)

Ok please I would like nobody to flame me but.........we were disappointed in the Luau. We were just there January 29, 2004. The food was completely overpriced for the kids. I understand that is not all you are paying for but still, come on $24? I thought they would receive more than just a big lunchable. I know that they could have eaten what the adults ate, but how many kids would do that? My son said that the hotdog tasted funny as well as the cheese and macaroni. There were 7 kids and they all felt the same way so it wasn't that our son was being picky. For the adults: the bread was good, the salad awesome (loved the dressing) and the pineapple very good. The ribs were the best part of the rest of the meal, the chicken fair as well as the vegetables and rice. The dessert was just gross. Maybe it was just our waitress but she was never around to refill drinks. The other 3 adults were drinking beer and I was drinking coke. We would have to flag her down to refill anything and then it took forever to get her to come back. What is it that last call is before the show ends? For the price you are paying I think last call should have been right before the show ended. We were at the last show of the night and I understand everyone wants to clean up and get home. I think I received 2 cokes the whole time I sat there. I wish I could have just gone and refilled them myself. The entertainment was good and we enjoyed ourselves, BUT we will not be doing this in the very near future again that is for sure! Just my opinion. Good luck.

I was there a few years ago - thought the food was alright but not great. The entertainment was pretty good - but I don't think I'd go back anytime soon.

Loved the old luau. Dislike the new one. Food is the same (so-so), but the show is really bad. It reminds me of a bad ABC after-school special. Lame & overdone plot that really takes away from the dancing,.

i liked the luau. it was my first time going to the "new" luau and i thought it was a nice show and decent dinner for the money. the food wasn't as grandiose as if you went to a restaurant - since it was a set menu - but it wasn't bad either. the service was impeccable of course.

in the beginning i thought the "plotlines" and pop music-esque aspects of the show were a bit cheesy but i really enjoyed all the cultural dances and the interaction with the audience.

i went on my last night before leaving and it was a nice way to say goodbye.
i would do it again. although this year i would like to go to the hoop-de-doo revue since i've never been.

We did the Hoop de do and the luau last summer. I really didn't enjoy either show that much considering the cost. The luau food was mediocre and the show was your typical luau dances and songs. If you are really into Polynesian culture you might get more out of it than I did. After awhile the dances started all looking the same to me, except for the fire guy. He was really into his performance. Hoop de do had better food and service, and the show was supposed to be corny. But, for the money I can think of other Disney adventures to splurge on.
