Low Carb Diet

You people make we want to go back to lowcarbing. I felt so much better, had more energy, when I low carbed. Good job all of you who are sticking to it. The first week or two can be difficult.

I started this morning! :cheer2: Bacon and eggs for breakfast........

I checked out those S.B. wraps at the store the other day. There were lots of carbs in them......do you guys eat those after the initial 2 weeks?

I'd love to keep this thread going, helps to know others might be going through carb withdrawl too!!

And Dawn, I read you had a glass of win---when can I start having my wine again?? I know I'll miss my nightly glass of wine (or two :rolleyes1 )during these LONG two weeks.......

Yes, the wraps are after the first two weeks. The South Beach frozen dinners are marked as to which stage they are for, I am not sure if the other things are.

You'll be able to have wine after the first two weeks also I believe, the good thing is that wine is a lower carb than most alcohol.

after reading this thread a couple of days ago, I decided to try the low carb also! I did good the first day, and yesterday until about 10pm, I was so hungry and couldn't fall asleep, I ended up eating one of my DH doghnuts:sad2: Today is a new day, and I am back to trying it. I have to say it is hard. I want to loose 20lbs.
How long does it take before you start loosing weight if you are only eating 20 carbs a day?
Does meat like chicken, or steak have any carbs in them?

Stop and shop has a couple of kinds of low carb wraps and pita pockets. All are only 5 carbs. I'm SO thankful!

Has anyone who loves coffee tried the sugar free caramel vanilla Coffee-mate, YUM!!!

Has anyone tried Spagetti Sqash? It's so neat how it looks like real spaghetti. Then you make your own low carb spaghetti sauce and yum, you're eating Spaghetti. :goodvibes

I found a GREAT site with menus and recipes!

http://www.genaw.com/lowcarb/index.html

I made the Italian Casserole from this website last night and it was a huge hit! I am also going to try and make the Chicken Renee tonight.

Thanks for posting this site and thank you all for the support. I tend to fall off on the weekends but want to lose some weight for my upcoming wedding so I told DF that we cannot go off anymore.

I am starting with the 1st phase of SB again...I really do love it...its just that weekend = alcohol thing...2 weeks and then I can have a little...:thumbsup2

Have a great day all!

I do love it with just cheese and butter for some reason I can't do the sauce thing...is it really good? I guess I can make some and just try a little with the sauce...thanks for the suggestion!

My kids and I love spaghetti squash..dh isnt to thrilled though. I make meatballs using ground turkey and I make my own sauce. YUMMY!

The first two weeks I am strict with my carb intake. No flour at all of any kind. The main reason is to get into ketosis. Once this happens and I excercise daily...the lbs melt away.

BTW: I rode my bike around the neighborhood this morning. I rode 3 miles.....:woohoo:

Yes! I love the sugar free caramel vanilla Coffee Mate! I'm switching it up to hazelnut now (sugar free).

I really like the spaghetti squash. It tastes a lot like spaghetti to me. We have it every now and then. Now if I could get a low carb version of garlic bread we'd be set! :)

Oh my gosh they are so easy!

He uses 2 eggs per day so you just crack however many eggs into a bowl you want per omelet, add the ingredients you want to put in with the eggs. He uses cheese, honey ham sometimes, turkey bacon sometimes, peppers, onions and mushrooms. Whisk it all together and then add it to a ziploc sandwich bag...just the basic size for a sandwich.

Put a pot of water on the stove and get it boiling. Add the zipped baggies into the boiling water and boil them for 12 minutes. Take them out of the water and put them in the fridge.

When you want to eat one just take it out of the baggie and nuke it for 30 seconds or however hot you want it. He says they are really good because the different flavors all blend together while they sit in the fridge. I will take his word on it but he loves them as does my son.

We have done this for camping trips for the last 15 years for them and it's been great!

Hydster, question on the omelets. How long can you keep these for in the frig? I love this idea. :thumbsup2

DH keeps them in all week. He makes 5 at a time on Sunday afternoons. Eats one each morning at work. The recipe I read said they could be kept in the fridge for up to 7 days. So far so good for dh....6 weeks strong LOL

The Chicke Renee was great! It was easy too!

It was chicken, with a Tbs of chive cream cheese in the middle, rolled, and then bacon wrapped around. Yum! It was on one of the websites that was posted.

Have a great night all!

Finished up day one............I did fine, but I was hungry most of the day. I guess I never realized how much food I put in my mouth when I wasn't paying attention.........the boys didn't finish their chicken--I had to stop myself from stuffing it in my mouth, or DH didn't eat all his tater tots--had to throw them away instead of eating them. Quite an eye opening day.

So, I can snack on all the 0 carb meat I would like (like pepperoni, or turkey) and cheese? I nibbled on that all day........or do I need to control those two also.

Does anyone else use ketostix. I like to be sure that I am in the correct range. Today I had a low carb chicken wrap at Arby's, so it was nice to confirm that I was still in ketosis. Results between moderate and large.
