LOVED BLT - BCV was a bad experience

Instead of spending money on Dee Vee Cee, maybe they need a public service cartoon on the DVC channel in the rooms showing a good DVC member, versus a bad one. One that cleans up after themselves, does not allow marking of the furniture, jumping on the beds, etc. Use the Disney characters. :thumbsup2

Like those old cartoons Goofy used to do about driving. :rotfl2:

:idea:Good idea!! Know anyone you can pass that idea on to?

Can't you just hear Goofy when he slips on the mess he made in the kitchen?

Dee Vee Cee is paid for by DVD and she must have a high Q score or they wouldn't use her.

Damage to the units is paid for by DVC Members through higher dues so even though we love the idea of a good Goofy PSA, it will never happen.

Our last stay ay BCV was terrible. The first one was so dirty that they had to move us. Then in the 2nd room, we still had issues. Food left in the microwave, Fridge left unplugged therefore hot and filled with water from it defrosting, wet carpet, stains on floor. The carpeting in the hallway was stained and there was ripped wallpaper in the hallway. This was in Sept.
So very different from our stay a few months prior at the BWV.

I think a lot of the problems at BCV is that is has been the most popular DVC resort for so many years. Back when people could put requests to rent on the R/T Board, BCV was probably the most requested. So with near 100% occupancy, and, of course, we know no one ever stuffs a room (even five is too many in a one bedroom but DVC allows it), BCV just didn't get the loving care that some of the other resorts got. I'd venture a guess than BLT will soon start looking shabby because of all the requests it gets.

This thread is making me nervous about our June BCV stay. It will be our first time there and I have high hopes for it to be amazing. SSR would be a better use of our points because we could stay for 7 nights vs. 6 nights at BCV but my mom wants to stay there so bad. I hope she's not disapointed if the place seems dirty. I figure since it'll be so hot we'd make good use of SAB. Should I keep BCV???

I wouldn't worry!:goodvibes We have stayed at BCV several times and it is our absolute favorite resort! On our last trip this past October we didn't have enought points to have our whole week at BCV, so we spent the first 4 nights at BLT (studio) then moved over to BCV (studio) for the last 4 nights. Yes, BLT is new, on the monorail and close to Magic Kingdom, but that was about it for us. The Contemporary feels like the airport with all the escalators everywhere. Are the BCV's showing some ware... yes. Do the rooms need some TLC... some, yes. But the total atmosphere of the Beach/Yacht/Boardwalk area is fantastic! There are so many things to do there or nice places to sit and relax without stepping foot into a park. But if you wanted to go to the park, Epcot is RIGHT there! Literally a 5 minute walk. Hollywood Studios is just a boat ride or 15 minute walk. The Stormalong Bay pool is AWESOME!!! Our kids would be happy just going there most of the trip! LOL My mom has been joining us on our Disney trips the past few years and she refuses to stay anywhere else! I think if you go accepting ahead of time that your room isn't going to look brand new... because it isn't, then you will enjoy your stay so much more and what all the resort has to offer. The layout is great and we love that the Villas building is so close to the Marketplace to get a snack, coffee and refill mugs, etc. We seem to make a stop there 2-3 times a day for something or other.

We've just booked our next trip for December and we are staying 5 nights at BCV, then moving over to BWV for 3 nights. And the only reason we're doing that is because again we don't have enought points for our entire trip at BCV.

Enjoy your BCV stay! It will be great! :yay:

We've owned at BCV since shortly after they opened (pool hopped over there one day from OKW and bought after we got home from that trip:)), we have never had a bad experience. About the worst "experience" was early on when it wasn't uncommom for used room service trays to remain in the hall for quite some time, that was annoying and unappealing for an upscale hotel/timeshare, but that was about it.
Although I do tend to agree with the dirty hallway carpets complaint, but to be fair, I think the style/pattern lends itself to looking dirty and dingy even when its not.

Bill and I were just talking about booking BCV for the fall once we hit 7 months out. We like staying there because it is a really nice resort. Any problems we've had were resolved by the staff when we notified them.

I agree with you, Sammie. Accidents can happen, but how difficult is it to clean up a mess your family makes or at least call Housekeeping to get something to clean it up with? The people who allow their small children to write on the furniture or walls with crayons and pens are a puzzle to me, too.

Don't even get me started on what other people allow their children to do. I earn my living with other people's children everyday. It amazes me the lack of knowledge that parents have. I have to agree as well, that people that spill things and don't clean it up, are probably some of the first people to complain about problems. It's a sense of entitlement and lack of common courtesy. It drives me crazy.

However, hearing all the raves about BLT makes me happy about our pending purchase there :goodvibes

No one has noticed this yet?

When we called down to the desk to give feedback about the room...

When you *call*, you're NOT getting people actually AT the resort. You're getting a call center. :( When you have concerns about a room, you must *walk* to the front desk and talk to a person face to face, who can truly help with your situation.

I LOVE it!

I think that ALL timeshares should have information on what to do; do you load up all the dishes and run the dishwasher, or will housekeeping be doing that? etc etc. Heck, I think that people with homes big enough to have houseguests should have a binder with "rules of the house" written out. My mom and stepdad owned this timeshare/condo place in the Adirondacks; they bought it, they furnished it, and then when they weren't staying there, they let the on-site management people manage it as a timeshare sort of thing...and they definitely had a binder with rules in it!

One of the main problems with the hallways is guests who put their trash out thinking the CMs will get it, instead of them walking it to the trash rooms. I have seen many leaking bags of trash on carpeted hallways.

And that is the problem with allowing five in a villa that only sleeps four. Should never have been allowed.

I think that it's very unfortunate that it was MS that told the OP that it was allowed. I feel bad for the OP-she did the correct thing by asking DVC.

I'm so sorry you had a less than enjoyable time at BVC. But for one thing, you need to compare apples to apples. You went from a 2 bedroom newer resort to a 1 bedroom older resort. Tough to compare if you ask me. This being said, we are BCV owners and are very happy with our choice. In fact it is tough to sway my children to stay elsewhere. June 2010, we did a split stay between BWV and BCV. (Only because I booked late and couldnt get the entire time at BCV) BWV was OK. The fam NEVER wants to stay there again. Cant really pinpoint a reason.....they just all LOVE BCV. Even though the resorts are next to each other with virtually the same advantages. The youngest (21) said she would consider Animal Kingdom but only if it would be extra days on a BCV trip (Gotta laugh about the ideas they have when they aren't footing the bill) The past 7 years we have been squeezing 5 in a 1 BR. Last year and this year we went to a 2 BR. WOW It will be very hard to ever book anything less. I personally would like to try each resort once but it looks like I would have to go it alone.

Thanks for posting OP. I'm vaguely worried that I'll feel the same way since we're so spoiled by the newness and spaciousness of VGC that when we do our 2 bedroom at BLT being large and newer, to 1 bedroom at BWV that is older we'll feel the same way (not having multiple baths in a 1 bedroom? How will we ever survive?)

Just have to keep focusing on the reason BCV and BWV get chosen ... location, location, location. If we're disappointed in the room itself, it'll just force us to spend more time in the parks! ;)

Terapin - sorry, about your experience. I would not have thought that "calling" would not get the BC front desk.:confused3

When at WDW last summer, I left my phone at package pick up at HS. I realized it as soon as I got on the boat to EPCOT. CS at EPCOT called HS - no luck. BC front desk was very helpful and tried to help me - no luck. I walked back to HS and sure enough I got my phone back. Sometimes face to face really makes a difference.

FYI - The call center CMs are instructed to tell you that they are really the Front Desk when in reality they are in Tampa.

In December we had a TV that would not power up so we called Maintenance. A day went by without anyone showing up so I called the Front Desk. They acted like they were the real Front Desk and tried to transfer me to Maintenance. I asked for the CMs name and told her that I would be down to see her. She then confessed that she wasn't at WDW, she was at the call center.

I am nervous about these posts as well. Thank you, OP, for giving an honest review. We own with Wyndham and usually stay at Bonnet Creek. We were lucky enough to get a BCV 1 bedroom unit for this summer. I'm nervous from the reviews I've read on travel sites and Tug/RCI. Our flights changed and we had an opportunity to switch to BLT or Wilderness Lodge. We decided to stay at BCV because they have SAB and we have a four year-old and an one year-old. I hope we're making the right decisions.

I understand that BCV is almost always at capacity, but really it doesn't excuse having dirty accommodations.

Just to be clear we also had a 1BDRM at BLT at the same time (we traveled as 13 with a 2 bdrm and a 1 bdrm.

I'm glad we had the opportunity to try something different. It just didn't work out for us.
