Love Actually

I just finished watching this on HBO OnDemand and I LOVED IT!

I couldn't get DH to take me to see it when it came out, but I'm glad you posted this thread, and inspired me to turn it on!

I bought this movie for my Mom for her birthday - she called me up, kind of huffy and asked me why I gave her a "sex movie." :confused3

I had no idea what she was talking about - because I had never seen the movie, just the previews and it looked like something she would like - we both love frothy, sentimental, romantic pieces of fluff.

She informed me that there were hints of sexual encounters and she and my aunt had to turn the movie off when my Dad and uncle came in from hunting.:rotfl2:

Oh great - now I am a distributor of practically porn to my Mom.

I wasn't crazy about it the first time I saw but the next time it was awesome. Bought it and didn't realize it had deleted scenes....most go turn it on now!!

I love this movie. I caught it one night after it had started, but I still watched the whole thing. There are so many great scenes - like Hugh Grant dancing through the PM's house or when the guy shows up at the house with Christmas music and cue cards. Don't you want Laura Linney to jump up at the end and grab that cute guy?! I can't believe she let him walk away. I have the DVD, but I haven't watched it. Now I'll have to pull it out to check out the deleted scenes!

Another big fan here! I love the part where Keira Knightley realizes her DH's best friend is in love with her. It breaks my heart every time.

My favorite couple though is the Hugh Grant one, they are so cute together. I also love the guy that goes to WI. My favorite part is where he's right about to get on the plane and he makes his "announcement" :rotfl2:

The worst one though, IMO, is the Laura Linney story line. Her relationship with her brother is just ridiculous, and I can't stand how she refers to him as Darling. I could've done without them, for sure.

Yes, that was the one part of the movie that disappointed me. It was a little creepy, and I felt they could have tied up her storyline a little better. It almost seemed like they just forgot about her when the movie was ending.

It was OK, but only OK. It would have been great if they dropped the story of the girl with the mentally ill brother and the plot about the affair. Emma Thompson was great (as usual), but those plots had no place in this move. turned what could have been a great romantic comedy in a confused movie that couldn't decide if it was a comedy or a drama.

My DW and I love the movie. It was another Hugh Grant highlight after 'About a Boy'!!

I like the fact that not all turned out as they normally do in romantic comedies. It was more realistic IMO. If they had dropped Laura Linney's part and the plot about the affair with Emma Thompson's husband, it would have been 6 typical romantic comedies rolled into one movie. Still enjoyable, but without the slap in the face reality that those parts provided.

I guess it depends on what you like, I don't go to romantic comedys to get slapped (lol).

This is one of my favorite movies. My brother calls it " The greatest chick flick ever". If it is on I watch it. I own the DVD and I love the extra scenes.
