LOST SEASON 3 **Official** Discussion/Speculation Thread (No Spoilers)

Yep, I think it is Ben in the coffin as well.

I also think Kate was/is preggers. I think she was getting home to a son (maybe Sawyer too, but definitely a son). I think that was a big reason she decided to leave.

I don't think Jack's ex was pregnant with his baby....I don't think she was sleeping with him for awhile before they split up. They didn't ever see each other and she was having an affair.

My biggest "future" question is....what happened to Juliette? Maybe she didn't make it off the island, and that is why Jack is so distraught and wants to go back. It would also help to explain why Kate seemed so mad when he said, "We shouldn't have left" (well, that and that she would've died on the island due to pregnancy).

Well, those are my predictions, and those, plus $3.50 will get you a Starbucks!!!

I loved what Rose made Bernard say before she left him at the camp "I am a dentist not Rambo".:rotfl: :rotfl:

Great season finale!

Said a few pages back...

Of course there can't be a rescue or the whole thing would be over.

Hmm....care to rethink that? ;)

Just joining the thread...been a fan for three seasons and I'll be a fan for three seasons more for sure...

What an episode! So many questions now!

I think Ben is in the coffin.

They totally got me w/ the flashes.....I was thinking the whole time that they were flashbacks but then when Kate showed up....I was like....ohhh, you got me! But did anyone notice how weird she looked in the face...I guess they put makeup on her to make her look a little chunkier. I thought Jack looked a little chunkier too. Now that they can eat real food!

And Hurley...my man!!! YOU ROCK! I was laughing so hard when he busted through in the van. That was classic:rotfl:

Ok....what are your thoughts on Walt???? This whole "Jacob" thing confuses me :confused3

Great show and now we have to wait what seems like FOREVER!

Okay, I went grocery shopping and let it all stew for a bit and this is what I came up with:

What if the island allows you to correct your biggest regret? The dismissed purgatory idea was popular because so many of the characters are redeeming themselves on the island. So what if they were rescued to discover that the thing that they regretted the most never happened - a bit of an alternate universe. Ben said the box was a metaphor - whatever you wanted would appear. Jack's father wouldn't be dead because Jack wouldn't have made him lose his license. I'm not sure what would be Kate's biggest regret since she never seemed very upset about killing her stepfather, but she did have that guy who she was in love with and he died, so maybe she was going back to him. But when they return, they don't fit into the "better" world because they have changed so much while on the island.

Anyone care to shoot some holes through this theory?

Oh man what an episode! Hated to see Charlie die! I wish they could have saved him. Why won't Mikhail die? And what an ending! Had an idea it was in the future when I saw the cell phone, but wasn't sure...

I was a little surprised too when Jack asked for a ride and Sarah said now...I know he's your ex and all but she wouldn't give him a ride home from the hospital? Struck me as odd!

I think it was a GREAT season finale, one of the best episodes I think! I am HOOKED!

One question: when in the next three seasons do you think the "future" occured?

Also...whoever mentioned Walt not being around because he is bigger...for sure! That kid shot up!

After seeing a screenshot of the newspaper obituary it looks like the dead guy's name starts with a J... I'm thinking maybe Jacob.

I have a theory about Jacob.

I think Ben and Jacob are one and the same. Ben does all of the things Jacob wants to do, but can't. Jacob is the part of him that comes up with the ideas. Sort of the ultimate split personality.

Question is, did this personality develop on the island, or was it there previuosly? Was Ben/Jacob the reason the father ended up on the island in the first place? Was there something special about him that the Dharma Initiative was interested in studying?

Well, that's my Jacob theory for what it's worth.

You could be on to something....I actually think Kate would regret killing her stepfather because of her mom. and if you theory is true it would explain why she seemed to be living happily everafter off the island she is not being chased anymore.

I like this theory. The one I was thinking of was like that movie where a bunch of teens fate was to die, but someone saved them. Then one by one they die anyway. Wonder if there is a similar premise here. Ben told Jack that if he tries to rescue them, everyone on the island will die. So when they are rescued, and slowly one by one, the peopel he "rescued" are starting to die, he just loses it and has so much guilt.

The J names could be:
John
James
or
Julliet
Although I think Julliet's sister would be at the funeral. But John is another one who said not to leave the island. Kate would feel betrayed by him and not go to the funeral, but Jack would go because of the guilt thinking it is his fault.

I thought jacks dad was dead?
when his boss was asking him about drinking he said get my dad up here and if I am as drunk as him you can fire me

YES YES YES YES!!!! I was laying in bed "trying" to go to sleep after the finale and suddenly my eyes flew open. I remembered that part and couldn't figure out what the heck was going on. How was Christian alive again?? That is definitely the biggest mystery to me right now. Unless I misunderstood him, but I guess I am not the only one.

Wow!

Okay, first some questions (baby doesn't always keep quiet during the show) - What did Jack whisper right before he was going to jump and the accident occurred?

please forgive me - something like that...

And where did Mikhail think the Looking Glass girls were - on a submarine in Canada?
yep, in Canada

She'd leave the island if she were pregnant. She'd die if she stayed.
Sarah was never on the Island. They got divorced and she remarried before the plane crash

I was a little surprised too when Jack asked for a ride and Sarah said now...I know he's your ex and all but she wouldn't give him a ride home from the hospital? Struck me as odd!
I thought so too - I said to dh - if it's not appropriate to give him a ride home then why would she even bother going to the hospital? I know she said she's still his emergency contact - so? when they called she could have just said "thanks for letting me know but we've been divorced for 4 years" (or whatever)

Great episode last night!

I was thinking John was in the casket. If the obituary started with a J, I am now leaning more towards John. He really had no one in his life, although the same could be said for Sawyer and Ben.

I was also confused when Jack said to get his father down here to compare drunkenness. Is he alive or is Jack so totally out of it?

I do believe Ben that Naomi and her people are there to hurt them. I'm wondering if the next few seasons will take place on their boat, the Losties trying to now be rescued from there. Just a thought.

I loved that Hurley had a chance to be a hero, he was so excited for himself:)

I was totally shocked to see Walt and the original Walt at that.

What I don't understand about John is, why doesn't he just let the Losties leave? He can stay behind if he wants and be with the Others. He doesn't have to leave. Danielle already said she wasn't leaving and I can totally see that. She's been there 16 years, there's nothing for her in the real world. Speaking of Danielle, I was a little disappointed with the reunion. I would have liked Alex to have asked her some questions about how Ben got her, etc.

I'm just bummed at the fact that we have to wait until February to watch the show again:mad:

maybe a hint that this is an alternate universe? maybe he was so hopped up on drugs he forgot? maybe he's just saying his dad was always drunk and no one ever stopped him?

I think it was John also. The funeral director asked Jack if he was friend or family and Jack replied "neither". I don't think Kate would of had the reaction to Jack saying he thought she may be there if it had been Sawyer. Jack would not of cried over Ben's death.

I was also confused when Jack said to get his father down here to compare drunkenness. Is he alive or is Jack so totally out of it?

I think Jack was delusional. I am going to have to go back and see what the other Doctor said immediately after Jack said that, but yes, I can see how Jack would not be in his right mind.

I am thinking because Locke saw Walt, he is dead? Did Ben send Micheal and Walt into a trap, and they didn't make it out?

I think Locke does not want the Losties to leave the island for fear of the island being found. With the island being "secret" it cannot be harmed by the outside world. Once Jack made contact with the boat via the sat phone he alerted them to their coordinates. Locke and Ben both seem to want to keep the island as secretive as possible for whatever reason. They both seem to think the island is "special" and needs to be kept that way.

It did seem like the couple who found the father after the birth were exchanging weird glances. You may be on to something. Rodger was not the model employee IMO
