LOST news/discussion

Jeff - You're wearing long sleeves in the picture with Marcia? Don't tell me you're cold

What's really funny about the day they filmed the episode. There were about 30 production trucks, 100 crew members. They set up all day, filmed in the evening. And the scene lasted about 90 seconds on the screen. What a waste of time and money!!!

We will be touring more sights in the next few days, so stay tuned for more reports.

Yup, the wonderful world of film and TV production. I once did set decoration/dressing for a scene in a movie that was shown for all of 1 minute. A lot of the time involved is in the camera set up and lighting - they have to do test shots and then if those don't work out then other things have to be rearranged etc. Then once they get going, there are so many different takes that are done - it was really repetitive and boring. Well, to watch it all taking place anyway...

This was my Friday lunchtime walkabout around downtown Honolulu. Lots of filming locations in downtown, and very close to my office.

Old brewery building next to my work parking lot. Several interior scenes filmed here. Also Desmond going to the home of the former girlfriend of Daniel Faratay (she's in the hospital bed, and the mom or sister showed Desmond in).

Right next door to the brewery, is my friends condo building. Several interior scenes filmed here.

Merchant Street, has been depicted as London, Australia, and somewhere in the US. This street has even been covered with snow.
100_2093.jpg

Cole Academy Preschool, which is where Walt came out of down the steps, as Locke was sitting there looking for him. (I drive home past this every day). Locke sat in his wheelchair , waiting to see Walt exiting from school (but he was on another part of the block).
100_2094.jpg

Murphy's bar, where Locke met his father to discuss the kidney transplant (I think).
100_2096.jpg

Side of O'tooles bar, which was covered with snow when Bernard met his future wife Rose, when her car was stuck in the snow.
100_2098.jpg

O'tooles bar, scene with Desmond when he got whacked in the head with the cricket bat by the bartender.
100_2102.jpg

The antique shop that Desmond buys Penny's engagement ring, from Eloise Hawking (Daniel Faraday's mom).
100_2105.jpg

This was the travel agency that Locke went to looking for his trip to Australia for a walkabout. Same building as the antique shop (above).

First Hawaiian Bank in Chinatown. Kate robbed this bank.
100_2111.jpg

Fort St. Mall, was used to resemble London, and this stairwell was to the London underground train.
100_2115.jpg

Alakea St. where Kate met up with Jack, waiting for the attorney to drive out (attorney who Kate thought was trying to take away her "son").
100_2118.jpg

The driveway the attorney drove out of (across the street).
100_2117.jpg

St. Andrew's Priory, Desmond was a monk here, and also serves as Oxford University, where Daniel Faraday did his time travel research.

The restaurant in the Arts Museum, used as a restaurant in the show.
100_2136.jpg

The State Capital grounds, used as a scene where Sayid was playing soccer.
100_2137.jpg

Richards St. YWCA (they wouldn't let me take pictures inside ). Served as a hotel where Ben met Sayid. Also one of the asylum rooms that Hurley has group meetings in. And also a scene where Sayid was meeting his wife.

Aliiolani Hale, used for interior shots.

Marks Garage, used for scenes with Michael.

Nuuanu Cemetery, where Locke supposedly buried his father (who turned up alive on the island). Also, Locke's driver was killed here, and then John jumped into the front seat to race away. This is just around the corner from my daughters school.
100_2204.jpg

From the cemetery, the road Locke speed off on, Nuuanua Ave., which I drive home on every day.
100_2205.jpg

Several miles away, my old parking lot for work, is where Locke was in the car crash. They must have filmed that scene on a weekend or holiday, as there was no traffic. It's around the block from my office.
100_2170.jpg

This Japanese temple is next door to the Nuuanu Cemetery. It was used for some scene with Sun and either Jin, or her boyfriend (I can't remember which).
100_2209.jpg

My union hall was used in a scene when Kate went to meet her father, the Army recruiter. I was actually filmed walking outside when I was going downtown to lunch, but I ended up on the cutting room floor.

Thanks for sharing all the photos Jeff, AWESOME!

Tracy

We went out on a 13 hour, 140 mile ride around the island, and found many scene locations, props including the wheel that makes the island leap in time, Oceanic airplane wreckage, the survivor camp.

But the best part was finding a pair of locations being prepared for filming on Monday. We checked out the YMCA Camp Erdman, and Army Beach. Both had crew setting up locations. We talked to the crew, and they said go ahead, take pictures. So we did.

Camp Erdman is the "Others" village. Army Beach is where the original plane crash occured, and where some of "the Others" live.

Look through all the pictures we took, and you'll see a lot of LOST sites.

Enjoy!

Jeff - Did you go to the HM movie or see something else? Did you watch Lost on Wednesday? Did they film the opening scenes in Hawaii? I noticed there was lots of snow but when the actors were speaking, there was no steam/condensation coming out of their mouths. So I assumed they were somewhere warm.

Vicky,

Yes, the opening scenes of LOST were filmed here. They dump shaved ice on the ground at night, to make you think it's really snow. Shots were from downtown area, but made you think they were in Russia.

They were filming in various locations this week. Last episode or two to complete for the season, from what I hear from my sources.

It takes approximately 3 to 4 weeks from filming to airing on TV.

Wow, great pictures, Jeff! How cool. I love that Oceanic part of the plane. Thanks for sharing!! :)

4/1/09 episode.

Times supermarket Liliha (we shop there!) used for the scene where Kate loses Aaron. Must have been filmed really late at night (24 hours) because that market is always busy.

House where Kate visited Sawyer's old girlfriend (?), Mililani Mauka area where my wife teaches.

Jungle scenes, near Manoa Falls stream/trail.

Others village, YMCA Camp Erdman.

Very cool Jeff! I'm going to check this thread after every episode now. :teeth:

Uh oh, that means I have to pay attention more, and watch closely. I watched the last two episodes online, since I was on vacation.

Say it isn't so...but I do thank you for keeping us up on the happenings and filming sites! It's *almost* like being there, but without the gorgeous weather and beautiful ocean!

Maria :upsidedow

Maria,

You and Mojo, and Deb need to hurry up and get out here. Next season is the last season, so once they're done filming, all the filming locations with sets will be gone.

They're already done filming for this season. Ended about a month ago.

The Dharma station being built, was filmed at Paradise Park in Manoa Valley. Well the outdoor shots.

The cave shots where the worker was injured, were filmed at the sound stage behind Diamond Head Crater. Same for the inside of the "cabins" where Jack was staying, and where Sawyer and Juliette live.

Faraday's Oxford university, is St. Andrews Cathedral.

The meeting between Whidmore and Eloise Hawking (Faraday's parents!!! Holy Sh**) was my friend's condo building on King St. All that filming on location for what, 20 seconds? LOL.

Next week episode, will have the "other's" beach camp that Marcia and I goofed off at last month in March.

LOST Finale, pretty damn good if you ask me.

Local sightem's.

Hurley riding in the cab with Jacob. They picked him up outside of Oahu Correctional Center in Kalihi, across the street from the Honolulu Blood Bank. Real working prison!

The then drove down King Street through downtown, to McCully area. I recognized a Jack in the Box at one of their stops.

Where Sayid's wife was run over, is over on Auahi Street, right in front of the Bank of Hawaii ATM drive up window. About 5 blocks from my office.

I agree, thought it was great. A lot going on. Can't wait for next season!

Thanks Jeff!

This is Auahi St. near my office. Bank of Hawaii building in the background.

My truck is parked where Sayid and Nadia were standing, when she was looking for her missing sunglasses.

This is the street where Nadia got run over, and Jacob came to talk to Sayid.

We happened to be up on the North Shore, fishing and beach camping.

I found the short cut road to the LOST survivor beach. It's way farther from the other direction.

This is where Jin is usually fishing, or someone is doing laundry.

100_1028.jpg

Further down is where all the set's are for the outdoor camp sites. The orange fence is to keep out tresspassers (like me! LOL).

And this is a telephoto shot of Mr. Ecko's church that he was building with Charlie.
