OK, I'm rewatching and I just noticed something very strange. When Boone was talking on the radio he said "we're survivors of Oceanic flight 815" there's lots of background noise but I've played it back over and over again and DH and I agree the voice on the radio says "there were no survivors of Oceanic Flight 815". How would the person on the radio know this if they hadn't found wreckage?

Is that what they said? I couldn't hear it. And what a dumb thing to say. Wouldn't you think they'd be like, "Really? Where are you?"

Got this off MSNBC:

Seeing the light: In this Locke-centric episode, we learn that he didn't meet his parents until he was an adult, and that was only because his wealthy father (Emergency 51's Kevin Tighe!) needed a kidney. Dad befriends Locke until he agreed to give up the organ, and then afterwards forbids his guard from letting him inside the gates of his mansion. Back on the island, though, Locke has a creepy dream that items hidden in a crashed Beechcraft plane will help him break into the mysterious hatch. When Locke's legs start to give out (is his paralysis slowly returning?), Boone climbs inside the plane, finds heroin hidden in religious statues, and falls bloodily to the ground. There'll be much talk this week about whether Locke intentionally sacrificed Boone -- he'd seen him bloody in his dream, so it's possible he knew climbing into the plane was a doomed plan. His father sacrificed him, is he sacrificing the closest thing he has on the island to a son? Regardless, it becomes obvious that Locke believes the island is somehow talking to him, and at the episode's end, a light in the hidden hatch mysteriously pops on.

Up the down staircase: Many fans are picking Boone as the character who won't survive the season. He did nothing to disprove that this week, getting injured badly and lying near death at show's end. But even creepier was a shot of him in Locke's dream, covered with blood and mumbling "Teresa falls up the stairs, Teresa falls down the stairs." Turns out Teresa was his nanny, who died in a staircase fall when Boone was six. Creepy bloody dream aside, Boone did manage to announce the crashed flight's number into the Beechcraft's radio before it fell, but whether he'll be believed is another matter entirely. After all, it never worked on "Gilligan's Island."

It can't work. Then the series would be over. Same for Gilligan.

Only 2 parts of the plane are "known" to be on the island the front where the pilot was and the part where the survivors where - the tail end has not been found by the survivors so it possible that any rescuers may have found in the ocean and believe the rest of the plane is underwater - just a possible explanation for why the guy on the radio said there were no survivors. Or it could be the person on the radio is part of "the others" and he was "playing" with Boone ;)

Did Locke completely regain the use of his legs then? He managed to carry Boone all the way back so I assumed that he did.

By the way, poor Sawyer with his welded glasses. :)

Considering how quickly he disappeared after returning Boone to the caves -- I'd say yes he did regain use of his legs. LOL at Sawyer - at least he only has to wear them when he is reading ;)

And, I'm so bad, as soon as Boone found the Heroin, I told DH "Well, Charlie would be happy w/ that!" Shame, shame...

I said the EXACT same thing to DH!!!!! :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

I'm of the suspicious nature, but I think there was something to that radio transmission above and beyond someone finding pieces of the plane and declaring everyone dead. If I received a transmission from someone claiming to be a survivor of a plane crash, I don't think my immediate response would be "there were no survivors of Oceanic Flight 815." The response was immediate and definite which leads me to believe that statement was very significant to the plot of the show.
Also, they are supposed to be thousands of miles off course. I really don't think pieces of the wreckage have been found. I'm not arguing with you, just trying to expand my idea.

Good episode.

And for his next trick, Locke will sacrifice Charlie to the island by offering him hundreds of virgin marys filled with sacks of heroin. :rotfl:

I gasped when the light came on.

Sawyer's glasses are hilarious and so was the whole situation with him, Jack & Kate. Nice to see these three laughing together and not constantly gloomy as always.

I thought it was interesting that Boone immediately knew what it was. If I saw I white, powdery drug I'd probably think Cocaine first.

So, did anyone else think when Swoosie Kurtz was following Locke out it was because she liked him? :rotfl:

No problem, we just don't know if part of the wreckage was found or not so to say it wasn't found is not necessarily true. We have no clue as to what kind of rescue was attempted, etc cause well JJ is not covering anything but the Island ;) I agree that "there were no survivors.." wouldn't be my first response either but then again we don't know who was on the radio, could be rescue folks who have been out there for weeks looking and have decided there are none. Again, I also believe that it could be one of "the others." I think the significance to the plot is that Boone will mention the plane, the radio and the voice to Jack who will remember that Locke said "he fell off a cliff while we were hunting." Uh oh.

Ewww :rotfl: Not too becoming, even for Sawyer.
I prefer Daniel Dae Kim myself. Looks like no one else wants him, so he's all mine.

We should play a game: Caption This Photo:

Knows how many licks it takes to get to the center of a Tootsie Roll Pop!

PS Goodfairies: See my post earlier tonight: Even the funky glasses can't diminish his hotness. I also like Jin. He's right after Sawyer and Locke. Locke is totally hot.

I have been a huge Locke fan from day one...am so very sad to see this episode. I think what his father did to him is so low, and would leave you feeling emotionally stripped down to the soul. I mean to sacrifice your body part and then to be "not good enough" to enter his mansion? It was gut wrenching. But even worse for us fans, was Locke losing his legs! My God, that man has endured so much and seems so pure and good hearted and when he had no feeling in his legs and was falling in the jungle, I was crying. I hope Boone lives through it as well, but this show is getting freaky.

Loved the Jack, Kate, Sawyer thing this week. I laughed out loud.

I love this show :flower:

Locke is my favorite character as well. But I wonder, if Boone lives, will Locke lose the use of his legs again? It seemed like the island forced him to make that choice. In his dream he looks to one side and sees his wheelchair and on the other side is a bloody Boone. Boone might have been a sacrifice to the island. If Boone lives, then maybe that's where the heroin and Charlie come into play?
No good can come out of Locke's obsession with the hatch. It reminds me all too much of a book I've recently read. :sad2:
