Losing the weight and fighting the flab !

Congrats on the 52 lbs!!! Doesn't it feel AWESOME???

I am an exercise addict, too! Although 3Dis already knows that... I am down 56 lbs and have about 10 or so to go.

I have some flabby areas to get rid of too, mostly tummy and upper arms. That waist belt looks interesting.

I do cardio (arc or elliptical) 30-45 min 3-4 times a week, weight training twice a week, and play 1-2 hours of ice hockey twice a week. I would love to add a boxing or kickboxing class but my gym doesn't offer classes.

You know, Redheadhokie...7 miles is over halfway! And a half marathon is not something you just "try" I bet if you are starting with your exercising now, you will be ready to try again way before your 45th!

I'll be 45 next month ( ) and will be doing the Princess Half at Disney in March. That will be my first half marathon. Maybe I'll see you there....

Congradulations on 56 lbs! I bet you feel like a new person!
I have the same areas to work on and have 7 pounds until I reach goal. :cool1:
Doesn't it feel good to know you're so close? :yay:

I think that is so great you play hockey. That alone is a great workout.

Congratulations on 52 pounds!! WooHoo!!!! :cheer2:

I decided at midnight on July 1 that is was "Happy New Me" time! I have about 70-80 lbs I'd like to lose (and not find again... with any other friends!!) so I am trying WW Points and I have started an exercise program.

The journey of a thousand miles begins with the first step... but continues with the next 1000!!

I tried the Disney Half marathon in January. The DH, nephew, and niece all finished... I only made it 7 miles. Although this was great for me, I still felt so let down by myself that I didn't finish. I am 40 now... I would like to go back when I am 45 and do it... and finish it... again!!

Congradulations on taking the first step an d commiting yourself to a helthier lifestyle! :yay:

That's great you tried the marathon, 7 miles is better then nothing.
You know you'll be there when you're 45. :thumbsup2

I'm going on vacation on Saturday and already thinking how I'm going to get my excercising in each day. I bought a pedometer to make sure I get
a certain amount in each day. The hotel is hilly so I'll be walking around alot.

My DH suggested we might have to rent a truck so I can bring my treadmill. :rotfl:

Do you have a flex cord? Those are GREAT for resistance training and super light for travelling with. As good as weights and you can do SO MUCH with them!

:rotfl: you'll just have to do your walking on those hills ! It will be just like doing the treadmill with the inclines

I can't believe you got a pedometer to make sure you get your exercise in ! wow you go girl :yay:

How did everyone do over the fourth ? I am actually pretty happy, 4 parties in 3 days and I am actually still showing a one pound loss :woohoo:

I stuck to chicken breast, skipped the fattening salads and went for the veggie trays ! one party had BBQ ribs, omg that was tempting !! had it not been for the fact that I ate before that party, I would have been all over those

That's great you lost a pound and doing so well at the parties!:cool1:

I will be afraid to see that scale when I get home. I may be on the treadmill all day on Sunday. :rotfl:

OHHH! I love love love ribs. Unfortunately, there isn't really a dietary equivalent. I did find a dietary equivalent to chicken wings, though... Wal-mart brand Buffalo Wings are 180 cals in 5. :)

Love the pound loss. Awesome! It feels so good when you conquer a weekend that you have been looking at as a possible weight loss obstacle.

I didn't eat great over the weekend but so far I am down a lb as well, but my weigh-in is tomorrow and for some reason it never wants to cooperate.

I am about 10 lbs from goal... I want it to get here already!!

:rotfl: I bet you'll be fine ! you brought healthy food with you, that's more than I would do, I give you alot of credit !!

I'm going to have to check out those walmart buffalo wings, thanks for the tip !!

I'm jealous you're so close to your goal, I would really like to lose 20 more pounds, but I might be okay at 10-15, I just have to wait and see how I feel, it's just so slow going now, but I know it's better to lose slowly anyway

Good luck at your weigh in and hopefully we both lose quickly so we don't have to wait anymore :rotfl:

I am 10 lbs from my initial goal of 150, but I may try for 140 once I get there, we'll see. I am 5'8" so 150 may be just right for me... I don't really want to loose my curves, you know?

My two favorite things right now are those buffalo wings, and fat free spinach dip made w/ a knorr dry mix, fat free sour cream, and cooked frozen spinach. You can have 8 Tbsp for under 100 cals, and it is great with raw veggies and fat free pringles.

Joanne, I bought a tummy trimmer type product to wear while exercising. I did not have high hopes that it would work, but for about 8 bucks I figured I would give it a try.

Basically, it makes your tummy area sweat more. And, darn it if it doesn't work!

Mine is a Gold's Gym, but it looks a lot like this:

I found one of these at Meijers last night for $4.99 made by MTA Pro....I bought it and used it with my 3 mi. "walk away the weight" workout. You are right...it definantly made the waist area sweat more. Thanks for the tip....I need to spot tone in the middle and am hoping this helps!:thumbsup2

Where are you finding all these great substitutes ? or maybe I've just been thinking I can't eat stuff like that :confused3 spinach dip is one of my faves !

I tend to stick to certain foods that I like and that's it, I know my problem has always been not broadening my choices !

Wow another vote for that weight belt, I might have to try that too !

I have been living this way for 1.5 years now... and I want to live this way forever and never gain this weight back again. Therefore, I am trying to find ways to give into my cravings that aren't bad for me. There are some things that have no subsititute that works (like, say, beer!), so I save those for splurge nights. :)

For fat free spinach dip... I take a handful of frozen chopped spinach, cook it in the micro for a minute or so. I buy fat free sour cream (25 cals in 2 Tbsp), count out about 8 Tbsp, and mix it with the cooked spinach. I add in a squeeze of light mayo, the packet of spinach dip mix (Knorr works) to taste, and some onion salt. If you liked carrots (I don't!), you could probably add cooked julienned carrots to it too, for even more bulk w/ little calorie add. The whole thing comes to about 100 cals.

What I tend to do is cut up celery, raw cauliflower, cucumber, mushrooms, and make a big plate of it to dip, and then count out 1 serving of ff pringles for my "treat".

I cook a lot with cooking spray, and subsititute fat free products like fat free promise, fat free sour cream... although I haven't found many fat free salad dressings that I like, so I eat it on the calories and go with "light". The Kraft Three Cheese Light Ranch is currently my fav... add a Tbsp or so of reduced fat blue cheese and yummy.

And I am a compulsive label watcher... you would be surprised, sometimes the non-light versions of things really aren't that bad. Like Walmart has mini-cheeseburgers, 230 cals in 2 of them. Or 96/4 lean ground beef, which is 140 cals in 4 oz... 280 + 100 cals in a light hamburger bun makes a huge, GREAT hamburger, and it tastes way better than the turkey stuff imo.

Anyhow, enough of my food rant for today! Off to look more at that weight belt thingy...

Kat, the dip sounds so good! :yay:
I'm a long time label reader myself. First it was just calories, know it's the carbs and other factors.

All that walking helped because I ndidn't gain any weight!!
I ate in proportion to what I wanted and went back to basics- beer. Except now it's light beer. :)

wow good for you !!! I usually just give in to my cravings :rotfl: either way we have both been successful ! I really do like how you try to make lighter versions of your favorites, I think that's awesome :thumbsup2 I know I will be making that spinach dip next weekend

Oh and as for beer, my favorite has always been Michelob Ultra and you know I won't usually drink any other kind :rotfl: well the other day I tried a Miller 64 and wow those are good too ! and only 64 calories per bottle, I drank those the other night and didn't miss my Ultra too much

Joanne, did your waist trimmer belt arrive while you were away?

I have tried the Mich Ultra and such. I just keep thinking someone has put water in my beer.... I like Sam Adams Light. I will have to check calories and such on that.

My niece drinks Sam Adams Light, I don't think it's too bad on calories.... I know most guys don't like beer like Ultra & MGD 64, but you're the first girl I know that doesn't like them ! are you a hard core drunk and that's your dirty little secret :confused3 :rotfl:

I am not a fan of Ultra either... maybe I am a closet drunk/guy too! I haven't tried Miller 64.

I do like Mich Ultra Amber, though, but it is a sneaky beer. It must have WAY more alcohol than a regular lite beer because 2 or 3 and it hammers me over the head.

I don't like Heineken or Beck's lights... they taste like beer-flavored selzer water.

Miller lite, Natural Light, Bud Select, are all okay I guess, but I would rather have a "real" beer and skimp the calories somewhere else.
