Losing the weight and fighting the flab !

I am not a fan of Ultra either... maybe I am a closet drunk/guy too! I haven't tried Miller 64.

I do like Mich Ultra Amber, though, but it is a sneaky beer. It must have WAY more alcohol than a regular lite beer because 2 or 3 and it hammers me over the head.

I don't like Heineken or Beck's lights... they taste like beer-flavored selzer water.

Miller lite, Natural Light, Bud Select, are all okay I guess, but I would rather have a "real" beer and skimp the calories somewhere else.

I tried the Amber but I didn't like it as much as Ultra

Well shoot now I feel like maybe i'm the wimp since I like the watery not-to-much-beerish taste beer :rotfl2:

Can I watch you get hammered over the head

Here's the website I used for the beers and their info.

Thanks for that link Joanne ! I see my Ultra is one of the lowest in the amount of alcohol, I can see why I can drink so much of it :rolleyes1

HAHA!! I told my husband that any youtube of this would result in door locks being changed...

Joanne, did your waist trimmer belt arrive while you were away?

I have tried the Mich Ultra and such. I just keep thinking someone has put water in my beer.... I like Sam Adams Light. I will have to check calories and such on that.

Yes, I did get it and used it Monday night, it felt good. Do you use it all the time?

I am curious to try the Miller 64 but haven't seen it available here yet.

I put it on before each workout, but sometimes I take it off if I get too hot.

Is this a 64 oz bottle instead of a 40 oz?! And Anita called me hard core!!

She did get that phone call. :rolleyes1
The Miller 64 is 12 ounces for only 64 calories.

I have lost 52 pounds and am working hard to lose that excess skin :headache: I think the worst is my under arms, I do weights 2-3 times a week but seriously the flab just won't go away !!

I just happened to read your thread and thought I would quick post here because my arms are a problem area for me too. I saw you lift and do a lot of tricep extensions, but are you using a circuit or free weights?

The only reason I ask is because when I first started working out I was doing a circuit and kept increasing my weights as I got stronger. Then I tried a weight class at my gym called Body Pump. It's an hour long class where you use lighter weights, but do a lot of different moves to create longer leaner muscles. You don't have to take this class though to use some of the tips they teach.

One that might help you is to change up the speed when you're lifting. Instead of lifting at the same pace, try and lift at a slower 3 count and then lower at a one count...do this a couple times in a row, then do 2 counts up, 2 counts down a couple times and then go to singles. You can use these same techniques for any weight lifting, biceps, squats, etc....

Another move we do especially for the triceps are dips. You don't even need weights for this, you just use your own body weight. There are 2 versions. The more advanced version is to sit on something that's elevated off the floor, we use a step with 2/3 risers underneath, but you could probably use the stairs in your house. Place your hands behind your back on the step and then lower your body down and then back up. They are killer on your arms, but really work. If you're not strong enough for that you can do the modified version, which is to sit on the step with your arms behind your back resting on the step and then lean your body back and then up again. Again try and change up the tempo.

I hope these help. I haven't achieved the exercise addict phase like you, but I really enjoy working out and am amazed at how much better I am feeling.

It's not too popular here yet either, there's only a couple of stores that sell it so far

I call 'em like I see 'em :confused3 :rotfl:

I use free weights

Wow you gave me some excellent tips, thanks SO much ! I really appreciate it ! I was thinking I needed to get some lighter pounds because i'm using 2 10 pounders and it's tough to do some of my tricep exercises with those

I am definitely going to try the stair thing too !!

So how long have you been on your weight loss journey and how's it going for you ?

So how long have you been on your weight loss journey and how's it going for you ?

I just started in March and in fact, I started my first WISH journal today, so if you want you can learn all about me over there.

As for the weight lifting, my triceps are my weakest area, but I can confirm that these exercises work because I'm losing some of my arm jiggle....:rotfl:

It's funny how using the circuit and free weights change the amount of weight you can lift. When I'm on the circuit I do 25 pounds for my triceps, but when using free weights, I use a bar with 3lbs on each side and do higher reps. Probably in a week or so I'll be able to increase my weights to 5lbs on each side.

Another exercise is to lay down on your back, hold your bar a little more than shoulder width apart and lower the bar back to your forehead and then back up again. Just make sure your elbows stay close to your body, you want them pointing forward, not out to the side. If you go to this website:

http://www.lesmills.com/global/en/members/bodypump/learn-the-moves.aspx

there's some instructional stuff on how to do some of these moves. In fact, the guy that's on the main Body Pump page is one of the trainers at my gym, Sheldon. :goodvibes.
He was recently selected to become a national Body Pump trainer for Les Mills. But there's also techniques for squats, biceps, clean and press, etc.

Glad to help!

Hey thanks for that website !! I do that one exercise where you lay on your back and lower the weights, thats tough with 2 10 pound weights :headache: and you are so right about the circuit weights and free weights !!! I used to belong to a gym and I was able to do so much more with the circuits, I wish I had someone around here to go with ! I need to get rid of all this arm jiggle :rotfl:

Im going to check out your journal !

I hhope everyone is doing well. :)
You guys lost me on all that circuit and free weight talk. :rotfl:

Well circuit weights are found at a health club and free weights are hand weights you can use at home, easy enough right :rotfl:

Did you ever start doing any weights for your arms !? my arms look great when I pull the huge flap of flab back and under my arm pit :rotfl2:

yes, you are correct on your definitions of a circuit and free weights.

I did get a good laugh when I read your description of getting great looking arms...Don't we wish it was that easy! I also like to imagine what my stomach will look like after my "pooch" is gone. Since just cutting it off isn't an option, I will have to keep plugging away and doing my crunches. I may not ever have a 6-pack, I'll just be happy when my "keg" (okay, it's not that big, maybe more like a party ball, but you get the picture) is gone. :rotfl:

I did want to tell you that I was able to increase my arm weights today in my weightlifting class. It was only for my bicep work and boy were they shaking near the end. I figure for my tri's I still need another week at my current weight, and then I should be able to do a 3lb increase. I know it doesn't sound like much, but when you're isolating the muscles, it's killer.

It's definitely a killer when you are isolating a muscle ! my triceps are so much weaker than my other muscles, I dont know why :confused3 good for you on the bicep increase ! I might just have to join a gym at some point, I really can't get the results I want from home

Or maybe we can just staple the flab in an inconspicuous place to look how we want :rotfl:

I lost 2 pounds this week !!! :yay: I am speechless, It feels wonderful to know that I have lost 55 pounds !!!

Thanks girls !! how are you all doing ? did everyone have a good weekend !? I had a bit too much to drink :rolleyes1
