LOSE BEFORE YOU CRUISE - Support Thread for all Cruisers

Keep going WW worked for me lost 75 lbs, put on some, but backa gain to lose the rest

We are going on our first Disney cruise March 13, 2012 and can't wait!!! My husband and I have been doing Weight Watchers since October and we've both lost almost 25 pounds so far. I'm trying so hard to get under 200 but each weigh in the past few weeks i've gained(my mom was in town) and then i'll lose 2 pounds the next week, so frustrating but we're not giving up because by the time we cruise I should be at my goal weight! I love this program, now if I would just work out more than a couple times a week. We did start kickboxing and loving it so we'll see. Good luck to everyone on your weight loss journey and Happy Cruising :cheer2:

We are booked on the Disney Dream :woohoo: - sailing June 15, 2012 - lots of time to get to goal! I'm going to start WW on Monday - and finally start using the gym membership I've been paying for

Anxious to get moving and buy those cute little sleeveless sundresses for the trip!

Looking forward to getting to know you guys and cheering your successes along the way! :cheer2:

Doing pretty good here. :goodvibes Still doing Zumba, I started going 4x a week and I added 1 'steps and reps' class that is a step aerobic/dance class. I am not seeing a huge difference on ths scale still, but my clothes are falling off of me. So I guess that's a good thing. :thumbsup2

I'm still not doing great with my diet, but I am hoping to start kicking that up a bit soon. We sail in 2 1/2 months! So, I think that's still a good amount of time to lose a good amount of weight.:woohoo:

I 'd love to have a group of friends to meet with to run, work out, do yoga, etc. I know they have the classes on board, but quite frankly they aren't that great and it would be much more fun to do yoga or run on the beach at a time that is convenient for us, not when it is scheduled.

Let me know if you want to work out on board!

Lora - I'm cruising Dec 22, 2012 - you have plenty of time to join my date so I can work out with you! Haha - :yay:

Vacations usually set me back on my fitness habits, I have a vacation coming up in April and I am hoping I can figure out a way to work out during the trip.

Hi All! I am also wanting to loose before I cruise. We set sail Aug. 27th, so I have a few months loose roughly about 20 lb. I could stand to loose more, but I want to set my goal realistically, and would be ecstatic to loose the 20 lbs. as a starter.
My plan: Drink more water, cut out soda. About 3 years ago, I gut out caffeine, so this shouldn't be too hard, since it's not the caffeine I crave - it's the freaking sugar. Also, eat few calories, smaller portioned meals. And do more exercise. I've been lazy alot lately, so I will start with the WII biggest losser, do some workout videos, and take walks at lunch time (if my work schedule permits).

Anyways, I look forward to loosing with you all, i'll check back daily for encouragment, check ins and to report any scale fluctuations.

Here's to loosing weight in 2011!:thumbsup2

Alright I am joining again. I got close to my last goal with my last cruise. It wasn't what I wanted to weigh, but it was a realistic goal. Now I have the Dream booked for 8/7 and I would like to lose 28 lbs. Actually I would like to lose this before my Vegas trip 7/7. Then I will have 4 weeks till the cruise and my 20 year HS reunion...uggg I am old!

here I go...wish me luck! :yay: My goal is 1.6 lbs a week!

I plan to atleast post once a week on Sundays...

Ok...I'm a lifelong up and down person with my weight.
We are doing the June 26th, 2011 Dream Double Dip and will be starting my diet and workout regiments tomorrow (I figure that starting on the 1st makes it easy to keep track of how long I've been doing it.)
My DW and I did Weight Watchers before our 2008 cruise on the Wonder and we did great until the cruise. All the Wonderful food on the ship killed our diet and we never really got back into it. :guilty:

Last year I had good success using livestrong.com and their MyPlate feature. I'm going to try that again and keep up with my workouts.

I plan on updating on here each Monday with my success.

Let's start now:
2/28/11 - 330lbs.

Hope everyone is still doing good in the weight loss journey! The scale's still not moving too much here, but I feel good and my clothes are fitting great. I went shopping at Old Navy and was fitting comfortable in an L or XL rather than a XXL.

I am still doing my Zumba classes Mon, Wed, Thurs and Sat and taking the Steps and Reps class Mondays after Zumba. Doubling up on classes is HARD! I feel like my legs are going to give out under me - but it will be worth it when I am in a sundress or shorts and actually feel confident.

Keep it up everyone!!!! :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

Wow... Zumba! That workout is crazy! Good for you!

As for me... i've lost 5lbs since saturday... I am not too excited, I think it's too fast and contribute it to water weight. Kinda bummed cause I know if I loose it too fast, it will come back. But I want to start working out soon.
I haven't had a soda since Friday - so yay for me!

WestPalmBucsFan: Did you gain some weight back on the actual cruise or did it come back after the cruise?

WestPalmBucsFan: Did you gain some weight back on the actual cruise or did it come back after the cruise?

Both! I didn't really gain that much back on the actual cruise. It was mostly that I got out of the habit of eating right (I was on WW at the time and there was no menu options listed from the cruise ;) )and of working out.

I also wanted to update my starting weight. I thought I was 330lbs but it turns out I'm only 302.4 lbs. I say "only" like I'm some tiny thing but a 28 lb starting difference is huge.

I worked out with the Drill Sgt from the ROTC program at my school today. My arms are burning and shaking but I feel really good. :thumbsup2

I've starting eating the Fruit and Maple Oatmeal from McDonalds for breakfast (tons of coupons to get it for free in last Sunday's newspaper). I know it doesn't sound that healthy (especially coming from McDonald's), but for the whole shabang it's only 280 calories and 1.5g of fat and it's VERY filling!

I got some of those free coupons too, i might pick one up this morning. I usually keep a box of oatmeal at my desk for the a.m. but I have run out and I wanted to taste McDonalds, I hear it is really good.

28lbs is a big difference! Atleast you start knowing you weigh less than what you thought!

I have made arrangements with a co-worker/friend to start walking at lunch on mondays, wednesdays, and fridays. Then if we maintain that, we will increase it to every day.

Here is my weekly Sunday weigh in...down 1.6. This is exactly what I want to lose each week. I did ok this week...didn't journal some days. My goal this week is to journal!!!!! This is so hard for me.

Good Luck to everyone this week...stay strong!!!;)

Week 1= (-)1.6

Hi All! Weigh in time - i've lost 10 lbs but I have to admit that my eating habits were horrible this weekend. Thurs. I skipped dinner cause I was tired and went to bed. On Friday I ate McDonalds oatmeal (which is delicious btw) and for lunch I had a granola bar cause I had to work through lunch. Then for dinner I didn't eat at all, went straight to bed after work again. Saturday: Ate an egg and a sausage patty for breakfast, didn't eat lunch - I don't know why, and for dinner I ate 5 slices of pizza (small slices, white spinach thin crust). So I am ashamed, I didn't eat good or I should say I didn't eat :guilty: .... hence probably why I lost the extra weight. But I am back to regular meals now, had peanut butter crackers for breakfast. Still no soda. Gonna plan lunch now. I'm still learning through this weight loss stuff, so bear with me as I work out the kinks.

What kind of scale is everyone using? I have an old digital one that I got for free from a bank when I opened a checking account and I don't think it's very accurate. I also don't trust the Wii Fit balance board. So, I'm in the market for a new scale.

I can't help with a recommendation on a scale, mine is maybe 14 years old, is metal and has to be adjusted with a dial. It does the job though.

Ok, here's my Monday check in...299.4
Down 3 pounds. No too shabby of a start.
Each morning I'm starting my day with a scoop of AmazingGrass SuperFood. I don't know what's in it but I remember using it last year around SpringBreak and I lost a fair amount of weight. I mix it with a variety of things (milk, juice, iced coffee, etc.) or sometimes I just have it in a glass of water. Some mornings that's all I have, others I have breakfast with it.
I ran out of the McDonald's Free Oatmeal coupons so I bought some Quaker Instant Oatmeal over the weekend and have that (in addition to my drink) on the mornings I work out with the JROTC Drill Sergeant at my school. Speaking of which...I gotta go. If I'm late he REALLY busts my butt.
Until next week....

Ok, count me in! I'm cruising on 10/2/11 and hoping to lose about 5 BMI points by then. I'm hoping tracking by BMI (thank you Wii fit) and not pounds will help me as in the past trying to keep track of pounds was very discouraging. I'm extremely tall for a lady, so healthy weight for me is what overweight is for most, it's a struggle to try and lose weight and remind myself that it's ok that I'm 50 pounds more than my peers of similar build.

So far I've been relying on the Daily Burn app on my iPhone to count calories. I've tried out a few of these, and Daily Burn is my favorite.

For exercise I've started with walking a few miles a day, and doing various things on my Wii fit (more for fun than anything, but I count it!:thumbsup2). Eventually I want to find a gym that has a proper rowing machine (or buy a used one) as that's my favorite workout, but that's surprisingly hard to find.

I'm not overweight, ( I don't think) but having to buy larger clothes is not fun. So, I'm trying to stay at this size or maybe get back to my last size. I've never cared about the exact number on the scale either.

I have a hard time dieting, I can't eat alot of foods, allergies, you'd think that'd help...LOL But after 3 kids and I'm not 20 any more. I teach dance in the summer and volunteer ( I'm busy) but it isn't keeping it off any more!!! So, I'm doing my best, to add regular exercize and cut the sugar, etc...

Wish you all luck, and remember laughing burns caleries too! So be happy often!!:goodvibes

It's funny how a cruise and the fear of the swim suit can push anyone to fear how they look. I am hoping that if I can lose 5 pounds a month, by Oct I could look real good!!! I have hit an age that does not make me happy and have given birth to 2 wonderful kids (most days) so i do have the extra weight to loose. Really glad I found this link. I will start checking in to see how we are all doing!! 281 days to go and counting (soooo excited)
