I don't know if this has been answered somewhere in this vast forum concerning the new regulations but the one about no loose ice had me wondering how one is supposed to use reusable freezer packs when the fridges in the rooms do not have freezers. Just wondering. :confused3

I’ve been concerned with the same issue. Most people I’ve seen post have said ziplock with ice is ok. When is your trip? We go in 11 days so I can report back!

That could defeat the purpose of the new rule, so I am betting that eventually Disney will say that the new rule precludes that. I think they really do want people using freezer packs (else why wouldn't they use the opportunity to cross-promote with their sponsor, Ziplock?) You can re-freeze them to a great extent overnight in the ice bucket filled with ice in your hotel room.

I’m just reporting back as to what others are saying. The loose ice was a problem because security had to dig through cold, wet ice. A bag of ice just has to be moved. Who knows...

Also, someone actually tested the freezer pack in an ice bucket (and also in a sink filled with ice and rock salt) and neither froze it solid. Got it cold, yes, but not enough to keep anything cold for a long amount of time.

I had sent a email asking about a quart bag and was told that would be ok.

Last trip I packed several items in gallon ziplock bag too. Pull out three or four bags. One has snacks, one had extra clothes, one had diapers. I think easier to check than digging through back pack.

The main purpose of this one is to keep Disney Security from freezing their hands trying to search through coolers filled with food and beverages while doing their search. Plus making the search a bit easier.

Ziploc® is a sponsor, not a Disney property. Many other companies make or sell resealable zipper bags.

::yes:: not to mention "burning" themselves in dry ice!

I will be there in about a month. Let us know what happens!

The changes go into effect on May 1, so your trip experience will not be the same as one after the policy change takes place.

SIL and BIL are in WDW now and have had very inconstant experiences. Sometime all ice must go (especially at EPCOT); sometimes no problem. Security CMs are giving them, inconsistent answers. They asked at QS for cups of ice and were denied at more than one location.

I flew down there Sat and went to guest relations where the CM told me no loose ice, no ice in ziplock bags, and no ice to be given by QS locations.

On our Travel Agent Disney site, Disney says guests can get cups of ice fro QS to replace dumped out ice. Then the comments section contains no fewer than ten responses from Disney saying the ziplock bags of ice are OK.

They need to all get on the same page.

I've never been denied ice at a QS location or water, with or without buying something. Though I have been told I couldn't have any simply because fountain soda wasn't offered at the QS location, which is a requirement for either.

Yes- please let us know a first hand experience!

Disney has made it clear in their responses to questions on their official blog post about the changes that ice in a small ziploc is fine:

Herein is the problem. No consistency!! What happens if we bring a copy of the above e-mail and show it to security?

If I were planning to bring a cooler with ice (in a bag) to Disney today, I would bring a printout of an email or the like with Disney's official word.

Surprising, because they always have!

I wonder if disney realized giving out ice water so people don't faint is one thing. Giving out multiple cups of ice so you can bring in your own sodas is only cutting into their bottom line more.

What about going to someplace like electric umbrella, are you allowed to fill up a bag of ice there?

I wonder what disney view of frozen water bottles is? Do they count as ice? I would rather do that and have cold water at the end of the day instead of just warm ice packs to lug around.

Frozen water bottles are not loose ice.
I've in water bottles, with or without water, is not loose ice.
If you have a freezer, frozen peas are not loose ice.
Also if you have a freezer, frozen grapes are not loose ice - and can be enjoyed as a snack.
