Debbie thanks so much for your welcome. You guys are a great bunch :)

I am slowly starting to make some sense of what we are doing after plenty of time on here. It's a bit like learning another language and culture LOL.

No problem. We love having new people to chat with or help out OR HELP US OUT!

BTW... Yes Pam2 we do do the Disney Dollar thing, especially my Mom. She gives us Disney dollars all the time for special occassions, especially for the kids. We are big into using our reward dollars too from our Disney Visa. We charge everything and just make sure to pay the bill off each month.
Hope to see more of you later.
It's another HOT one here today!

Debbie - I'm so glad you're DH is doing better and I'm glad you're back.
I have always wanted to go to the Elk Grove Village waterpark. There is also a waterpark in Bensenville. Let me see if they are easy enough for me to survive the drive. I've heard great things about the parks.

Yvette - Where are you staying in Chicago?

Do you mean Pirates Cove? We love that place!

Debbie - Yes, the waterpark at Pirates Cove. I would like to try the playgrounds there, too. If it is too cool for water when you're free we could just go to the playground. I looked it up on Google maps and I could take 53 to Biesterfield. How far is it for you guys?

Let's do it! What does your schedule look like? It will take me about 20 minutes. No biggie!

I am not 100% sure yet but we will be staying centrally in the city-really close to the Magnificent Mile so I can shop ;)
Anything you want help with just let me know. I love the city! Plus right now the Chicago thread has been talking about things to do in the city. Did you say when you were coming?

Thanks! We will be there for four nights from the 18th April through to the 22nd. I have a fairly good idea of what we will do I think. Sears Tower, shopping, Lincoln Park Zoo, shopping, Millenium Park, shopping, Navy Pier, shopping-ok not really that much shopping but I loved the shops when I was there last time :)

Oh, SHOPPING!! I can totally relate! ;) If you have daughters, one place I would suggest in Chicago is the American Girl Place. I took my girls there when we visited Chicago a couple of years ago, and they absolutely loved it!! They are building one in our Dallas Galleria that should be open by Christmas. I am more excited about it than my girls!:yay:

Oh, I thought of ALL of you the other day when we got a Gymboree ad w/a 20% off coupon in the mail.:rotfl2: (Most of those who post here are Gymboree Gunkies!! My girls are too old/big, but it brings back memories!!:)

That is so neat that you all can get together. Have you met before? I have skimmed thru this entire post, and remember you all talking about it before, but have you yet? That's awesome!!

I have been to Chicago in 2005 when my daughter was 9 mo and I already bought her an American Girl doll LOL. I cannot wait to take her back.

I also have internet friends in America so we have a few pieces from Gymboree that people have bought for me and sent over-I have someone picking stuff up for me now at their summer sale to send over for our summer :)

Oh Partia9 you fit right in here!

Pam2, yes, Lisa and I have met at a mall once. With how crazy time flies that's all we have gotten to do.

Where is everyone else??
Good night all!

Hi friends! I think that we went one whole day w/out rain, and that was yesterday. :sunny: We had our daily downpour when I was walking out of the grocery store w/a full cart. YIKES. :( I don't need to take a bath now!:lmao: It is so terribly humid when it's not raining. Waah, waah, waah...Listen to me whine! :sad1: I am just thankful that we haven't had the flooding that some people have. We are putting together a bucket of supplies for the victims of the floods at church, and I picked up a few things tonight -- on my way out to the car in the downpour, I kept trying to remind myself how fortunate we are...

These boards are fun, but for some reason, I have been doing a lot of reading, but not much posting, only on this thread. I think I already said that I am in the process of making my way thru the Picture of the Day thread. :surfweb: It's taking me awhile! I have yet to get to a picture that you've posted, Debbie, and haven't seen that anyone else in our thread has posted a pic. Maybe I am going thru too fast and didn't notice. I hope not! There are some awesome picutes on it, and I am feeling so inspired and motivated to do more w/my camera. :cool1: I am afraid to voice my opinion on some of the threads, for fear of being attacked! pirate: Not so much tho - there are MANY more nice people than meanies!:flower3:

Night, night all! I need to see if Tammie has added more to her trip report, and get another dozen or so pages of the POTD thread under my belt.

Sweet dreams!:cloud9:

I haven't even looked at those yet after I subscribed to them! Hee, hee! (Remember, I posted "subscribing" to each of them!?)

You have a lucky DD! The American Girl dolls are lots of fun! I wished I had bought one for myself in Chicago, so my DH and DD's bought me a Bitty Baby for my birthday after we got back. I have bought several outfits for her when I bought for my DD9's Bitty Baby, that I am saving for my grandchildren. I just hope that I have girls! DD13 has one, and DD9 wants one for her birthday.

So, you have one daughter and 3 boys, all under 12? You're busy! Are you all on summer break from school there?

You are lucky lucky people - we used to have a Gymboree in Cheltenham(UK) where we live - but it shut - just after getting us all ADDICTED!!!!!!

I guess they didn't make enough money over here - no one I know shopped there unless a sale was on - £25 (50 US dollars!!) for jeans for a 3 year old was a bit steep!!! Are your prices that high in the states? They were one of the few shops here where the sales were REALLY good - 70% off (after the 30% off month and the 50% off month...) not 10% like lots of stores.

We still have sunshine - I guess summer is here - Fingers crossed please everyone....its got to hold for Friday and Saturday !!! DD2 is 5 on Saturday - we are having a family get together on Saturday, but the IMPORTANT day in her eyes is Friday - she has 6 friends coming round after school to do crafts and girly stuff, as well as stuff themselves silly with sugar etc...

Boy did we pick a day!!!!! School has a non-uniform day that day on a sports theme??? Then her after-school "at home" (3.30 ish -5.30pm), then the school has a fundraising disco (6.15 - 7.30pm for the little ones - under 7yrs). It's a good job that school is only 3 minutes walk away!!!

Then the next day is her REAL birthday tea, family love, cuddles and of course the all important presents. Then the Sunday is her last swimming lesson this term - where they give out badges and certificates (she and her sister will get their first one!! 5m swimming without aids - we haven't told them, nor has their teacher, so they will get a "surprise")

So, I've plenty to worry about this week - catering for 2 get togethers in 2 days - DMIL+FIL are helping out on the kids one so have to feed them too.... Presents, Craft stuff, decoration, b####* party bags!!!!! - (we've gone minimal!!!! mini fairy wand + chocolate bar - They have their craft makes too...).

Wish me luck - must have lost 3 pounds sweating and worrying already!!!!

How is it that idiots fire bombing airports cause no worry whatsoever, but a 2 hour get together for 8 kids (inc mine) causes mayhem for a week!!!!!

Tessa

Tessa,
"Bob's your uncle!". :rotfl2: I just had to pop on to say this to you quickly this AM. I heard it on the radio on the way in this AM, and they said that it is a common expression in England, and that it was not bad (please tell me that it isn't!). If it is a common expression that you've heard, what does that mean? I had to turn off my car and radio when they were talking about it, so I missed it.

Reading about your party planning tired me out! How fun for you, and especially for your girls!!:yay:

Talk to you all later! Have a wonderful day everyone!!!!

Pam2:flower3:

Hey all, just stopping by to say hi! I am getting ready for Grace's procedure in the morning. We have to be there by 6:00 am  . Luckily, the surgery center is only about 15 minutes from us and we don't have to go all the way to Children's Hospital in Philly.

I was awakened at 4 am this morning by DH throwing up all over. I think he may have food poisoning. He had a chicken salad sandwich for lunch at the cafeteria at work. I feel really bad for him. He looks horrible. Usually, I find that men are big babies when they are sick, but he is too sick to even complain.

I got the kids pictures done at the Picture People on Monday. They turned out really well, but I fell like I had to do all the work posing them and getting them to smile. I was exhausted after the session was over. I am going to try to figure out if I can post them here. They used to post them on their website, but I can seem to find them. I am going to keep looking.

My niece is in a summer theater group and she is in the cast of High School Musical. We are going to see her tomorrow night and I am so excited!

I agree that sometimes it is scary to post on the DIS...people can be so judgemental and mean. Pam, I can't believe that some people said you should postpone your trip. Most illnesses are not airborne..they are spread by touching something that has bacteria on it, so being sick on an airplane is not much different than being sick in other public places. If people just wash their hands like the should, there shouldn't be an issue. That's why I love this thread! I don't really post much anywhere else.

Debbie..good to hear from you! Just curious, what med is your DH on now? I am glad to hear he is doing well. I am so jealous that you and Lisa might meet up at the waterpark..I wish that I could come, too! It is so hot here. It has been over 90 for the past few days and I don't do well in the heat. I could never do summer in WDW. I would love to meet up with everyone on this thread. I bet we would have so much fun together, drinking margaritas!

Pam...I loved you trip report. Sounds like you had a great, relaxing vacation. I know what you mean about hot stinking men dripping sweat all over you. My friend has a house in Tampa and we went to WDW for a day over ten years ago. I can still remember all the sweaty stinky people while we were waiting in line. Of course, this was before I became the Disney expert that I am today and also before Fast Pass, so I waited in a lot of long lines.

Pam2..I never get those Gymboree coupons. It seems that if you spend a lot there, they don't send you any coupons.

TessaI didn't realize that they ever had Gymboree in the UK. I agree with you, it is addictive and they have great sales. I really have to stop shopping...all of my kids have so many clothes, it is ridiculous. Gymbo gets you into a never ending spending cycle with all of their sales. They just have a big clearance sale where many things were $3.99, $4.99 or $6.99. You have to dig through bins of clothes. Its kind of like a treasure hunt! I love to search for the pieces I need to finish outfits. I earned "Gymbucks", so I feel like I need to spend them. Good luck with DD's birthday party. I just had one for DD and DS a few weeks ago and it is SOOO stressful.

Yvette...I can't remember if I said this before, but welcome to the thread! I bet you are having so much fun planning your trip to WDW. I really want to go to DLP when the kids get older. My niece went last year and she had a great time. She went to England and France with a group called People to People.

Hi to Tammie, Keahi, Sewer, and Jenn!

I love the American Girls store. My sister has four dolls from when she was younger and I have one. I was a teenager when I got mine, I think. Maybe a little younger. I love the little tables and chairs for each doll. Has anyone done the Tea Party at the store? My aunt took her niece and said her niece just loved it.

Maureen - sorry about your DH. I can't wait to see the pics. I have never had any luck w/dd getting prof. pictures. She cries everytime. If you are ever visiting Chicago just tell us. I'd love to meet up. It would be fun if we could all meet up in Disney though.

Tessa - The prices at Gymboree are usually a little lower here than the UK but I always buy my favorite things on sale anyway because dd has so...many clothes. I thought of asking Debbie if she wants to sell me any of her Gymboree outfits. I don't think we have any clothes for DD for when she is 3 & 4. Good luck w/all the fun things going on. I know what you mean about the worry you go through for your kid's happiness and getting everything done on time. I stress at every holiday, even if I am just going to other's houses.

Debbie - I am free anytime. I don't have any appointments this week or next. Tomorrow might rain so Friday would be best for this week.

I have to make lunch now so I will talk to you guys later.
