Our WDW schedule for Nov looks like this:

Fri – land 11amish, straight to DD to grab lunch and walk around, to PC to check in and poke around the resort (we’ve been, but DS, DM & DD have not), over to Grand Floridian to see the Christmas décor there:santa: , back to DD to have dinner and see it at night
Sat – MK all day 9a-8p, 9:50am PS @ CRT
Sun – Epcot all day 9a-9p
Mon – MK all day 9a-8p, 10:25am PS @ CP
Tues – DS all day 9a-7p, 4pm FDP PS @ H&V, Fantasmic
Wed – Epcot all day, 9a-9p
Thurs – AK 9a-?p, 7pm flight back home

We get resort mugs and will probably eat something downstairs at PC food court on most days for breakfast before we leave on the bus for the park. I may pack Pop Tarts or cereal bars for those days that we have late breakfast PS’s, and on those days, we have a light snack, then eat dinner. We try to get into the restaurants w/out an ADR, or we eat counter service. I can handle having a couple of set times to eat, but it stresses me out too much to have PS’s every day. We stay in the park all day, and don’t go back to the resort for a nap or rest. We tried that on our first trip when the girls were smaller, and the only one that was able to sleep was Dad! So, not fair!! We have to sit on Main Street for the afternoon parade at MK. I stake out our spot very early, and we take turns going into the shops.

I don’t have a good place to watch the SM parade. Does anyone care to share their favorite viewing spot for that? I need to read the posts!

Has anyone done the customized maps on the DW web site? If so, why do you like them? Just curious. We haven’t, and just use the map that you get at the parks.

This will be our first visit to AK! We are excited about that!

Have a wonderful day!:flower3:

Me again. I am probably wrong on the park hours. That's what I saw last time I looked.:)

Hi Guys..
Fly by...
Wisconsin was fun and we are going back tomorrow. Pretty much came home to drop of DH for work and for DDs swim lessons. That's the nice thing about the place only being an hour and a half away. I hope you are all doing good. I spent a lot of time today doing laundry :laundy: and trying to get some finances in order:surfweb: . I had this vision of myself dying and no one being able to get to any of our accounts (ie passwords and such). I do have these occasional panics about crazy stuff. They come and they go.

TinkLvr (Maureen) How's work? Life? The kids??
Pbharris (Pam )WELCOME HOME!!!! I will be away when you come back on Wednesday! I missed you tons and can't wait to here about your trip!
DisneyOhana (Lisa) Yes, we will have to get together when I get back! We will have to put something on the calendar!
hannahsmomma (Jaclyn) Come back!:guilty:
Magicfor2 (Tammie)Hope you had a great birthday!!! How was your last day at work?? I am hoping to go read more of your TR next.
Ahibird (keahi) :thumbsup2
Sewer :hippie:
tea4sanity (Joanne)
2girlsmom (Kristy)
tttessa (tessa)Are you OK? You guys are all over our news! Isn't it so sad!!!! I am just going to bite my tongue now before I say something very unDIS (about those terroists)! I see your weather isn't so hot either. Hang in there!
Lovin Life ( Pam) How are things now with the kiddies back home!? Your agenda looks splendid! No MGM?? I bet we get to run into each other during that trip. I will let you know how our trip looks as soon as I can figure it out!

I'll be back Sunday the 8th in the PM!! Have a great week and for my American dis friends happy 4th of July! Enjoy and be safe!

Hi everyone! we've been out camping. Thanks so much for all of your birthday wishes and last day wishes - you are such sweet friends! :grouphug: My last day went well - I left a couple of things undone, but pretty much okay. Funny - they want to pay me a consultant fee to come back and help with straightening out the books and finish the training, etc. So, I guess I'll be nice and help a little.

Tessa - I am so proud of your brave spirit! If we stop living, THEY WIN! I'm glad you are okay, though. My prayers are with the families of those who aren't in Glasgow.

Pam2 - you asked about the Disney maps! They are awesome! I didn't take them with me as they are beautiful! They look kind of like ancient maps or something - and if you build your favs into all of them, you get 3 two sides maps! We are going to frame them and give one to each of our boys for Christmas, and hang one up for ourselves. I DO have a Disney kitchen, so maybe there!

Oh, just a note about the Disney freaks we are -for his college graduation we bought our son a real share of Disney stock at www.oneshare.com - we ordered it matted and framed with a message plaque on it - it is beautiful! He loved it!!!

Hi Lisa, Maureen, Sewer, Ahi, Pam 1 and everyone else! :wave2: I have to get to bed - have a morning appointment! Love to all of you!

Thanks for the tip off about oneshare.com - I haven't seen anything like that over here!!
I had a look and ordered a Microsoft share for DH birthday - with the high pound against the dollar, it comes out really good value!
We bought some dollars for our trip too -not going till April, so it's a bit of a gamble on whether we bought at the right time, but since we are getting 2 dollars for every pound - we are happy anyhow.

We are going to have to fetch a BIG suitcase with us to take stuff home - we usually have to pay the SAME in pounds as you guys do in dollars for things, AND we are getting 2 dollars for every pound - so BIGGG savings for us poor relations over here - trouble is with customs - we are only allowed something like 140 dollars (or is it pounds? must find out...) worth of stuff each without taxes. but there are 4 of us mmmmmm
So I guess we don't take loads of luggage out - buy clothes and a suitcase there - they might not charge us for dirty laundry???;)

For any customs officials out there - note the wink - I am just kidding - I don't do fraud....

Thanks for all the kind concern  - but thankfully we are not affected at the minute either by the "idiots" or the weather ... The SUN IS SHINING :woohoo::woohoo::woohoo:

Cheers,
Tessa

A long post from me. Imagine that...:rolleyes1

Happy 4th of July everyone! It’s not raining now, but they are calling for more this PM, and it is in the forecast every day for the week. I wonder what that will do for our fireworks watching tomorrow night. A lot of the 4th of July festivities in surrounding areas have been cancelled for the next couple of days. :sad2: We certainly won’t be throwing our blankets on the grass! We might even sink in our lawn chairs! It is probably out of the question, but hopefully…At least we are fortunate enough to be with family tomorrow. :) My mom will have the mid-day meal, and my MIL will have dinner. That’s usually how our holidays work. Luckily, they live w/in about 15 mins. of one another, and each about 45 mins. from our house. Lots of good eating! Too much eating!

Tammie and Debbie, you campers! Do you rough it when you camp? I camp with both of my DD’s Girl Scout troops, and enjoy it (but not the bugs!), but I’d definitely rather cabin camp than tent camp, and would MUCH rather stay in a lodge with a fridge, oven and stove. I don’t like to rough it. DH has dreams of a lake house, but I am not sure if I could actually live like that. Nice to visit, but not to live – for me. It is a nice escape, and lucky you to have that to enjoy!! :goodvibes

Debbie, I too have that fear that if something happens to me, DH will not know what to do with everything! I take care of everything financial in our life. How did that happen?? Is it the control freak in us?:rotfl2:

Tessa, what is DLRP in your signature? Have you all been to Disneyland before? You said that you have been to Disneyland in Paris and WDW? Do you all take several trips to the US? Questions, questions, questions!! I have never been out of the US except for our honeymoon, to Jamaica, and just over the border, to Mexico. I wish that we would have taken advantage of DH’s aunt and uncle living in London years ago, and had gone to visit then. We were just starting out as a family, and just didn’t have the money at that time. I haven’t watched my taped Diana concert yet, but plan on it this week. :happytv: Elton John is one of my favorites, and I may be fast forwarding thru the rest of it, but we’ll see! Keep up your good spirits! :) I too, refuse to let THEM dictate our lives. We visited WDW the October after 9/11, and although we were a little scared, I know that we made the right decision, no matter what the outcome would have been. I think that life is too short to be scared and try not to be. I hope that the sun continues to shine for you!!:sunny:

Tammie, OK! I’ll order the maps, then! I know that I won’t use them, either, but will save them, and maybe frame them. Thanks for the One Share tip! That is really neat! I always need gift ideas for our parents. They are so hard to buy for. We’ve been buying them Disney Dollars for all occasions for the past year now, and we are treating them to breakfast in the castle on our Nov trip. You go, girl! :thumbsup2 Make them pay you big dollars for contracting and sharing your knowledge! Way to go!:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

Does anyone else buy the Disney Dollars? I buy some almost every time we’re at the mall, so that we have our spending money for our trip. The kids will get them for different occasions from the grandparents, so they have their own spending money for the trip. Do they have these in the UK, Tessa?

A shout out to Sewer, Lisa, Maureen, and Pam, and anyone else that I have missed!:wave2:

Pam – be ready to spill about your trip! We are all anxious!:mickeyjum

Love, Hugs:grouphug: and Pixie Dust :pixiedust:to all!

Hi Everyone! New to this thread, I have found my "people" Control freaks unite!!!

My name is Jenn, and I believe myself to be the biggest control freak in my family!! I am in the process of planning a WDW trip for Jan 08 for 10 adults!!!!!! Everyone thinks I am a nut for planning this far ahead, and I am worried I won't have enough time to get everything planned. Today I completed a savings worksheet for each person. My best friend Kim started dying laughing when I told her about it, but she will thank me later when she has her trip paid off before she boards the plane!!

Anyways, Im rambling (another bad trait!!! :lmao: )

I'm happy to have found this thread! :thumbsup2

Hiya Jenn - :cheer2::welcome::cheer2:
to the natural home for us control freaks / advance planners etc etc - I'm planning for April 08 - so I certainly don't think you are starting early - a bit late if you ask me :rotfl2: - but we are flying from the UK and have to think about things like passports/firebombs/ 200 levels of security etc....

Pam2 -DLRP stands for DisneyLand Resort Paris (that's Paris France! - I know you've got some over there too!!). I've been to the US once - WDW Florida (with DH before he was DH - as a first "dating" holiday together it takes some beating!!! maybe that's why I married him...;)) but DH goes maybe once a year with work - he's been to Texas (near the Alamo) and Hawaii and Baltimore.
oh, and no we don't get Disney dollars, but the grandparents all give my girls some real money whenever we go away.

Hiya everyone else too........

Well, yesterday I think the UK was shut. The "idiots" trying to terrorise this country have found new tactics - don't plant any more bombs, just pretend to!!! Packages and luggage has been "left unattended" all over the place. That way they closed Heathrow for hours, cancelled hundreds of flights, tube (subway?) stations were closed, there were scares on many other railway stations etc....
And the backlash has started - some poor newsagent in Glasgow had a car ram-raided into his shop and set alight - just for the colour of his skin -it makes you sick!!

oh, and it's RAINING again, and DD2s best friend had to go to hospital last night - she fell and sliced open her chin - 3 stitches needed!

Still, 2 weeks tomorrow (19th) is the last day of school here - they go back Sept 4th, so we can get out of the morning routine for a bit and have some fun!!!!

Bye for now all...
Tessa

Hi there, Jenn, and welcome! We are glad to have you! This is a very friendly bunch of worry warts, control freaks and ramblers (me a rambler?).

IMO, it’s never too early to start planning! Are you going to make any ADR’s, and if so, do you have your 180 day mark figured out? It looks like you’ve been before, so you know! Just tell your travel companions that you have it under control!

For budget purposes, I too start stashing away $ - cutting back on lunches out, Starbucks, buying Disney Dollars, saving all of my quarters, etc. It all adds up very quickly, and helps so that it is not so hard on the pocketbook, and so much, if any, needs to be charged.

Where are you staying? Have you booked that yet? I love the fact that our resort is paid in full before we go.

Have you bought any park tickets yet? I buy one every couple of months at our local Disney Store, so we don’t take that hit all at once.

You are in the right place, the DISboards, and home of a great group of people that are willing to listen, give their opinions/advice and where you can plan, worry, ramble – but you may have a little trouble being in control…(hee, hee!)

Welcome, Jenn! We started planning our trip for 9 people 9 months before our vacation and it was just the perfect amount of time. We had some time in there to relax a little and concentrate on other things we had to get done. The plans worked out great. EMH's worked out best in the morning though. At night there were just too many people and too long of lines. We, my aunt & uncle and sisters typed up on a google spreadsheet what we wanted to do and we tried to get together when we were all going to the same park or nearby restaurant. I miss planning.

Tessa - That's sad that people are spoiling trips for others by leaving bags everywhere.:sad2:

Pam2 - Your plans sound great. I do not know a perfect spot for the SM parade. We missed it last time we were there.

Has anyone watched Wishes from the Oriental restaurant next to the Plaza? It seemed like it would be a perfect spot.

Hi Tessa!
I'm sorry to hear some many awful things are happening on your home front. I'm so tired of hearing about these cowards trying to terrorize folks!

I actually just had one of my best friends move to England last week, he is in the US air force, and his wife (one of my best friends) leaves to join him there in a few weeks along with their two little girls under the age of 3. She is terrified of flying (just because of all the danger lately), but so thrilled to be going to England. She has never been out of Arizona!

April 2008 seems far away, but time goes by soooo quick, especially around the holidays!

HELLOOO!
I'm working on the ADR's...I never thought it would be soo difficult (before, in 2003 it was just a family of 4) this time ....it is almost 12 people for sure. Yesterday it was 10...:lmao: I am finally getting all friends, and family confirmed to who is going. This week I will start mapping out where we will eat. We are staying in a Grand Villa at Old Key West. I am renting points from a DVC'r....I'm thrilled to be staying in such a huge villa! I figure every morning we will be cooking breakfast in the villa, to save our money for really great places to eat for lunch and dinner. We might even do 1 or 2 nights in the villa for dinner depending on the cash flow situation.
I haven't bought tickets yet...:sad1: that will be later in the year. I am really watching and checking everyday on airfare, that's the biggie we are tackling right now! There are 5 folks flying out of CA, and the rest of us flying from arizona, so cordinating how we will meet up, getting everyone on transportation to the resort...well, all of it is really on my mind lately. I am just trying to sort it all out.
As far as dinner goes for the first night, I am looking for suggestions if anyone has them?? I will have 2 adults in the party that have never been to disney anything, I want to blow their socks off!!! pixiedust:

Hello!!
thanks for the EMH tip! I'm a morning person anyways, so this will work out just fine...hopefully I can get the others out of bed as well...:rotfl2:
Are you planning a WDW trip anytime soon? I love planning,...it truely is the best part, even if it does make us all a little nut---soooo....:yay:

I wish I had a trip coming up soon. We used to go every other year when I was young but now it is about every four years. We were at CBR in '03 also. Last couple days of April into May. We were just there again this past May 19-25. My DH and I take turns picking the expensive vac. so next time we have the money it will probably be an island vacation.
I'm sure you already know this, but just in case you didn't, do fantasyland first thing in the morning. We went to CRT before the park opened and at 9:00 exactly when the park opened we were in fantasyland and went on all the rides w/no lines.
Are you going to a park the first day there?

:wave2: Hi all!! I hope that everyone had a great 4th! We spent the day w/both families. I got to hug my DD's:hug: puckerup: , but our fireworks were cancelled and re-scheduled for Labor Day (Sept 3). I know that the kids were disappointed :sad2: – they haven’t been able to do a lot of summery things this summer because of all of the rain we’ve been having:sad1: , but I was glad not to deal with all of the humidity, mud and mosquitoes! Hopefully, this rainy season we’re having will be over by Labor Day. We’ll probably be in a drought again by that time! We just need a happy medium!

Maureen – how can you manage the EMH’s w/3 small children? Do you all then stay until park closing? I even have trouble w/that! I am so exhausted from all of the walking when we are at WDW, but the excitement and adrenaline keeps us going, doesn’t it? We do not have a spot to view Wishes either or Illuminations for that matter. We just traditionally watch the MK daytime parade from the curb on Main Street. My DD’s have been pulled into the parade a couple of times. I think that it is my favorite part of our entire trip.:yay:

Jenn - I could not imagine planning for 12 people! How crazy, but how fun!:Pinkbounc I remember going to Disneyland once when I was a kid and we were with aunts, uncles and cousins, and there were 14 of us. We ate all of our meals together! YIKES! Good times. I cannot even suggest a place for dinner – there are so many good ones, and many that we haven’t tried. We tend to do the same ones over because we love them so much. I didn’t notice that you mentioned if there were any kids going in your group. I think a character meal would be a great meal to kick off your trip. I am not familiar with the ones in the resorts, in case you didn’t have park tickets for your first day there, but there are some. Even if your group is entirely adults, even the big kids love character meals, at least this big kid does!pooh: You will get a lot of good suggestions here, and on DISboards. :disrocks:

Tessa – How nice if you could tag along w/DH on his business trips! Hawaii isn’t a bad place to visit!, but then you have Paris…There are so many great places that we haven’t been before, and it just makes life so exciting, doesn’t it?...dreaming of places that we haven’t been that we’d like to go!:cloud9: Your DH is a trooper to go with you on a date to the US – WDW to boot! Sounds like he’s a keeper! Do the grandparents live near you all, and do you get to see them very often? We are very fortunate in that way, as ours live pretty close. All of mine passed away when I was a young child, except for my 93 yr. old Grandma in Chicago, so I feel very blessed that my DD’s have all 4 of their grandparents still living, and able to get around. We cannot wait to see my mom and dad enjoy WDW w/our DD’s.::MickeyMo I will need to make sure to bring plenty of tissues. I tend to tear up at the slightest thing that touches me, and a lot of things do, especially at WDW! My mom is the same, and we are sure to be a bunch of blubbering fools on our trip.:sad1:

Lisa – an island vacation would be nice! Lucky you!:beach:

Hi to all of our friends that are on the road, or just busy.:hippie:

Pam – are you back yet?? :earsgirl:

Pam2

 I'm Back!!

We didn't roll in the driveway until 12:38am EST and I had a dentist appt. early this a.m. Got everything unpacked, picked up the dogs all that's left is groceries and laundry.

I'll start a trip report this weekend on this thread. I didn't take too many pictures. Ooooooo......we all had caricatures done. I'll have to take pis of them so I can post it. I'm glad to be home, but yet I wish I was still there.

Hi to all!

Happy Belated Birthday to Tammie!!

Welcome to Jenn!

I have to take my sunburned self to bed. Catch up with you all this weekend!

Pam

Hi Everyone! We are on our way out to the woods again after a crazy week, so thought I'd better catch up with "my girls!" :cutie:

Welcome to Jenn! How fun for you to be planning a trip - the time will go by so fast!!

Hi Debbie! I haven't posted on my TR for a few days - I will get some more done tonight. how is your DH doing?

Welcome Back! Pam, can't wait to read about your trip!

Ttessa - I think you asked about the SM spot and the Wishes spot?

--this trip we happened to be in the Main Street circle just inside the entrance - on the Fire Station side = the parade came out of the gate at the fire station and came our way first! So, since we were ready to leave that night, we had a front row spot, and then zipped out the gate when the last float went by! Perfect!

--As for wishes, we found a great spot - seemed a little iffy at first, but turned out really good. On the right hand side of main street, just before the tomorrow land bridge, there is a small street to your right, with some tables and chairs on a patio several steps down. You have to have ressies to sit in there, but there is a SMOKING SECTION on those steps, with a fence just to the right. If you stand right at the corner of those steps up against the fence, you can see the castle really well, you can hear the music, and Tink flies right over your head! We were worried about the smoke, but only about two people were smoking, and when everyone gathered in, they stopped smoking for the duration. We waited at that spot for an hour, and my DH ran and got some novelty candies for the kids to entertain them a little.

Oh, and also - I have to admit - our "camping" this Summer consists of a 29 ft trailer with electric, water, sewer, air conditioning, hot shower, toilet, microwave, tv with DVD player and stereo speakers in the ceiling. We even have electric blankets! I wouldn't exactly call if roughing it. We used to tent camp and I loved roughing it, then I got old enough that I need a bed and a bathroom. My DH got a great deal on this trailer last year from a friend - this year we have it parked at the lake 45 min. away for 3 months - my FIL put his boat there for us, so we are using it for our "vacation home" on the weekends. I can even bring some work up there and stay productive!

Hi Maureen, Pam2, Sewer, Ahi, Lisa! Hope I didn't leave anyone out! Have a great weekend! I am going over to work on my TR! Hope you all join me there! :grouphug:

Hiya all,

well guess what - it's still raining - people are starting to think about building an ark!!!! The security alertness level has dropped from critical, so things are getting back to normal (unless you actually want to travel anywhere!)

As to all the questions and stuff - my hubby can't really take me with him on trips abroad (the places he goes are not always the most pleasant parts) and no we don't have grandparents that close. I suppose DH parents are only 25 miles away, but I wouldn't leave the kids with them for more than say one night. They are in their 70's and "old" if you know what I mean.
My mum is 70 and not so "old" so she'd be OK, but she lives in the Orkney Islands off the north of Scotland (where I was raised) - 700 miles and 2 flights away. Dad lived in central France with my step-mum but he died a couple of years ago now. My other family are in Canada/Australia/New Zealand/Gibraltar etc... we Brits are a seafaring nation you know!!

Please keep any tips coming on where best to see the various parades and fireworks.

And welcome back Pam!!!

Tessa

Tessa - I too, have been thinking about the ark thing, especially after we just saw Evan Almighty! It is sounding like a good idea right about now! Some roads have been closed down not too far away from us, due to the high water, but we are very fortunate to not have any damage. We didn't get that much rain in our area today. Yippee!!!:yay:

Tammie – your camper sounds like my kind of camping! I just never got into the mess kit, no running water, no latrine kind of camping. Give me the outdoors with modern day luxuries!! Thanks for the suggested viewing spots for Spectro and Wishes! :tinker: We never miss them on a WDW trip, but we do not have one great area that we go back to, except for Main Street for the day time MK parade. I’m there! ::MickeyMo

Pam – a dentist appt.? Ouch. What a way to get back into reality! When’s the next trip?? Sunburn? We haven’t seen the sun in weeks! :sunny: Can’t wait to see your caricature and trip report!:earsboy:

Debbie – you and your DH have been in my thoughts and prayers. How is he doing?

Jenn, Maureen, Sewer, Ahi, Lisa -

Night, night all!
