Hello My name is Jaclyn and I am a controll freak and worry wart....and my worst Disney nightmare is coming true. Dh has decided that he does not want to take dd out of school for our trip so it is spring break or nothing! This is not good for my anxious self. And now I just realized we are leaving on Good Friday to drive the 14 hours down 95 to DW. I really am losing my disney mind :scared: Help!

Thanks Pam and Debbie for the info on Ohana. Window seat during Wishes sounds really magical! Do they pipe the music in?

Yep..they do pipe in the music. We had a window seat for breakfast and could see the castle..I can only imagine how nice it would be at night. We'll have to do that one of these trips.

Debbie - When DD had the runs she loved the pedialyte freezer pops. She would not drink the juice though.
Ahibird - Glad you guys got through the testing okay. You're so lucky to live in Hawaii. My DH & I went to Maui for our late honeymoon. We didn't have the money for it until 1 year after we were married. We stayed in the town of Lahaina and we loved it so much. The weather and the beauty of it. We keep saying we want to move there when we retire, but I can't imagine being that far from my family. Have you lived in Hawaii your whole life? What's it like living there? I mean, is the weather always nice, the people always nice, very laid back, or is that just the area we were in?
Hello Hannahsmomma. We used to go to DisneyWorld in the summer and drive about 20 hours when we were kids. I feel for you. At least you won't have as much heat & humidity as summer. I hate when it is too humid out.

Welcome, Jacyln!!! What grade is your DD in? That's too bad your DH doesn't take your DD out of school. Spring Break week is one of the busiest weeks at WDW..does DH know that? When were you plan on going?

:goodvibes Good Morning Girls,
I think we are all on the mend! Matthew drank the pedialite last night so I felt better about that. DD is back to school this AM. Everyone seems to be getting his or her energy back.

Oops! I keep getting the names wrong  sorry. It's like meeting a new roomful of people and then trying to remember their names:rotfl:
Debbie, I actually haven't seen the movie yet - my DH doesn't like musicals and I have been so busy. I just didn't realize they were on tour already - sounds like fun! I hope your baby gets well soon. Are you doing the BRAT diet? Bananas, rice, apples, toast. Of course no dairy. I guess you know - I worked at a Peds clinic, so I go into advice mode - feel free to tell me to shut up :thumbsup2

Don't worry about mixing us up! Who cares! Sometimes I have to take notes before I post! The multiple quotes button has really helped me out though.

We welcome advice! TINKLVR is a pharmacist so we get her advice all the time too. I love it!

Like Pam said…they do pipe in music and it is super cool!

Welcome….. Nice to have you join us. Have you pointed out the pros and cons to your DH? How does he feel about crowds and the higher price? I guess it also has to do with how old your DD is. I taught Kindergarten for a very long time and to miss school during those primary years is NO BIG DEAL (unless your child struggles in school). I do some schools will give you a hard time about it but depending on the age I just think it’s ridiculous!

PLEASE stop by to vent anytime! We are great listeners.

I hope your kids feel better soon. That Pedialyte stuff is just yucky.
Thanks PAM!
It is gross! I can't believe he drinks it!

Debbie - When DD had the runs she loved the pedialyte freezer pops. She would not drink the juice though.

LISA......I am going to get those too! Thanks! I am still so glad you guys didn't get sick!!!!

Ahibird.....Long story short...we are huge Hawaii fans too (Maui).
Glad you are still chatting with us!

Debbie - Very glad to hear your family is feeling better. I second the comment that Pedialyte is yucky. My DS would not, could not, did not drink it. I've tasted it, and I don't blame him :crazy2:.

I have a friend who lives in Hawaii. He works at the Bank of Hawaii on Oahu. He's trying to get his DDs into a certain school..I think it's the one where Michelle Wie and Kelly Preston went.

Pam - we live on Oahu, too. And the school your friend is trying to get his DDs into is one of the two schools we're trying for DS. Needless to say, it's very competitive (and expensive).

My DH and I were both born and raised in Hawaii, with most of my family here (I do have some cousins in S. CA - always an excuse to visit and go to DL!). Though I've spent some time living on the mainland, Hawaii is my home, and where I want to be. Yes, the cost of living is horrendous, and it's much TOO FAR from WDW - but you can't beat the weather and the people. :cloud9:

We've been going to DL every year since DS was born (and countless times times before), with the exception of last Oct. - that was our first trip to the World... :yay: Now, we're hooked, and that why we want to go back, badly. But, as Pam so eloquently put it - the Mouse is the Mouse no matter the House. ::MickeyMo:

Aloha -- Keahi

Question...I know now to avoid dairy but can the kids have soy milk?????

Aloha, Keahi!!! Debbie.....you probably could give soy milk, but I don't know if I would. McKenna (my youngest) drank soy milk from 12-24 months..didn't tolerate wholk milk until 2 yo. Although it doesn't have the same protein/fat as reg. milk it may still upset their tummies. I know I did give it to her when she was sick and one illness she was fine with it and another she wasn't and it came back up.

Thanks!
Cute Siggie pic!

Oh and Lisa...I do know the Ariel ride you were talking about but am going to check it out on the DVD.
Thanks!

Thanks for the warm welcome...DD is 6 and is in the first grade. She is actually struggling at school, but at home she does much better. Meaning she is having a hard time with attention and focusing. So she would actually get more work done and correctly if the teacher sent it home for us to do with her. Which ds is 2 and we will have to go to the room everyday for that much needed nap time, and dd can do her work then. And, yes dh is well aware of the price savings and how huge the crowds are. This is were we differ the most, dh loves crowds and they make me want to run and hide.:scared: At this point I think he knows it would be OK to change weeks, but he is being hard headed, he can be a bit of a control freak as well. He is an only child, enough said. We are scheduled to go the week after Easter and I want to go the first week of May. Plus we are very involved with our church and I don't want to miss our Easter service. Sorry for the rant this is just really frustrating to me. :sad2:

The above post is mine, my stupid stupid computer keeps switching between my login and dh's login (another control thing)!

Jaclyn(if you don't mind me calling you that),
I figured it was you. You rant anytime!!!!! That's why we are here!:goodvibes
Good luck deciding, hang in there,
...either way you're going to DISNEY!!!

We have gone in the begining of May and it is very nice that time of year. WDW just isn't as enjoyable to me when it's crowded but if it was crowds or nothing I would deal with it. I guess you just need to have a good attitude when you know it's going to be crowded, right. What about half Spring break, half pulled out of school? It might help a tad.

We had a talk here at the doc's office I'm at now - we don't think so - alot of concentrated protein. She really will be okay without it if you can just hold out - clear liquids and the BRAT foods for awhile as tolerated.

Pam, I didn't answer you yesterday - we are going to be at WDW June 4 - 13th. We will miss you by a week. We will be at SSR for the 1st time with my DSIS and her DS8, DD 7, my DH and I. They are leaving on the 11th, and my DH and I are transferring to AKL for 2 nights of relaxation and animal watching - I am so excited!
I have always wanted to sit on my verandah and drink coffee and watch the giraffes!

Welcome Jaclyn! Hope you can talk your DH into a slow time. There is so much to learn at WDW, you could have her do a report or something:goodvibes

Since we are all worry-warts here, I thought I would share mine for today - I just realized that I closed out the fiscal year in the computer last month instead of the month. I shouldn't have done that until March 30th!!! Wish me PD to get it fixed. I hope someone at our software comp. knows how to reverse it without me re-posting 4 weeks of work:scared1:

Hannahsmomma - We are going the week before memorial day because the crowds will be a little better and my sister's son will have the three days after we get home to do his homework. Luckily, he has been doing well in school and hasn't had a lot of sick days.
Magicfor2 - Sorry to hear about the computer problem. I would be going insane. Luckily, my DH is calm and helps me to stop worrying and find a way to fix it. Well, he actually usually fixes my problems. Especially if they are computer or electronics problems.
Ahibird - If my family lived on one of the islands w/us I would never leave. How do you like Disneyland? I have never been there. I have been too obsessed w/WDW.

Oh Oh.....pixiedust: pixiedust: Here's a double pixie dust for you! You'll like SSR. Did you request a certain area? Congress Park is nice and closest to DTD and The Springs is closest to the main pool and restaurants and The Spa there is soooooo nice. Here's their website: www.relaxedyet.com

Hannahsmom: On the brightside...you're still going to WDW.

My tooth911 from the other weekend has turned into 2 root canals and a crown. Sigh. Well, one is a root canal re-do. But..the dentist that does this is sooooo good..you don't even feel the needle for the novacain AND he looks like Barry Gibb from the Bee Gees (chest hair and all).:lmao: So I just imagine him in a white big collared polyester suit signing "Night Fever, Night Fever..." or "Ah, Ah, Ah, Ah, Staylin Alive, Staylin Alive" and the appt. goes quickly. :rotfl:

You are a hoot!
Good luck to you too! I hate the dentist...well, I don't hate my dentist. I hate ANYTHING they want to do in my mouth!

My kids still have the terrible runs even though they have no fevers and are acting perfectly fine. I am using a modified BRAT diet and it just isn't working. DS will drink the pedialite at least but that doesnt cure the diareah, right? It just replaces their electrolites??? Do you think I can count rice cakes as rice? How about multigrain breads???
THANKS for all your advice guys!!!

Hi Lisa! How are ya!

Shout Out to......
FromScratchMom...please come back!!!! I miss our conversations!!!!!
Momof4girls

Sewer and any one else who might lurk our way!!!!!
hannasmamma.... I was thinking of you today and I was thinking that one of the hardest things for me as a control freak is when my DH doesn't agree with me or want to do things my way. It sends me over the roof! Continued good vibes being sent your way for him to change his way to your way!

I miss TINKLVR. Hope she is having fun. I bet it's just wonderful there!!

I need some warm sun beating down on my face! OK ahibird, I'll imagine I am by you, right now.......:sunny:
BTW Keep us posted on your DS's results and continued good luck.
OT How long is that flight for you to WDW????
